Your posts belong here IN CHARACTER ONLY! Please continue the roleplay of The Search for the Elven Ring in this thread.

-----Notice-----
The Unique Amulet Inn was the title of a roleplay at Gathering of the Elves, where we all started. It was started by Eomana. The site owner shut the site down several times for days for "maintenance" while we were deep into roleplay and actively posting. This board is the result of being unable to post at that site. This board was created by disgusted roleplayers who vowed to never shut down for any reason in order to allow roleplayers to post when their creative energies were high.

It has been said on that site that I "stole" this roleplay and others from the other site. Actually what happened is the ACTIVE members of the Amulet Inn came here to continue it. The roleplay story is still on the other site. I did not "steal" it, anyone can post there and continue the roleplay. The active members merely moved to continue posting because they wanted to write roleplay and were frustrated with the attitude of the administration over there. They talked me into starting this board, I did not want to do it initially. Thirteen memberships created this site on October 20th. The charter members are: Arawen, Eldirn, Elrond, Eomana, Celebrían, Glorfindel, Herwen, Hobbitness, Lugdush, Nimplhaw, Rainiel, Thanatos and Wiley Dawg. Pip joined the next day. Uruviel on October22, Dinedhel and Bargash on October 23rd. Unurith on October 26th. The next memberships started in November.

To keep confusion to a minumim after I was verbally attacked by members of the other site, I decided to change the title of the roleplay. This is a very different roleplay now than the one Eomana created over at the other site and it is because the members of THIS board gave it direction.

Please forgive me for the verbose explanation. I feel like I need to speak up for myself because of the mis-information spread by some of the individuals of the other site. I have never spoken badly of the other site or any person there in any way. I encouraged them to continue the roleplay there. I have never said this site was good and that one was bad, nor have I bragged about our roleplay here being great. I AM proud of this site because of the people involved here and if that shows through in what I say, then so be it!

------end------

This roleplay takes place a little over 500 years before the war of the ring. It is Summer 2480 Third Age.

Now on to the roleplay...

As the crossbow bolt hit, Eldirn screamed, in pain and anger unabated. Her longknife still in her hand, she spun, though the movement cost her some little pain. She drew back and threw in one swift motion, in the direction from which the arrow had come, and smiled in grim satisfaction as she heard a fleshy THUNK! as the knife struck home. An orc voice raised in a cry of agony, followed by crashing sounds as several bodies forced their way through the underbrush at speed.

"DARO!" the wounded elleth shouted, then, "TIRITH! TOLO SI! YRCH!"

Eldirn started to run, then realized she could not, and until it was determined if the tip was poisoned, it would be better if she did not, lest the poison spread all the faster. "Ara," she called, waving to the young healer, "come here, quickly."

Ára turned swiftly and went to Eldrin's side.
"What has happened?" When she realized that the older Elf had been injured, she knelt beside her.
"Lay on your stomach,"she commanded. Eldrin did as she was told, almost surprised at the firmness in the young girl's usually gentle voice. Ára inspected the wound carefully.
"I do not think it is poisoned." she said softly.
Suddenly, her keen ears heard a rustle in the bushes. She snapped to attention, every muscle tense.
"Eldrin," she whispered, "I am going to help you crawl to those bushes. Then I want you to stay there. Understand?"
Eldrin nodded and they made their way to the brush. When the older Elf was safetly hidden underneath, Ára crouched, knife drawing, straining to see if friend or foe appoached.

Eldirn strained her senses to determine what was moving nearby. Drat it all! she "whispered" to Arawen. Elrond is going to kill me. As if he didn't have enough injured and sick people to tend, as it is! And of ALL places to get shot, WHY did it have to be...there?!? She stared into the trees, trying to get a look at whatever was approaching. I simply refuse to have the Peredhel treat THIS! The elleth was wound up, tense, in pain, and furious. If I get my hands on any more yrch, I swear I will rip them limb from limb...

'Something moves in the woods and your friends at the mound of stone and wood are in danger!' The small creature's words echoed in his mind at the same time Glorfindel felt a presence behind their position, closer to the inn.

"Nae yrch anglennol!" Grabbing his arrows from the ground he turned to Guilin. "Stay here, do not leave your post unless I call, there may be more coming! We know not. This noise is from inside our perimeter! Tolo Rainiel a' Celebrian aphado nin!"

