o_O

Oh my, if we're to infer that that's Zirrus' tail, then that might be a rather anti-climatic end to our resident supervillain. Although not unsatisfying for those looking to see him pay I suspect.

Of course, it could be someone else's tail, or maybe she just took his tail and spared his life?

Assume for a moment that Zirrus is dead. That more or less destroys the main outside threat to & and Phasia's world (the status of his cronies or what happens if and when the government follows Twapa notwithstanding) is gone. Will Xe choose to hang around with the resistance looking to reform the local government if given the option to go home?

QUOTE (Ransom @ May 21, 09:19:19 PM)
Oh my...

That fairly much sums up my thoughts, Ransom.

It's kinda' heart warming that the girls have had this little chat. It's also fun to see Twapa's "oh, gee, wouldja' look at the time, I gotta' go" face. And it followed so nicely from the 'roorat's "OMGWTF?!?" face from the earlier panel. Facial aerobics, fun times!

I'm actually hoping that Idria did off Zirrus for two reasons. One, Xe will finally have no more excuses for the choices he makes; the weasel siblings are free. Two, no matter how much amusement I get from the round robin lack-o-love fests between Zirrus, Xe, and Idria, I also get the impression that Gloria doesn't like this festering dysfunction of the XI baggage. Unless Gloria has something planned, this turn of apparent events will close that chapter rather neatly.

This strip also marks the last time I had to draw the interior of the tent. Believe you me, I was relieved to get THAT bit of drawing out of the way!

Somebody lives a timezone east of me, It's not even Tuesday yet and Tuesday's comic is up. twapsmile.gif Edit: and in proofreading my reply, I get ninja'd on replying by two posts. Darn.

I have my doubts that the tail seen is Zirrus' tail, because you are right, that would be an anti-climactic end to what we thought was our main antagonist. Zirrus strikes me as too smart to let himself get in a situation where he would be dispatched by Irrdia. Though, to be fair, he did let himself get caught by surprise when leaving the XI facility when the clones took over. Though looking at Irrdia's tail in the previous frame, we can see that the tail on the wall is definitely similar enough to be a weasel tail. However, the monrets seem to look similar to weasels, IMO, so it is entirely possible that the tail pinned up is the tail of the monret leader which she killed. Regardless, Gloria might be tricksy like hobbitses, so I'm honestly just not sure.

I do think that Xe might stick around to help the resistance movement he is now involved in. Xe seems motived to somehow make amends for whatever sins he committed as an assassin, and probably thinks helping Ampersand and Phasia's people erect an equitable form of government may help him atone for those sins. But I'm guessing here really.

Regardless, seeing the tail of another weasel or monret or whatever pinned up on Irrdia's wall would be like seeing a genuine human skull on your new manager's desk, or something like that. Twapa's expression of horror is both appropriate and precious.

Yep, Idria's definitely adjusted. I imagine the cold-blooded, ruthless thing suits her.

I'd like to think Zirrus is gone. Something seems fitting about a megalomaniac getting in over his head and drowning in a sea of his own filling.
Though, I wouldn't all together be surprised if the tail simply wasn't his, but I don't hold out for the "took-his-tail-but-let-him-live" theory. As was stated in the thread on the previous comic, Idria never could really make her move because she'd have to deal with the outside government. Monret society is more keen to her inner ruthlessness, therefore she probably doesn't play as many or as "elaborate" mind games. There's no outside authority for her to answer to [aside from a religious one, but Idria doesn't strike me as a beliver in anything of much regard.] ...therefore she can do what ever the eff-ewe-sea she wants, including killing her da just for the spite of it.

She used to anyway... Now we're 1.5 hours north of you.

If y'all recall, Zirrus made his escape by way of the portal just prior to the gov't raid. I imagine it's likely that he found himself in a situation similar to Twapa. And the rest that have fallen through anyway.

Is Zirrus alive? Is he building an army or cowering, tail-less in a cave eating snails and trying to fashion a crude weapon out of driftwood and layer upon layer of dried algae? Will we ever know the fate of our cruel, suited nemesis? Time alone shall tell.

One thing I would like to ask though? Does Idria seem... happy?

Y'know, I've been meaning to comment on that for awhile. It's more than just being happy, Idria looks confident and relaxed. By the by, I went back looking for the tail and it's been there the whole time. But, yeah, Idria no longer looks terminally pissed off.

Adding 2 and 2, I am wondering if this leader that Idria replaced was possibly Zirrus himself... that would add a slight dynamic to the storyline.

Which of us posted the photochop of Zirrus in an Arby's sandwhich (which actually looks kinda gross like that)? twaptongue.gif

I stand by my seasoning recommendations. There is nothing screwed up about garlic.

And chinatown is just down the street from me... and I already know that squirrels and bunnys can be yummy, so why not weasel? hmm...might be a bit stringy and lean, but boil him up with some top ramen, mushrooms, seaweed, and spam and it should be fine.

maybe some jalapenio french bread on the side and a Newcastle to wash it down...

Oh! Here's a thought! Fry him up in some twobuckchuck and butter with onions and mushrooms, and sprinkle with chopped garlic...

I wonder, do you think his rear-end could open wide enough to cook him beer can chicken style? I mean, I know he isn't chicken, but the same preparation may be applicable.

Ok, need to stop posting for now... gonna go get something to eat.

I am such a tease when it comes to those weasels, but that was quite a while back... back before I chopped the hair and goatee.

Don't worry, nothing came of it, Andrick chased me arround the restaurant instead. Meanwhile Zirrus made his getaway through a portal that he opened to somewhere else.

And you know what college does to people, going and doing somethings that could get you killed or arrested, that sorta thing. That and I'm back home now, I'm never more than a short jog from one of my rifles.

It's amazing how many places I've found to stash them.
