So Tekira suggested it, and I figured we were going to overflow the tv thread, so here is the special place we can talk about Korra! There have been three episodes so far. What are you thinking about the series, and what do you hope or think might happen next?

Great! I'll just copy my post from the tv-thread then, to keep the discussion going:

QUOTE
By the way, I heard that Zuko's still alive...at age 87. Not sure of its confirmation yet, but I heard that his daughter is the current Firelady of the Fire Nation as he have abdicated. biggrin.gif

All nations have been unified right? Then there can't be a fire lady (I haven't read the second part of the Promise yet, please don't spoil me).

I really like the tone of the Legend of Korra. It's very different from the Legend of Aang, which makes it a good stand alone show. If they would make it like tlo Aang, comparisons would have been made unavoidable and then the second show always comes out worse.

About Amon, I think it's a character or descendant of a character we already know. When the mask will be removed, I expect a big schocker-effect. And I think the Equivalists do have a point. The world is ruled by benders and the wars are caused by benders. That makes them very believable antagonists. It's not like the Fire nation who just fight because they want more power.

I wished you guys are on the Digimon forum, since I also created an "Avatar and The Legend of Korra" thread but not a lot of people to discuss and post comment about it. tongue.gif

Well, first of all, yes and no, tekira. The four nations still exist as Roku stated that there must be a balance of the the four elemental nations. Zuko's daughter is now the current Firelady of her nation, (they just confirmed it on it's official Nick website). Aang and Zuko only united the Fire Nation colonies in the Earth Kingdom into the United Republic as stated by Tenzin in the opening sequence of the first episode. wink.gif

I love Korra! biggrin.gif
And by that I mean both the character and the series. tongue.gif
Seriously, I love Korra's no-nonsense, confrontational, door kicking action girl attitude.

I can really appreciate how the series tries to distance itself from ATLA as much as it can. It really tries to stand on it's own rather than depend on ATLA's popularity. And there's a million other things I want to write now, but I can't come up with the words. tongue.gif

Yeah, I've only just seen episode 3 and already I can't wait for the next episode. tongue.gif

Incidentally, I made a Candirocks comic about Korra a few weeks ago. It's up here if you're interested.
And no, this isn't the April fool's comic. wink.gif

LOL. I love it whenever they made those funny faces in this series, including that part when the food vendor said, "Then what good are you to me?!" when Korra has no money. One of my favorite was when Korra made a "Oh, yeah?1 Well, I got my eyes on you!" look at Lin Beifong...it's so hilarious I just have to use it for my signature. LOL laugh.gif

I love it when Gommu asked if he could have one of her "tasty-smelling fishies" and had a conversation with her and laughed when his bush "sparkles". Maybe Gommu will be this series' version of the "Cabbage guy". laugh.gif

Or in the new one, Korra makes a face when Mako comes to visit Airtemple Island to look for his brother. When Jinora and Ikki ask Korra uncomftorable questions about Mako. Korra made one of those faces and earthbends Jinora and Ikki away and they land softly with their airbending. laugh.gif Korra makes the face real fast, so you have to look for it.

I already know that one because I've linked the video to one of the threads a week before its original air date.

Yes, but does everyone have to know that you know? wink.gif

Besides, it's in the right thread now.

And, have to add awesome expression for Korra when she's doing the fire. She almost looks like a psycho. I wouldn't want to steal her food. laugh.gif

Also, even though Ikki and Jinora don't appear as much as I want, every time they do, they're too funny. tongue.gif

Anyone here think Bolin is like Sokka? He's so goofy. I kinda want Korra paired with him, but Mako has that cool guy personality so I'm not sure which would be best. Or maybe later in the episodes they will bring a new guy that she could date.

Here's another funny scene that I like. The part where Tenzin says, "Don't bring my mother into this!". His face turns red hot as if he just consumed a bag full of fire flakes and the funny music that goes with it.

I agree. Those are all too funny! They manage to mix seriousness with humor wonderfully.

One of my favorite moments was when Korra met Bolin. When he said they were together, and Korra freaked out, and then he freaked out and said that he didn't mean to imply it and she says cooly "Oh, you implied it." It just made me feel that they really can apply the show more to a teen age range.

More of a fan of the avatar's luck myself, being able to tap all four elements. And theoretically also should be able to channel lightning, blood bend, and metal bend as well as energy bend.

Don't forget the other sub-bending, too. Like icebending, sandbending, plantbending, and soundbending. laugh.gif

Ice bending is too close to water bending for me to think they're different, just about every waterbender seems to be able to do this (even Katara before she got any formal training). Same goes to sand bending with earth bending. Plant bending (I presume this is the "soggy swamp style" mentioned in one episode) seemed just like using water bending to manipulate hollow vines and similar plants.

Sound bending, that's not something I recall having seen before.

soundbending was used when Aang amplified the air and made the sound he was making from his bison whistle travels much farther and wider to attract the zoo animals in Ba Sing Se.

I meant sound bending as an attack. I have a theroy that Tarrlok is Aang's grandson from his daughter's (Kya) side. Anyone else think so?

Yeah, now that I think about it, Tarrlok could be Kya's son.

Not all forms of bending are for attack. It depends how you use it.

Since there are no confirmation yet, I will doubt that Councilman Tarrlok is Kya's son...come to think of it, I will doubt it even more since Kya and Bumi are a lot older-looking than Tenzin and Tarrlok looks way younger than Tenzin.
