I went along to the opening of the exhibition yesterday and was extremely impressed firstly by the amount of photographs and secondly by the stunning quality of the work - we sure have got a lot of talented members! The easy to find spacious venue was ideal with plenty of parking and very easy access.
I would personally like to thank all of the committee for staging this in such a professional manner epecially the exhibition secretary (Alan Kelly) who must have spent many hours just hanging all of the exhibits, let alone all the other accompanying jobs like transporting, sorting, labelling etc. A very large spread was laid on for us - and what a tremendous variety there was too. The photographs were truly inspirational and I came away thinking 'MUST do better' - vowing to myself that I really must join in by doing some prints next year. Importantly the prints will be seen by many people visiting the theatre/cinema which can only be good publicity for the Society. If you fancy a good afternoon out its on until the end of November - but be warned we've eaten all of the food! Glad I went. Well done Committee - thanks. It was good to see you and so many other members there on Thursday Alan, and I am also glad that you found it so inspirational.
Alan Kelly worked his socks off to produce such a well organised event and words are just not enough to thank him for that. All of the helpers deserve a big thank you - from the initial judging of the prints to their hanging in the Artrix centre itself, those who prepared and served the food and drinks (and the clearing up afterwards) the Local MP, Julie Kirkbride, who opened the exhibition and gave out the prizes and certificates - It was a team effort by so many people, but so well put together and organised by Alan, so everybody thank you all very very much. I suppose really the biggest thanks must go to all those who members entered an image or 6 into the annual competition. An especially well done goes to those who won medals and certificates, but without you all we would not have an exhibition, so thank you one and all. So everybody, start planning now for next year, get that camera out and shoot! |
