I saw Annie Hall a few weeks ago, and I creemed!
I immediately ordered some box sets of Woody Allen's films off of amazon.
Have since seen "Manhattan", "Midsummers Nights sex comedy" and "10 things you wanted to know about sex (but were afraid to ask)".
Anybody else a fan of his pictures and could teh recommend some other stuffz of his or other directors?

A friend of mine in Aberdeen is besotted with his stuff, and buys vinyl pressings of his comedy skits etc.

I'm away to go look up on some of it, cheers for the heads up - might torrent a wee bit on the sly tonight. I'll see if I find anything else of interest in his repetoire.

Personally can't stand his bumbling nice-guy routine. Which is all I've ever seen him doing..though willing to accept this could be slightly off as my experience is limited. He's certainly revered by enough people / talking heads on list shows / actors on evening chat shows etc etc.

Was watching a various array of his standup - Bryn does seem to have a point - but it's a somewhat comforting streak of ye olde inoffensive American comedy. He has a relatively likeable aura because he's the sort of guy who you'd imagine to promote the image of a clean livin' nuclear family whilst talking about running your neighbours down.

I'd imagine he makes for nice and light watching to have on whilst inundated with other tasks.

You're right, his standup is better. Kind of like forerunner to my own favourite pedantic Jew, Larry David.

Depends what you watch by him tbh. Some of his films are light hearted comedies (wouldn't say they were inoffensive in his day though.) His bumbling neurotic Jew act is marmite. I like it a lot personally.
I think Annie Hall and Manhattan are amazing films. Very funny while managing to be very intelligent at the same time. They are also good examples of Woody Allen's unorthodox directing style too. I think you should give those two a watch before writing him off.
