Own a digital camera?  Want to take great pictures?
Join us for an inspirational and fun day out with your camera, led by professional photographer John Frye

Autumn is approaching - vibrant colours, slanting sunlight and misty mornings on the water. It’s a great time to test and stretch your camera skills with expert help.  Just what the Venturer Photography Day is offering.

If you are new to digital photography or simply want to learn how to shoot better pictures with your camera, then this day is for you. It’s a mix of tutorial, hands-on practice and review with professional advice on hand at all times while we cruise between Kingston and Richmond on board the Richmond Venturer.

Places on the course are limited to ten to ensure each participant gets focused help and attention. You will be taking photographs onshore and on the move and will have a chance to shoot landscapes, architecture, and nature as well as people at work, and even abstract images. At lunchtime there will be an opportunity to share ideas and tips with your fellow photographers. The day ends with a session on how to edit, upload and print your digital pictures.

The cost of the day is £95 and includes lunch and all refreshments.

    About the tutor
John Frye is a freelance photographer with a professional career spanning over 30 years. A keen promoter of digital technology John regularly gives talks to help and encourage amateur users to improve their skills. For further information, visit www.johnfrye.co.uk

    About the venue
The Richmond Venturer is a 100 year old Dutch barge converted for trips on the River Thames for small groups. Based at Kingston Barge Wharf on Thameside, it offers a unique combination of class-room space and stable platform for photographic work, with near-360 views from parts of the deck. The barge is fully equipped for use by people in wheelchairs or with other mobility problems.

    About the day
The day starts at 0900 (arrival and coffee) and ends at approx 1645 hrs. For this course the Venturer will cruise between non-tidal Kingston and tidal Richmond with its stunning views of Richmond Hill, Marble Hill House, Petersham Meadows and Richmond riverside. You will be expected to bring your own camera and memory cards and come prepared for outdoor work. Other digital equipment is provided on board.