Not waiting for his companions to start out Glorfindel went swiftly down the hill toward the Inn. He could see along the woodline beyond and picked up the sound of brush thrashing. His sword was in one hand now and his nerves were keyed. There stood Ara in the brush along the trees, crouched and with a knife ready in her hand. She was in a state of alertness but sighed visibly as he approached, no doubt relieved of the worry of more of the enemy. Beyond Ara a warg lay dead, it's dark blood pooling under it from a sliced throat, but there was no presence of yrch.

Looking again at the dead warg his eyes raised to scan the shade of the trees before he searched Ara for a sign of injury. Thank Eru she is uninjured he thought as he moved to the warg. Its large tracks led into the woods.

Celebrian and Rainiel arrived coming swiftly from behind the barn. Celebrian had her sword drawn and both elves eyes grew big at the sight of the warg.

"...Um," a quiet voice came from the brush somewhere behind Ara, "some assistance would be appreciated, mellyn nin. I am not sure, having gotten down here, that I can now rise unassisted..."

The others turned to view the talking bush behind Arawen with some puzzlement; after all, the Ents were all far to the south. The bush began to move, and suddenly Eldirn's upper body became visible beneath it. "I fear I have been...somewhat wounded," the Chief Astronomer admitted. "The bolt is still lodged in the wound. I would be greatly indebted if someone would have the kindness to remove it."

Elrond will surely kill me...and Glorfindel will not let me hear the end of it, 'til the end of my days...

"Chief Astronomer!!!" Glorfindel gasped in surprise moving to help her out of the brush. "Where is your wound, you look well for one taking..." a strange look passed across Glorfindel's face, "an arrow in your... uh", he searched desperately for a word that was more dignified than the one that came to mind initially, "Hindquarters."

He helped her rise and limp out onto the grass with the aid of Celebrian then looked at Rainiel who was trying to hold a serious expression. "I am sorry you have been injured in such a way Eldirn." Sincerity was in Glorfindel's tone but mirth lay just behind his eyes. "It does not look dangerous however and there seems to be no poison judging by your reaction. Perhaps Celebrian and Ara will help remove the arrow while Rainiel and I go check the woods."

Eldirn smacked Glorfindel a resounding one across his shoulder. "Behave, you scamp of an excuse for an Eldar!" she scolded. "Think not that I cannot see the laughter behind your eyes!" She gestured at the warg. "It may not be a Balrog, oh great warrior, but I have been hard at work here. My injury is evidently an attempt at payback. And," she continued, as the golden-headed Elf turned to begin his woodland search, "if you find the owner of THIS --" she gestured at the arrow lodged in her gluteals, "please retrieve my longknife which I sent him in exchange, and bear it back to me."

Then she grimaced, as pain shot down her leg. "Methinks...I...would like...to get this out...now," she panted, knees starting to give way. "Ara...help, dear..."

Eomana heard the whinny of a horse from the open window, also the sounds of a fight. She felt anxious as she carried Pip to the healing room and put her on a cot. Looking at Herwen she spoke. "Mellon nin, can you stay here while I go and make some tea for Uruviel?" she asked. She went to the kitchen to crush the esse' qualme and athelas leaves and boil some water. When it was done she took it upstairs and entered the room. She put it to her lips. "This will help you, hiril nin. I must find someone to guard the room."

Rainiel slowly followed Glorfindel and Celebrian around the barn still carrying her tiny friend the rabbit. She was shocked when suddenly Elrond's daughter and his chief astronomer stood before her. Her eyes grew big at the sight of the dead warg. 'How can I do this?' she asked herself, wondering how she could fight and still keep the rabbit safe. She then thought of a solution.

"Will you all excuse me for a while?" she asked softly. "I have something I need to take care of." Having received permission from Glorfindel she entered the Inn and found a satchel to place the rabbit in. She came back out and went to retrieve her bow that she had foolishly left behind. When she returned she asked if she could help in any way.

"Yesss..." Eldirn hissed in answer to Rainiel's query; the wounded elleth was slowly sinking groundward. She gestured at the arrow. "For the love of Varda, would SOMEone please get this pigsticker out of my nether regions, before I pass out?"

