The student population of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry had absolutely nothing to worry about. Or so they thought… There was a war going on all around them, but they were at school, so they were safe. Under the watchful eye of Albus Dumbledore, no one felt a need to worry… Besides, they were just kids, what should they care? War was for the adults.
Until one day, something changed. Something hit a little closer to home.
Her name was Charlotte Geneva Callaghan. She was a Gryffindor. She was to be a fifth year beginning in 1975. She’d just received a letter informing her that she was to be a school prefect. She was one of the best chasers in the school. She had a truly beautiful soul, and had friends throughout the entire school—even in Slytherin.
You can imagine what a shock it was when the Hogwarts teens woke up in the middle of August 1975, to see her family’s name splashed across the front page of the Daily Prophet.
She was dead. Her entire family was dead. The Death Eaters wanted her father’s help. He refused. They all died.
All of a sudden, they’ve realized there is a war going on around them. People have started to pay more attention in classes—they want to know how to better fight. They had become far more edgy, especially around some of the Slytherins.
