![]() Parliament Overthrows Tribal Cession Agreement FERNANDIS - Tribal leaders and citizens are furious after Fernandinan government hands down a decision to precipitates a late reversal for the much anticipated independence of Anahuac. President Curro defended the decision citing a clause in the land agreement allowing for retraction of the contract in it's entirety if voted through parliament by ≥3/4 vote. The Fern government seems to be sending mixed messages by attempting to quell the Anahuac chieftains, assuring that their province will remain a largely self governing entity, while at the same time stationing precautionary troops within Anahuac's borders. Rationale behind the unexpected event points to recent international interest in natural resources located within Anahuac. This has led the President to conclude that the region is vital to the future of the Fern economy. There is no shortage of evidence that the Fern government has already entered into at least one large contract which promises vast land rights within Anahuac to an international corporation. 1, January, 2118 was to mark Anahuac's independence. Leaders of the pending territory are expected to appeal to neighboring nations for support. |
