I have been an artist for many years but this year is the first time I have fiddled with computer art by use of Painter Classic, Photoshop Elements and a Wacom pentab. So far its just been experimentation in a new medium, somewhat awkward and time consuming. I suppose I should take some tutorials to learn how to manipulate everything rather than my own trial and error approach. I think you might see some changes in the illustrations as I become more acquainted with use of it all. Who says you can't teach old dogs new tricks?

-----------=Neithan - Scouting Within The Trees of Mirkwood=----------

From the roleplay Search for the Elven Ring - (page 24)

Standing upon the great branch of an ancient Beech Neithan strung his bow once more, testing its strength and alignment. Moving down to the lower branches he covered his hair with the hood of his gray cloak. Listening in complete silence, he smiled to himself, below was one of the guards on the perimeter of the grounds. The Mirkwood scout began to stalk the enemy orc who was unaware of his presence or his danger.

-----------=Glorfindel And Celulind - Together Again=------------

From the roleplay Hall of Fire - The Departure (page 68)

The blond lord listened to Ilene and Erestor discuss that fateful day in Gondolin so long ago, but his eyes never left his beloved's face. He was afraid that if he should look away she would disappear and somehow be forever lost to him. With the subject of the dialogue between them, the scenes of that mid-summer dawn came unbidden to his whirling mind. When his wife looked up to his eyes he murmured, "Nanyë nyérinqua melmenya! (I am sorry my love!) We should have had many happy years together. I was unable to protect you and I have never forgiven myself for that." The tall blond warrior hugged her small frame to him, trying to remove the picture in his mind of finding her and their young son in the wreckage of their home.

-------------Sulie and Tulus - The Saving of Sulie-------------------

From the roleplay Search for the Elven Ring (page 60)

Tulus' heart sunk, the child was injured badly. Her arm appeared to be broken and her shoulder badly damaged as well. What would he do? He had to think. He had to keep the anger he felt from coming to the surface like a cauldron of water just at the boiling point, it would not do to get angry now. He looked toward the door, wishing it to open and the enemy to pour in but rational thinking returned to him before it ever got out of hand. Oh, what he would do to the next orc he saw, given the chance!

He glanced at the child, her stuffed toy was in her mouth as she tried to move toward him. She is smart. She is keeping her crying at bay for she knows it is dangerous to make such noise that it will bring in the enemy. He couldn't keep the tears from sliding down his cheeks to watch her bravery. Tulus went to her and carefully folded her in his arms, trying not to put pressure on the injured area. He needed something to bind the arm and a cloth to make a sling but there was no item available. No, wait there was a small wardrobe alongside the wall, perhaps a cloak or something else would be useful from it.

Lifting the child, he noted she was very light. "Shhhhhh, my young one, Tulus will care for you now. See if you can stand the pain for just a while longer and we will go under the floor and try to fix it. You are a very brave girl! So brave, like a soldier! Hug me tight with your good arm, there! Rest your head on my shoulder like that and I will balance you."

Glorfindel was tall and straight; his hair was of shining gold, his face fair and young and fearless and full of joy; his eyes were bright and keen, and his voice like music; on his brow sat wisdom, and in his hand was strength.

Per suggestion, I am posting each new piece of art in another post so the thread updates. Sorry this isn't quite as new, done in October, but its the start of a change in our Artwork Forum.

-------------Glorfindel, Elladan, Elrohir and Erestor - Wine of Gondolin----------------

From the roleplay Hall of Fire - The Departure (page 84)

Glorfindel grinned at the twins as he sipped on his second glass of wine, their song was off-key but he had never heard it and it sounded funny. The wine made by the Eldar was the only kind that could effect any of them. The blond lord laughed as he noted the two glasses Elrohir and Elladan had been drinking produced this humorous effect, generally seen only in the Atani, almost as soon as they had begun drinking. Glorfindel tried singing but did not know the words, instead he decided to hum along.

The song ended but the laughter continued. Elladan and Elrohir were clinging to each other, still standing but weaving back and forth. Suddenly, verses came to the blond lord's mind unbidden. He threw his head back and in a sing-song voice, sang them out, accompanied by the uproarious laughter of the rest.

There once was a lord named Malaint,
Who swallowed some samples of paint.
All shades of the spectrum
Flowed out of his rectum
With a colorful lack of restraint

The room erupted in hysterics. Erestor had curled into a ball on the floor, coughing, his shoulders shaking with mirth and the twins could barely stand. Seeing his efforts were appreciated by his alcohol-captivated audience, and after a long drink of a third glass of wine, Glorfindel continued. The words seemed to pour through his mind and out his mouth, just as the wine seemed to pour in it and through his veins.

There once was a man named Andreath
Who sat on his set of false teeth
He jumped up with a start.
Yelled, "Eru, bless my heart!
I have bitten myself underneath!"

Both twins were on the floor laughing hysterically, tears streaming down their faces, trying to support each other. He was not quite sure how they had fallen. Erestor seemed to have disappeared behind a chair. Finally... he could not contain his mirth any longer and he sang at the top of his voice.

There once was a maid from Methedras,
Who had a magnificent ass.
Don't sit there and blink,
It's not what you think,
It was gray, had long ears and ate grass.

At the sound of bubbling laughter emitting from his own throat, Glorfindel noticed the room begin to move as if he was on a ship. He sat on the floor rather than fall over and leaned back against the wooden crate. Stretching out his long legs, he had not a care in Arda so he relaxed and looked about him. Erestor, Elladan and Elrohir looked faintly disturbing, one minute they were clearly there and the next they were hazy and indistinct, or they had moved from one spot to the other when he blinked. He looked around for the bottle of wine but, not seeing it, he immediately forgot what he was looking for. His blond head rested on top of the crate in sudden weariness. Hmm, he blinked to clear his eyes, he had never noticed the color of the ceiling and the cobwebs over in the corner near the door. He sighed and passed into oblivion.

Here is something I did for Elven Heraldry. Can you see the significance in the symbolism? There are many subtleties and meanings.

Since I have a new more powerful computer I can use Painter with a pressure sensitive tablet. I have been experimenting with pastels, oils and watercolor.
