PROTECT IP, SOPA Breaks The Internet

Not everything on Mega Upload is stolen material - some people simply use it to upload photos etc. So I think it was kind of unfair for them to shut it down >:(
Say no to SOPA and PIPA!

it's very easy. it's been the standard for downloading for the past 10 years anyway. so look it up. it's worth it.

You know, I'm wondering if 'Anonymous' on the internet will do something bad in protest. Those people can be pretty extreme, but so is SOPA.

My fellow Digimon fans and I were also talking about this on our own forum and I saw one of them posted something like this:

"Most of us know that Megaupload was raided and shutdown. Well if anyone has downloaded or uploaded copyrighted they might be looking at a hefty fine or even time in jail"

that sounds scary, indeed. hell - i think most of us here would be guilty then.

But, can they really do this?! Can this really happen?!

As far as I know in the Netherlands, downloading is not illigal, only uploading is. But I'm not sure.

This is really getting out of hand. If it becomes true that America has the power to demand extradition of internet 'criminals', where will they keep them? There are too many people who under this law could be prosecuted for the smallest thing. Surely the prisons can't hold all of them? And it would be a waste of time and money to bring everyone to court.

I hope this does not become a witch hunt. (No pun intented).

I have a feeling this will not go for long. It may have gone quiet for now, but I think t will be back under a different name with changed wording when the discussion about it has died down.

They could pass it quietly when the public is focused on a different crisis. That's usually what politicians do. They wait until the public is distracted, then pass laws without much trouble.

Oh, f#$%. All of these talk about SOPA, PIPA, and now something else. Why do I get the feeling that they're trying to create a dystopian future for us?

See, this is what I meant. If they can't get you one way, they will try a different approach. So now I wonder what their real goal is. One way or the other, someone wants to restrict internet use, but for what purpose? Are they trying to be like China or South Korea with their internet restrictions?

My father and some of his colleagues at his factory noticed the same thing for years and one of them accused the greedy bosses for treating them as if they were living in a communist society, and he was right. As for those greedy bosses? They just scratch each others' backs and think that he's being too negative on the subject. (putting on sarcastic tone) Wow! That is so surprising. Of course they don't see it that way because they're too busy squeezing their workers and my father's necks to work and produce more goods while they bask in the glow of wealth and profit! If you live too high in the mountains, how can you possibly understand the poorer villagers that live beneath you?!

i use torrents but most of the stuff are on the uploading sites

anyway, the problem is extremely severe, it's not about downloading, it's about a whole lot more.

i hope that they can stop or delay this one too,because this is even worse than PIPA or SOPA

For us EU ppl its called ACTA and it not even publicly known till now that something like this was passed and ready to get signed. Bad for me my gov. wants to sign it tommorow so the witch ftp is fucked
