Okay, this bloggy is up for you to check on the latest news on the development of the next big version (3.2) of Wav2MP3 Wizard, announced here. You'll be able to check on all the features that are going to be implemented, and their development status.as
--------------------------- The version 3.2 is out in public betas and shall be updated as regularly as possible. News about it will be posted in the news subforum. This article should be considered obsolete. --------------------------- -- Implementation of FLAC encoder --- STATUS: Stable - The FLAC encoder has been successfully added to the program. Note that tags will NOT be supported for this encoder. -- Implementation of MP3Steno feature --- STATUS: Postponed for future version - Currently planning on how we'll implement this feature inside this program. Judging by its functionality, it will be most likely added as a non-tag MP3 encoder. This feature will not appear in v3.2 but is planned for a future version. -- Advanced use of a separate unsupported encoder via command line parameters --- STATUS: Hopefully Stable, needs user testing - This is a feature for experienced users that want to use an encoder that is not natively supported by Wav2MP3 Wizard. You'll have to enter the full command line along with the required parameters and leave Wav2MP3 Wizard to handle the batch encoding/decoding. We're going to include some examples in the help file. -- Automatic encoding of a selected folder --- STATUS: Stable - This feature will allow you to select a directory and without having to take any other step (that is having in mind you've already set the encoder you want to use and its options) the program will automatically encode or decode all supported files in that folder. An automatic check will be added so that if you select an MP3, OGG or FLAC file, instead of re-encoding them with the currently selected encoder (which would most probably lead to an error), the quick encode function will decode them instead. That means, unfortunately, that MP3 re-encoding with Quick Encode will not be possible, not yet at least. -- Have an option to apply AutoTag by default on all files added --- STATUS: Stable - An option was added in the Options screen so that you won't have to use "Use AutoTag on all files" every time you add a file, but the program will automatically do so, if the option is enabled. -- Change "Save As..." directory for all at once --- STATUS: Stable - Up to the current version, you have to change the Save As... path for each file individually. We're planning to automate that feature as well, so that you can choose a new folder to save all encoded files and that folder will be applied to all files in the list at once. -- Create Simple and Advanced modes --- STATUS: Postponed for future version - I've found that each time a new advanced option is added, the program gets that bit harder for novice users to understand and use. Simple mode will hide all advanced options, replace some options with new ones which are easier to understand by novice users and help notes in each window. Advanced mode will have all the options, unchanged. This feature will not appear in v3.2 but is planned for a future version. -- Do not let command-line windows take focus and intervene with users' work --- STATUS: Stable - A thing which really annoyed me with command line windows up to the current version is that each time they popped-up, they automatically took focus. We made all command-line windows that popped-up start minimized and with no focus, so that you can keep on with your work while your favorite tracks are being encoded. Also we have added a feature that shows you how many files have completed while encoding/decoding takes place. This will show on the program's title bar, as well as on it's taskbar entry! So, next time you'll encode your files, you'll just press that button and do your job, without Wav2MP3 Wizard getting in your way! -- Move List in the Main window and move encoding options to another window, or a pop-up one. --- STATUS: Postponed for future version - This is the first big design change Wav2MP3 Wizard will undergo, as I've decided to go with the very popular and straight-forward design of having the File List in the Main Window, and encoding options separately. I'll make sure they can be quickly previewed and changed, though, so that the user doesn't have to browse through Menus and Windows to change a single encoding option. This feature will not appear in v3.2 but is planned for a future version. If you have any features in mind that you want to see added in the next version, there's still time! Want to criticise any of our choices, just do it! Just reply to this or this topic with your opinion and ideas!
