The Sorting Form

Hello, and Welcome to Wizarding Realm. Before you are allowed to run off and post in the various sections of the board, we just ask that you fill out a simple form to allow and help us to put you into the appropriate house. But before you do, there are a few guidelines we would like you to follow:

• For the Physical Appearance, Personality, and History sections of your character profile, we expect anywhere between five lines and two paragraphs in length--preferably more, if possible. It will both impress the staff, and allow other characters to both Understand and Interact with your character. Also, it can really show your creativity and writing strength, making it that much easier to place you in a house AND accept your character application. You are by no means limited to only two paragraphs - write as much as you are comfortable with.
  
• Role play sample must be a minimum of 300 words and must be written in the third person. This is required for all new characters because it allows us to see where you are at a RP level, and shows how dedicated you will be to the site. Do not simply quote an RP sample from a different site. Your sample must be in-character, using the character you have registered with.
  
• Do not post unfinished forms, or we might post unfinished acceptances. If you don't have time to fill out the form when you first register, feel free to wait until you do. There is no rush
  
• If this is your second character, you better have permission from an administrator or else. In addition, you must have at least 100 posts and have been active for three months before we will consider allowing you a second character. For ALL additional characters (including if you delete a character and want to create a new one to replace it) you NEED to get permission from an admin.
• All professor characters must be approved by an admin.

For now, we are strongly discouraging students of American origin. Hogwarts is a school in Great Britain--most of its student body should reflect this. If you feel the need to play an exchange student, there are plenty of other places to transfer from. Thank you!

If you are unsure of what to add to your profile, you may choose to consider the following for each part of your sorting form. These are not required, but if you find yourself stuck, feel free to incorporate any of the following!

For your appearance:
What does your character look like, from head to toe? Describe their hair, eyes, face, body type, and anything other physical characteristic that someone might be able to see. Does he/she have any scars or other blemishes? What does your character like about him/herself? What does your character dislike about him/herself? Is there anything different or special about the way your character moves, sits, or stands?

For your personality:
What are you character's strengths? What are your character's weaknesses? What does your character like? What does your character dislike? How does your character generally react to situations? Is there any part of your character's personality which has changed over the years? Emphasize some of the qualities your character has that reflect the house you would like him/her to be in--remember, we sort houses by personality! How does your character feel about people he/she likes? How does your character feel about people he/she does not like? What are your character's views on relationships and love?

For your history:
Tell us about your character's parents! What are their names? Their occupations? How did they meet? Does your character have brothers or sisters? How many? How is their family situation? How does the family get along with one another? Are they pureblood, halfblood, or Muggleborn? How has this affected them? Are there any significant events in your character's life that have influenced them now, both physically and emotionally?

If you are unsure about what you want your Sample Role play to be about, here are a few suggestions. However, you may choose to Role Play something totally different, but take these suggestions to heart.

• Role Play the sorting. What did the Sorting Hat say? How did your character feel about it? Was there a particular house they really wanted to be in? What was it like for your character to have to stand up in front of the entire school? What was their initial reaction for seeing the great hall for the first time?
• In 300 words please describe your character's experience when they first enter Hogwarts including interaction with other students.

*You must have a written description of your character's physical appearance! It's fine if you wish to include a photo, but the written description MUST be there.

**Special requests such as being a werewolf, veela, vampire; having a pet other than cat, rat, owl, toad; or any special powers or objects like Occlumency/Legilimency, an Invisibility Cloak, or a Marauder's Map WILL NOT BE GRANTED until you have reached the Novice level. For information on the "ranking" system, please click here. We ask that you include your special request in your profile so we can see what you are aiming for in the future. You do not have to have one. It is not a required thing, but we suggest you think about it if you want some really cool character development in the future!
