It's been quite some time and a lot of people have signed-up to beta-test the project, but I haven't seen any reports yet.

If any of you Beta-Testers and Developers has done some testing, please reply to this thread, even to tell us you haven't found any issues so far.

Thanks.

I would just like to give my feedback on setting up the vb6 environment in order to successfully compile Wav2MP3 Wizard.

Firstly, as I mainly use GNU/Linux, I had no VB development environment of any kind on my Windows XP Professional setup.

I installed Visual Studio 6.0 Enterprise Edition. After some investigation on the web I discovered that I needed an MSDN Collection and that it must be October 2001 edition or earlier to be compatible with VB6. I installed MSDN Edition October 2000.

When I downloaded that latest Beta:
3.2BETA_R338 and the accompanying Required Runtime Components
even though I ran the Runtime component installer I got errors when trying to load the project source files complaining about unregistered jwldbutn2b.ocx.

To solve this I had to run:

CODE
regsvr32 jwldbutn2b.ocx

Now the project compiles but still complains about missing frmAUInfo.frm file when I load the project.

That is about all the feedback I have for now. I just thought it might be helpful to report what is necessary for setting up the vb6 environment on a vanilla XP setup from the viewpoint of somebody who hasn't used VB in almost ten years.

until later,
Alan.

Thanks for your feedback Alan, I'm glad to see someone finally posting a reply. To your issues now...

I don't see why the runtime components installer does not register jwldbutn2b.ocx, since I've told it to do so. Those of you who know Inno Setup's coding structure should be familiriar with this:

CODE
Source: ..\references\JwldButn2b.ocx; DestDir: {sys}; Flags: regserver restartreplace sharedfile

However, I'll add a custom bat file registering that control again, in case the installer fails. Thanks for reporting this.

As for frmAUInfo.frm, since R338 it should not be needed since it's not used at all. Although the next source I'll post won't have this problem, you can fix this issue yourself by notepad'ing Wav2MP3id3.vbp and removing the line that says:

CODE
Form=frmAUInfo.frm

Hope I've helped, and I'm sorry you had those issues. Any other issue or question that comes up, don't hesitate to reply.
