Harry leaned back as the hogwarts train passed green meadows and farms. He sighed, ron and hermione were now head boy and girl and had less time to spend with him on the train. Harry started to open another chocolate frog when he heard a voice.

"Excuse, me do you mind, everywhere else is packed," the voice said. Harry looked up and his jaw almost dropped. A slim girl about his age was standing in the doorway, she wore a dark black cloak which parted abit and he caught a glimse of black slim jeans and a spaghetti strap shirt.

"N-not at all," he stammered, she sat down across from him, and harry remebered that she was the new girl who had changed school. " I'm Harry," he said. She smiled alittle bit, she was wearing black lipstick that smoothed across her lips.

"I'm Katara, Katara Black," She said. Harry was stunned.

"Are you, Sirius Blacks daughter?" he asked slowly. She seemed surprised and her eyes drifted to the floor.

"Yes, i am, and you were his god son," she said simply. Harry nodded. They were quiet for a while and Harry heard a soft purring sound and looked up. Her hair was cover with the hood of her cloak, but he could faintly see a pair of yellow eyes watching him in the darkness of the hood.

"That's Shakrah," Katara said watching harrys gaze on the animal, the animal slowly came out and jumped on the seat next to Katara and yawned.

You know I was wondering how long it was going to take you to write this story. Any way... KEEP GOING!! I love this story! :D

Harry offered her a chocolate frog when Seamus came in. "hey harry, i learned a new spell, watch" seamus muttered some words and waved his wand, suddenly his robes caught on fire, Harry moved back and hit the glass bottle of water sitting next to him, it fel and crashed. He looked at Katara and he was momentarly frozen, Kataras eyes had began to glow bright white as she moved her hands over the water, Harry was about to ask what she was doing but then stopped.

The water rose and slithered around Kataras arm like a snake, she threw it over Seamus who was dancing trying to put his robes out. The splash stopped him, he spit out water and looked up, his hair and robes now soaked. "Thanks, i'll be getting more dry clothes now," Seamus sulked out of the capartment. Kataras eyes had turned back to silver and her smile was gone.

"How did you do that?" he asked.

*Watches the two*

"Family secret," she replied. Harry didn't press on he just looked out the window. Soon two people entered the compartment, Ron and hermione were handing out flyers for a new addition to the school year. A back yo school dance in the great hall.

"Hey harry, who's your new friend," Ron asked. Hermione shifted her papers and looked at Katara, her eyes wide.

"She's Sirius' daughter, you look just like him exept for your eyes," Hermione said. "You are also a Water Bender,"

"A what bender," Ron and harry asked together.

"A Water Bender, i can control water," Said Katara.

Harry was still trying to process this as he stared once again out the window. Katara was now petting the black catlike creature on her lap that Katara called, Shakrah. When darkness came the train stopped, Harry had put on his school robes and so had Katara. Harry saw her hair that was hidden befaore. It was pitch black like Sirius' and it reached past her waist in a half ponytail.

"Why do you keep your hair hidden," He asked as they hopped off the train. She shrugged.

"i don't know, i always liked my hood up but when i parted my hair to come out from the sides, it always hid my face," she answered. Harry had spotted Cho on the way, she was still upset that cedric was dead but he was thankful that she had stopped crying every few minutes.(i hate cho alright)


The great hall was decorated for the new year and the hourglasses representing each house was empty...for now. Cho waved at Harry and smiled, Harry waved back.

"Is that your girlfriend," Katara asked watching Cho. "she is very pretty," she added. Harry smiled.

"she is pretty but she isn't my girlfriend," he answered.

Later after Katara had been sorted into Gryffindor, Harry introduced her to all his friends, including Neville, who had lost Trever, his toad, again.

"Are you hungry?" Harry asked as he piled his plate. He felt puzzled when he saw Kataras eyes, how sad they looked.

"Not really," She answered quietly

"Are you okay, youve been upset ever since you put out Seamus' robes. Whats wrong," he asked again.

"Nothing. I'm tired, see you tomarrow, harry," she got up and walked out of the great hall.

Harry didn't see much of ron or hermione but he remembered the slytherins started playing pranks on the first years and thought nothing of it. It was a bright day and classes didn't start till a week later so harry could enjoy outside on the grounds, he saw Katara in the distance sitting on a stone bench. He suddenly felt a pull on his robes.

"Hey Harry!" Cho said as he continued to watch Katara. "Why are you watching her, I thought you liked me," She said slowly following Harry's gaze.


"Yeah, i did like you, now i don't, sorry Cho." He couldn't beleive it he had just turned down the prettiest girl in school for the new girl. His second thought was, why.

" I don't see why you like her, she looks so different, hell she is different, I heard the she can control water and other elements too, with her hands." Harry didn't listen, he was still thinking even after Cho gave up and walked away. Walking down the hall he noticed Fluer Delacour(sp) walking toward her new DADA office. Harry was glad that a new proffesor was here and he was hoping she was the last one.

