Any ideas and other small tidbits you guys might have should go here if it's okay. smile.gif

Preferences:
*I'd like if they wouldn't add pointless features that weren't in the books at first, but I trust Animal Logic won't do that.
* Some references to the other comics and Jeff Smith's other work would be pretty cool too!
* Please for the love of everything that's awesome, keep the dark atmosphere where it's apt!
* No toilet humor. Please.
* Songs would be cool (and I think I am the only one who thinks that hehe, blame Rio and the Donkey Kong TV show), but don't overdo it. No pop songs like Nickelodeon would've done!

Speculation: er... I don't have anything... do you?

I agree with most of what you said except I would rather have this be a song-less animated movie(unless you were referring to the soundtrack, which in that case is an entirely different story). Anyway,I wanted this movie to have been a traditionally animated film but seeing as its already been announced its going to be in CG hopefully it'll be better computer animation than the Bone video game. Also,I hope they don't try to get too detailed with the humans.Otherwise the only Valley we're going to be seeing is the Uncanny Valley.

I also hope they stick as close to the script as possibly. They don't throw anything that shouldn't be there or try to modernize anything in order to stay hip with the kids. I also hope they keep the dark atmosphere,as you were saying and that they don't try to lighten it for younger audiences.Another thing that worries me is the voice talent.Any news on the voice cast for this movie?I hope they get veteran voice actors who know what they're doing and don't just throw anyone into the cast to do the voices.

All in all,if Animal Logic puts as much effort directing Bone as Jeff Smith did writing it,then things should turn out okay.

I really hope the voices will be chosen with care. The game's voices, especially Fone's, really bothered me. As for the animation, of course it will look much better than the game, because hey, it's Animal Logic. Have you seen Legend of the Guardians?

As for songs, perhaps only in the opening and/or credits, and not just anything randomly chosen, pick something that makes sense concerning the film. But orchestral scores > pop songs, and I'm sure Jeff and the Animal Logic directors think so too, so I hope they know what they're doing.

Hans Zimmer for music. If he can do awesome stuff like what was in Kung Fu Panda and the like, he'd better make this awesome.

I would LOVE for the movie to be 2D animated, but it's not going that direction. @$#%!!!

And choosing actors wisely. No talentless media-spoiled stars, plz. Unless they're actually good. Like Daniel Radcliffe, although I don't see a role that could work for him =P

Hopefully, they'll manage to do a good job with everything. The motion-capture thing is sort of weird, but that might mean that Fone Bone and his cousins' movements might be more realistic and not all stiff like in the PC games. Plus, a recent interview from Jeff Smith gives me more hope:

QUOTE
“I’m a comic book guy, I’m not a movie guy,” he explained, adding that he’s “actually excited about the movie for the first time in a long time” after having seen a four-minute “Bone” short recently put together by Warner Bros.

“Fone Bone was falling in the water and going through cliffs and canyons. The dragon moved in from off camera in the shadows with smoke around him, all in 3-D. It was pretty mind-blowing,” said Smith, who estimates that the earliest a “Bone” film would be done is two years from now.

I swear, once the first teaser for the movie is released, I will scream for joy.

Anyone up to spectulating on how the the first movie will be? Since there will end up doing a trilogy (hopefully), that'll mean they'll adapt the first three volumes in this one.

Of course, that may mean they'll have to, depending on the time length, cut out some stuff. They might do what the first PC game did in skipping the whole winter thing in order to save time.

Considering how short the first three books are, I think they can manage it smile.gif .

As long as they don't butcher the story like they did with the 2007 Beowulf (uuugh *shudder*) or mess with plot points like in the Gaurdians of Ga'Hoole film (Kludd and Metal Beak are not one in the same!? WTF!?). That's one of the reasons why I didn't watch Legends of the Guardians.

Argh, please don't remind me of the Legends of the Guardians. I never really read the books, but I knew enough to know they screwed almost the entire story. slapface.gif

But I'm trusting Jeff Smith on this one. If he thinks it's good so far, then I think it's enough for me to have faith in it.

The actors have to be good also. Am I the only one who thinks that the voices for the Stupid, Stupid Rat Creatures in the PC games matches them almost perfectly? Maybe they can be a little more raspy, but I thought it suited their personalities well.

They could do with Russian accents...or at least very-very far north accent. Like some Scandinavian accent.

And maybe the Bones could work with some sort of Northern US accent...as homage to were the story originated. Chicago, maybe...especially for Phoney

Russian accents would probably be a good idea. Matthew Wood (voice actor for General Grievous in the movies and show) could make a great choice for Kingdok... well, minus the mechanical breathing.

I've thought that Bill Nighey, who did Davy Jones in two of the Pirates of the Caribbean films, would be a pretty awesome choice for Kingdok.

Got a new piece of news for the Bone movie! According to the link below, P.J. Hogan will be directing the film.

http://www.digitalspy.com/movies/news/a360...miths-bone.html

Besides that site, I looked over some of the other work he has done, which includes the Peter Pan adapation back in 2003 and the remake for the Dark Shadows in 2004.

Honestly, I'm iffy about the director choice, but it's too early to tell. With any indication, he may end up doing great job or not.
