Komraden!

In order to more effectively prepare and then celebrate Pruskvian heritage month here in the People's Republic of Wachensburg, I believe it is time to allow us to set this Pruskvian Heritage month apart from all others by the creation of something that will define Pruskvia long into the future and indeed all the way back into its long past.

This Komraden, is a contest to see who can write up the best story for The Pruskvian National Hero: Luskan. Who ask we have mentioned is the National Hero of Pruskvia, but what exactly for?

Currenty he just kind of exists as someone who is merely there, nothing much else is mentioned about him. And so he is at current merely the Hero of Pruskvia, for no real reason.

This contest shall put an end to that, and allow us to create a fully functioning history of Pruskvia's most famous hero, as well as one of their national symbols.

The Contest shall be taken care of thus:

1. We shall set the end of the contest for the end of 15th of June 2007.

2. All Komraden may participate at their leisure, but the opportunity to influence to a huge degree an entire nation here in Wachensburg, is a rare opportunity. I would suggest jumping on it.

3. To enter, one must write up at least a 5 paragraph (4-7 sentence paragraphs) piece of story telling who he was, where he was born, what he did, How he got his famous sword (It is hanging in a Museum in Vilnas [It is Black and Brass, in the colors of Pruskvia]), who he fought, and how he died. (It has to be in the age of the sword, so from Iron age up until the Rennaisance period. roughly 500 A.D.-1400 A.D.)

Another option is to write a romantic poem about him, that tells basically the same things, but in a shorter and more rythmic style. (This is open to any kind of interpretation)

4. These are all open to anyone's imagination, and I want to see creativity in them. smile.gif Tie in things from Wachensburgish/Pruskvian history, establish relationships, dates of battles (you can create battles and wars as needed, there were tons back in the day.) Everything is open to your interpretation.

5. For inspiration I would reccomend looking up the following figures:

1. Charlemagne Of the Holy Roman Empire
2. Skanderbeg of Albania (A really good one for this.)
3. Alexander the great (Please, don't have him conquer the entire world, Pruskvia is powerfull when united, but not that powerful. tongue.gif )
4. Julius Caesar
5. and to a degree: Ernesto "Che" Guevara, and Fidel Castro. (Less Socialist influence however, focus more on their heroic marches and battles.)

All of these people provide inspiration for these kind of works, but Are deffinetly not just limited to them. Many figures in human history have a heroic quality to them.

I look forward to seeing many entries, and indeed reading upon them.

The winner shall be determined by some method I am quite unsure yet of working with. Quite possible a popular vote.

In either case, I wish all good luck, and happy writings. smile.gif

(P.S. If this will not highlight a Komrade for a Literature award, I don't know what will.)

Herr Von Roth,

Wouldnt you also say he's a bit like William Wallace?

The setting for his greatness is what will decide what inspirations you should draw off of. For instance, William Wallace was fighting off the English to regain Scottish Independence. If Luskan is a disinherited prince and comes back for the crown, you would want to draw off of Hamlet or MacDuff.

Is he a commoner thrust into glory? Or is he a nobleman who finds his glory?

I'm going to set off straight away and start working on my entry. cool.gif

Komrade Kirsch his it spot on,

It depends largely on how you wish to develop him. Largely how you wish for him to exist in the world itself, and what exactly his background and history was. It can be anything, just as long as it is heroic and gives him an important place in Pruskvian history. smile.gif

I myself shall be writing up an entry, especially since I have a few ideas I may wish to go with him. smile.gif

But feel free to draw on many sources Komrade Van Duerischt, there is a world full of examples, both on Micras (rec-war histories) and in the Macroworld. William Wallace, is merely another of those references. You can develop him in that sense if you wish. This is a free-writing contest as it were, so there are few limits placed on what he was. We want creativity after all. cool.gif

Besides, the pruskvians need someone to be proud of, as well as something to have in their culture. They are Old Prussian yes, but are Micronationalized and made a little more basic so that others can add to them easily. The Old Prussians were pretty obscure after all.
