Ok, first I want to say, i'm new on this website, so this question may have already been asked. Also, I'm from the Netherlands, so my English is maybe not so good.

But now about my question. I read Witch from the early beginning, and it's said that in the first season, Will and Cornelia are 14 yeas old, and Irma, Taranee and Hay Lin 13. My question is: how old are they now (say, witch issue 71)?

I don't know or the witch adventures happen in real-time. If it is so, Will and Cornalia would be 21, and the others are 20 (the first Witch episode was published in 2001, and now it's 2008, so it's seven years later). I dont think this is the right theory actually.

This is another theory: As far as I know, three Christmas Specials had been published, so now it would be 3 years later in witch-world. Will and Cornelia would be 17 years old then, and Irma, Taranee and Hay Lin 16. This theory could be right.

What do you think of this? How old are the Witches? Do you kow the awnsers or do you have a theory? I'd love to hear it all!
Thank you!

I don't think it works either of those ways. But I could be wrong.

Maybe it's been a year or 2 since the series started, in W.I.T.C.H. time. I believe they've had at least 1 summer vacation, so it's at least a year since it started.

But I'm not the most knowledgable on the comics. Irmalover or MC or Loopy probably know the more accurate info.

Long running stuff like this tend to have big ass plot holes like this. I haven't read the comics yet I just fished watching the series last month (in like a week smile.gif. Do they ever have birthday party's in the comic or at least mention them? Are there any calendars in the back round also has it been the same person running the show the whole time? Emailing him/her would solve this easily. My guess is that they are probably a year older just for the sake of continuity and they never mention age so the readers can still relate to them (think they are their age).

Hmm. this is a very tricky question! ..
But my guess would be that will and cornelia are 15-16 years old and Irma, Hay lin and Taranee are 14-15 years old. And Matt wold be 17-18 years old..

That's just what i think! it's not a fact! xD

I tought, you can also count how much years have passed since the beginning by counting the seasons. just look how often it is winter (or summer, or fall, wathever you like) on the background. I think this is the only solution to this problem, but I don't think anyone has the time or patience to do that. Maybe I'll do it one time.

I've been looking through the comics, and the only time there is winter (aside from the christmas specials) is in arc one, comic number 9

I don't think that is true (no offence) because the seasons are definitly changing during the story. It has been a couple times winter and a couple times summer (you can tell by the clothes ans the weather). Also, in one of the specials, it's Hay Lins Birthday, and in the Elyon Special, the girls tell that they are all in the next grade. (I don't kwow very well to say that in English wink.gif )

Wow, if it's true that there only has been one winter (I know there is another winter in the beginning of the new power) then everything that has happened has happened just during ONE year (since the comic started with Halloween for the girls) ?? that sounds very unreasonable and unrealistic to me...

I agree. So Susan and Dean met, engaged, and married in one year. That just isn't possible. I'm going to look up my old WITCHes and count the seasons as soon as possible. And winter doesn't mean snow. It can also be winter without snow. If you look at the covers, it has been winter 4 times. (based on the covers at this page http://home.versatel.nl/m.th.joustra/tekst...andestrips.html ) So, if witch started right before the first winter (halloween), +- 3 years have passed, like my theory in my first post.

usually, each saga lasts for a year (with the exception of saga 5) so each comic could represent a month and so, each saga means a year has passed, however, the covers were done for each month in publication, and may not neccesarily represent months in the witch universe.

yeah, the covers has not much to do with the comic inside, especially not outside of Italy tongue.gif
I could talk of some more unrealistic events but that would be spoilers.

I'm not sure if exactly 3 years have passed, and definitely not more than that in my opinion. I reread all of the arcs a month ago and the last few arcs don't seem to be progressing time at all, at least in our view. Although with what we know happens in New Power and Teach to Be W.i.t.c.h. with Susan and the others...by then they will most likely be over 3 years older than they were from the start of the series. But at the current issue we're on, it has to be more than one year, but it does seem like it's been more than 2 years. Or maybe that's just me inferring and drawing conclusions since the last few arcs haven't shown many hints at the year passing? It sure is one big mystery

But I know that none of the Guardians have celebrated their birthdays, at least not in the actual comic series. The only ones I remember having a passing birthday were Susan and Lilian

yeah but imagine celebrating every main character's birthday, that would be many birthdays and maybe a bit tiering reading about them after a while tongue.gif after all, that's not always so important. Maybe when you're 1-12, it's a big event, but maybe not if you have to save the world laugh.gif

Wow, it is a bit hard to believe it's been only one year. I just remember one summer break, when the dance school opened. Pretty sure that was during their summer break.

Wow, those girls are busy though. tongue.gif

But that wasn't the only summerbreak! It's also summerbreak at the start of the Nerissa Saga, when Caleb is in Heatherfield! So 1,5 years have passed when the dance school opened, because the first Witch episode is while Helloween. and in Witch 65, the girls are swimming at the beach, so it's probably summer again. So, 2,5 years have passed definitely.

I don't think that any time has passed because in New Power They're getting mature. Nothing about becoming older (expect of specials) have bewen mentioned. In my opinion, a witch year is different from ours. I think they're at the same age in the beginning, as they're in the same class smile.gif

sorry to let you down, sailor chibi, but that is not true.
first of all, of course time passes!
and second: they are not all in the same class.
and third: the new powers, only change their transformation!
it's not like all of them gets more mature after just one issue.

Read the first post and you will see the info from the beginning of the comic.
if we knew what classes they are in NOW, this thread wouldn't be necessary tongue.gif

lol, too true...at least you can tell that they've grown slightly from the first few issues to now. What we know for sure is that over a year has passed. What we don't know is if it's been 2 or 3 years or even more than that (which I seriously doubt.) At least in Issue 24, Will mentions that she's not even 16 yet when her dad *coughs* gives her keys to a scooter. So then between the 1st and 2nd arcs a year passed, but that means that anywhere from the 3rd arc on could have happened in the same or 2 years

my theory- 2 options:
1. between issues 20-71 (at least) there's only one schoolyear, because was no summer vacation. the only time they were in the sea (issue #65) they said it's temporary vacation. about the 3 xmas problem- well, it's not really 3. it's one in the school before they vacating, december 24th i think. so 2 specials can be in the same year.
2. there is a hidden summer vacation somewhen between these issues. it's optional because in Cornelia&Caleb (that chronogically between issues #22-23) special was a birthday in Cornelia's house, of youth (not Harol or Elizabeth). Lilian's birthday is later, so it's Cornelia's bday, may 10th. if you calculate the timeline since issue #23, it passes the june 30th somewhen in the issue 30s.

but i prefer the 1st option, because it looked like the special is just a dream or something, like someone here told me.
