Ummm, I don't see any replies here, but anyway...

I was just looking at the "Characters available" topic and saw that you're missing Elenwë in the Helcaraxë adventure and I'm kinda interested grin.gif So if the role is still open...

Edit:
Sorry, didn't saw that the role is taken... 787.gif

Hello again Dirael,

You'll find we're wrapping up a long storyline, Tears Unnumbered. I'm hoping to get a few more started. Either Scenes or another Storyline.

Very open to ideas. We'll do some planning and then based on interest start one or two shortly, with a new cast of characters.

Edheldae, actually, Tears Unnumbered isn't wrapping up. It will continue after the current battle is over to Maglor's kingship and beyond. It is my hope that it will eventually merge with Exiles of Aman so that we can write the reuniting of the Noldor.

Dirael, the Land of Ice and Snow roleplay has been inactive for a long time, unfortunately. It has a sequel, Exiles of Aman, which is also inactive, but was never officially closed. Since I'm in college, I'm not sure that I will have time to start another roleplay on here whe still writing in Tears Unnumbered, but if you have enough people, you might want to start a scene roleplay.

I hope that both of you will write in Tears Unnumbered. Many characters are possible. There are soldiers, healers, members of the supply train, mothers and children, and relatives of Maedhros' doomed guard. When he is king, Maglor will need advisors and councillors. Also, the story has only one female character and could definitely use more!

Edit: I love it when my phone makes me squash words together... tongue.gif

I have a rendezvous with Death
At some disputed barricade,
When Spring comes back with rustling shade
And apple-blossoms fill the air—
I have a rendezvous with Death
When Spring brings back blue days and fair.

I must reread the entire Silmarillion as soon as possible. It's a shame how much I forgot dry.gif

Just curious, do you use any other source beside the Silmarillion? History of Middle Earth volumes or something? Other writer's guides?

If you want to hear the Silmarillion rather than read it, just start up the YouTube video at the bottom of the page.

Many of us use other sources. I have most of the books written by Tolkien and his son as well as some other references that are very good.

"In mind" is a great way to phrase it. We try to catch details but I'm not overly concerned with extreme detail. I try to keep stories and events in keeping with the "themes" I see in Tolkien, and still leave room for improvisation. As a general personal guideline, I try not to introduce anything not found elsewhere in Tolkien's writings, giving precedence the LOTR and Silmarillion

Children of Hurin is another good read that expands on the story of Turin Turambar in the Silmarillion. I think it shows the degree of influence Tolkien received from the western European medieval writings he spent a lot of time researching. Of course I'm biased because I like those writings too.