"hey Katara what are doing?"Harry asked. Katara shrugged.

"Nothing really, just enjoying the outdoors," she said reponytailing her hair. "You want to sit down?" She asked.

"Uh, sure, I was wondering, do you have a date for the back to school dance?" he asked.

"No, why?" She said, Harry gulped, why was it so hard to ask her the dance, it was just a date.

"I was wondering, if you would like to go with me," He said finally. She smiled.

"Sure I would love to go with you," She said.

The ball was in a week and Harry was still dazed, why was he nervous around her, he used to be nervous around Cho, now he talked to her like he would hermione, like a normal friend. Harry sometimes saw Katara in his classes he noticed more details about her like her hair was like veelas hair but black instead of silver, her eyes always seemed to glow when in sunlight, he couldn't understand it. Suddenly he heard whispering in the opposite door as he walked down the hall. He took out the magical ear on a string that Fred and George sent him for his birthday and listened.

"You like him don't you," A voice Harry never heard before spoke, the next voice answered and he was shocked to find out it was Katara's

" He is sweet, and nice, but I'm not sure, we just met," she answered. Harry heard a snort from the other person. He listened but there was nothing else to hear. He put the ear away and continued walking while wondering who that other person was

Harry's next class was Herboligy with Katara. He got his books and headed toward the greenhouse. As he neared it he heard voices which could only be Malfoys. He turned the corner and saw him annoying Katara who was backed against the wall her face twisted in disgust.

" I already said no, i already have a date," Katara said.

"Well ditch the loser and go with me," Malfoy said smirking. Katara shook her head as if she gave up

"NO!" she said finally, as soon as the words left her mouth Malfoy was shot backward in a tree, Katara gasped and started to run down the hall. Harry stood stunned for a minute.

"Katara, wait!" he yelled after her and ran

He couldn't find her, he leaned against a wall and sighed, suddenly he heard a heartbeat close to his ear he turned and grabbed at the air and caught something

"Ow hey watch it," Katara appeared Harry found what his hand grabbed and dropped his hand emmidiatly and blushed

"Sorry," he muttered

Katara tried to run again but this time Harry grabbed her and pulled her into an empty classroom and lockred the door.

"What is going on Katara!?" He said frustrated. "Why do you keep running from me and everyone else,"


"You wouldn't beleive me if i told you!" she finally screamed. "Anyone i have ever told my secret to has said i was crazy, they say its impossible, thats why,"

"But why do you always run?"

"Because...last time i ran away from something....it saved my life," she sighed and a single tear stretched down her face.

"You never had parents harry but you never really got to know them, I got to know my parents, which made it worse, my mother died in my arms, i felt her heartbeat slow to a stop, I saw my father die in the war, at the small age of four i saw more blood than any dang person alive!," this time she fell to the ground crying, Harry didn't speak, he..couldn't. All he did was crouch down next to her and hugged her, slowly her sobs came to an end.

"I'm sorry," he said. he went to pull away, and saw that she had fallen asleep in his arms, Harry knew that the anger in someone takes alot of their energy, he understood that, so he took of his robe and wrapped her and himself, then leaned back against one of the desks and fell asleep with her.

Harry was awoken by someone shaking him, his eyes then focused on Kataras moonlit face.

"Harry we have to go, its 11:00 at night," she said franticly. Harry was wide awake by now. He grabbed her hand and they slowly made it to the gryffindor entrance with the help of Kataras invisability spell, they said the password and crept in. Harry help her in and smiled.

"Well i guess i'll see you tomarrow Katara," Without realizing what he was doing, he kissed her and pulled away. She was stunned for a minute, then smiled faintly.

"Goodnight," she said and walked up the girls staircase, little did harry know that behind her eyes of joy, there was sadness and tears.

Harry awoke smiling the next day. he quickly got dressed and went down to the common room.

"Harry where have you been?" Hermione asked as she put down the book. Harry stopped.

"I was with Katara, we were, uh...talking," he said

"About what?" Ron asked as he lounged on one of the couches.

"Nothing important, Malfoy was bugging her," he said trying to change the subject, but hermione saw the faint smile, she stood up and walked closer to him. She put a finger to harrys lips and looked at her finger. she looked into his eyes and showed him the dark smudge on her finger.

"Is this...lipstick?" she asked supiciously.


"Uh, yes," Harry said. Ron's jaw dropped. Hermione didn't seem surprised.

"Harry when you first noticed her, what did look at first?" Hermione asked looking through her book.

"Her eyes," Harry said.

"Thats strange. If you both haven't noticed, she is part veela, most boys focus on her hair, veela hair holds most of the beauty and power, yet you fell for her naturally," hermione said.

"Was she a good kisser?" Ron asked, after regaining all control of the info.Harry smiled.

"I would go as far to say that compared to Katara, Cho's kiss seemed like a peck on the cheek."
