Luna was standing calmly next to the entrance of the Great Hall, in from the Entrance Hall. The Valentine’s Day Ball had been going on for a good while, but Luna had just made it downstairs from the Ravenclaw’s tower in her purple and silver colored dress. Her dirty blond hair was up in a messy bun, and a choker with a silver colored rose was around her neck. She felt glad to look so nice for a special occasion, especially since she was waiting for Neville.

Neville nervously made his way into The Great Hall, yet couldn't help but be excited. He was wearing a black and white dress robe that looked like a tuxedo. His grandmother had bought it for him when she had heard that he was going with Luna Lovegood. She had always been fond of the Ravenclaw, and Neville couldn't be happier right now. It didn't take him long to spot the blonde. She looked beautiful, to Neville, anyway. "Hi" he greeted her nervously, yet smiling brightly at his crush.
"Hi," Luna turned her head slightly to see Neville in a black and white tuxedo-styled dress robe. She grinned a little when Neville came into view. He looked very handsome to her, moreso than usual. Her toes began to go up onto the very top to make herself go taller. "It's very nice to see you looking so handsome, Neville."

"Thanks" Neville replied, blushing a little. Yet, the poor boy couldn't help but feel a little confused. Did she mean he wasn't normally handsome? Then again, he didn't really think it mattered, either. At least she complimented him. "You look nice too" he commented, taking in her silver and purple dress. It, and Luna herself, were gorgeous.
"Thank you," She noticed the slight blush in Neville's face but ignored the fact of it. Neville was probably nervous like she was; but the way Luna showed her slight nervousness was standing up on the edge of her toes and her hands being held behind her back. "So what were you thinking of doing, Neville? Having a few refreshments, or dancing? I'm up to either..."

Neville smiled and replied "You're welcome" in his meek, yet sincere voice. He was still nervous and Luna's question didn't help. The seventh year had dancing in mind, but was too nervous for dancing at the moment. "Both, but we could have refreshments first if you'd like" he answered, still smiling at his crush. "Whatever you want to do" the Gryffindor added.
Luna concidered both options, since Neville said that she could decide what she wanted to do. She wasn't much of a dancer, but she'd like to dance at least once...that was what a dance was about, right? But then again, it may be better to get something to drink first, she was awfully thirsty..."Let's get something to drink first, and risk the fact that someone may have spiked it with sea monkies."

It was hard for Neville not to burst out laughing at Luna's mention of sea monkies. It was moments like this that Neville had a crush on the Ravenclaw. She was very interesting and amusing to say the least. Not to mention very pretty, in his eyes, anyway. "Sure, I'd love too" Neville replied, trying to hide his amusement.
"Great," Luna grinned and grabbed Neville's wrist, leading him over to the punch bowls. There were three bowls: one of butterbeer, one of pumpkin juice, and another of some fuit punch type substance. She sighed, since there was no gillywater to drink, and that was Luna's favorite. "Butterbeer would probably be the best and safest to drink. That fruit punch seems to be a breeding ground for sea monkies to me."

Neville was dragged to the punch bowls by Luna. There were three bowls: Butterbeer, Pumpkin Juice, and Punch. Neville nodded at Luna's question and found it hard not to laugh once again. "I was thinking of grabbing a glass of Butterrbeer" he told Luna with a smile. "We have Pumpkin Juice too much here, anyway."
"Indeed," Luna poured some butterbeer into a cup and sipped it casually. "I don't understand why they didn't get some gillywater, though, because sea monkies never breed in gillywater. And I love gillywater." She crossed her ankles slightly and leaned up against the table. "Shame, really."

Neville followed Luna's actions and poured himself some Butterbeer as well. "You know, I've never tried Gillywater. What does it taste like?" Sure, he knew about Gillyweed, but had actually never tried Gillywater. The Gryffindor wasn't sure what to imagine what the taste of it would be like.
"Kindof like a muggle soda, but with a bit more flavor too it," Luna shrugged. She didn't quite know how to explain it. It was very good by Luna's opinion, though, so she would have loved to have some and let Neville have a bit. "Stronger than normal soda water, but with a bit of a flavor type zing through it."

"Sounds good" Neville admitted, shrugging and still trying to imagine the taste. He took a sip of his Butterbeer and tried to think of something to say, but nothing came to mind. Why did he have to be so shy and bad at starting conversations around females? Neville had no idea and sighed at this depressing thought. Finally, after a moment of silence, he managed to ask the words "Want to go dance?"
When Neville asked her if she wanted to go dance, Luna downed the last of her butterbeer. It had been a quiet last couple of minutes while they drank, and Luna personally hated silence. Even though she wasn't much of a dancer, like she had said earlier, she welcomed the idea of dancing. "Sounds like a good idea. Lead the way, then. You probably know loads more about dancing than me."