She ground her teeth together in an effort to ignore the pain. When her hand contacted the bolt, she hissed again and jerked her hand away, then stared at the blood on it. "I want the raug tithen who did this!" She made a tearing gesture with her hands. "AND IF SOMEONE DOESN'T HELP ME, I'M GOING TO INCLUDE THE LOT OF YOU WITH IT!"

Maybe I SHOULD wake Elrond, she thought, fighting back a moan of pain. At this rate, I'll bleed to death before the snickers ever stop...

Glorfindel smiled at the good natured jibing of Elrond's astronomer, assured that her fiesty disposition was not diminished by her injury he moved to the warg once more as Rainiel went to get her weapons. The lead under the beast seems to be chewed on the end, hmm must be an escaped animal. Glorfindel thought as he followed the tracks into the woods. Behind the large oak there was much black blood and there lay Eldirn's ornate longknife, gleaming dully under a layer of blood and grass.

Grabbing the knife by the leather and wire-wrapped handle he carefully wiped it off on the long grass and stood still listening to the sounds within the woods. The tracks led further under the trees and up an incline. He followed them quietly, making no sound, silently taking in every unusual sight, smell or sound. I smell death here, there is no mistaking it. On the hillside to his left he spied some color that did not blend with the rest and moved toward it.

"Iluvatar mell! ERIDAN!" The guard lay on his stomach, old blood pooled beneath his long dark hair. Two arrows protruded from his back which Glorfindel snapped off angrily before turning him to look upon his face. He knew Eridan's fëa had departed and no more would he converse or joke with the kind warrior he had known for several thousand years. "Amin hiraetha nín muindor." The gray eyes of the guard looked at the treetops silently as Glorfindel said some reverent words in Quenya before gathering Eridan's hröa in his arms. Gently lifting him, he stood listening for a few minutes before returning to the others with the corpse.

Celebrian was first trying not to laugh, at the sight of Eldirn. She shook her head seriously, knowing that it must hurt badly.

She placed her hand on Eldrin's shoulder, and nodded to her with compassion. As her eyes tracked Ara, she looked into her daughter's eyes, asking for help.
As Celebrian and Ara helped Eldirn to a more "private" place, Celebrian took a deep breath.

"Eldirn, if you did not dislike me already, you will highly dislike me now," Celebrian said softly. She looked at the lady in pain, and looked at Ara. "Sell-nín", she began. "Try to keep Eldirn as calm at possble."
I wonder if she can stay calm..., she thought silently.

"Now Eldirn, take a deep breath, and hold it until I am done...." She looked at the Chief Astronomer and saw her nod as a reply. As Eldirn took a deep breath, Celebrian pulled out the arrow quickly, while Eldirn didn't expect it. She looked smiling, with the arrow still in her hand, at Eldirn and Ara.
"There, and how does that feel?" she asked a bit worried.

Oh, Celebrian, muin nin, I do not dislike y-- Eldirn began, holding her breath as instructed. Then suddenly Celebrian yanked the crossbow bolt loose.

"AAAIIIIGGGHHHHHH!" the Chief Astronomer shrieked, and the sound echoed through the dell. "Ai, Eru," she gasped. "Ooo." She started to rub the wound instinctively, then caught herself. "No, not a plan," she murmured. "I suppose THAT woke up Elrond," she sighed. "And just when we had enough healers on hand for him to get some sleep, too." She glanced apologetically at Celebrian. "Um, it...it feels better, now that the arrow's out. Hannon le."

Eldirn tried to look over her shoulder, to see the severity of the wound, but could not. "I suppose that's going to leave a scar?" she asked the healers quietly. "Oh...could we maybe not...TELL...Elrond...about this?"

AAAIIIIGGGHHHHHH!

The sound cut Elrond's sleep like a knife through butter causing him to leap upward clutching his head. "What the..." he mumbled as he looked around the room in a haze of semi-wakefulness. Sitting on the side of the bed he recognized that was the voice of Eldirn in his head and send out a message to her.

ELDIRN! ARE YOU ALRIGHT? WHAT HAS HAPPENED?

--------------------
The face of Elrond was ageless, in it was written the memory of things both glad and sorrowful. His hair was dark as the shadows of twilight, and upon it was set a circlet of silver; his eyes were grey and in them was the light of stars. He was Lord of Rivendell, mighty among Elves & Men.
