**First off, Welcome to the forum! We are glad to have you. Now of course, as I am sure you have read through the rules, you understand that this forum is a little different. We are starting it at the -founders- of the school. Which means that the school is just starting out -and- isn't as big. Of course, be patient, for it will grow with more students, just like the actual Hogwarts did.
Now for a little instruction...Obviously you want to be sorted into a house and get RPing right?
Well all you have to do is copy and paste the post below into a new thread that has your characters name as a title then you must respond to it with a detailed roleplay response. This means you must stick to the rules we have given for how roleplaying should be done and also use it as your chance to show us how well you can roleplay.
Respond to descriptions and surroundings given and answer the questions asked. Once your reply is done a founder will reply with the result and sort you into a house. This is your chance to shine so take your time and make it the best post you can!
You are on this board to RP, so please, try to be thorough with questions answered. And don't be afraid to ask questions by PM, IM, E-mail, or in the FAQ areas. We are here to help you out. Enjoy!

The chill in the air hangs with what feels like a bad omen. These are bad times for all witches and wizards and they are all being hunted down and killed for what they are and it seems as if nobody is safe. Through the main entrance way there is a set of oak doors that lead to a main hall. Once entered there are sets of tables with benches for all the youngsters to sit on and await their fate. Warm candlelight lights up the hall and gives it a welcoming glow, this coupled with the friendly faces of the four adults sitting upon a top table seems to ease the fearful times and offers a sense of hope.
On the furthest left seat is an Elder man with a harsh long face and pointed nose, his expression seeming a little unkind and impatient. In his eyes though a noble power can be seen and you can tell from his stature that he is very knowledgable. To his right sits a young woman with a fresh youthful face. She is pretty and has a kindness that could sooth even the most terrified of students. To her right sits a woman with dark hair who is a little older than the fair haired witch. She has a look of firmness and vast intelligence to her, though she does not seem unkind. She sits with a straight back and is tight lipped with a slight smile on her face. To the furthest right sits a strong built man with greying hair and warm eyes. He has an air of obvious power to him and is looking keenly upon the new students. He has the look of a father figure and he sits in a casual pose awaiting silence
Once all of the students arrive it is the man on the right who raises his hand first. He stands and addresses the students, "Greetings to you all and welcome to Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. These are dark times and here at Hogwarts myself and my fellow founders would like to offer a glimmer of hope to you all. One at a time we will call your name and we would like you to come forward and aswer our questions. My name is Godric Gryffindor and I will be the head of the house named after me I look for certain qualities in my students as do the others. The question I would liked answered when you approach is this: What magic have you been exposed to so far and which areas of magic have you attempted for yourselves."
The man named Godric then motioned with his hand for the dark haired woman to stand and with a nod he sat down again. "Greetings students, my name is Rowena Ravenclaw head of the house Ravenclaw. Here at Hogwarts you will be allowed to learn the skills of your forefathers and hopefully will become eperienced wizards in the process. We will teach you all that is possible to teach and you should all do well to take what is given with grateful hands. When you come for your sorting could you please state to me which magical skill you feel is your best and that which is your worst. A display of such magic will be required with various objects sitting in front of me here for you to use. Whether it be transfigutration, charms or herbology either a practical demonstration or an example of a piece of knowledge you have in the field"
The woman then motioned for her younger founder to take the floor. The fair witch then stood with a warm smile on her face, "It is wonderful to see you all here and that you have arrived safely. My name is Helga Hufflepuff and I am the head of the house Hufflepuff. This school is modest just now but we hope that you will all bring a good attitude and fresh talent to your classes and allow it to grow into the greatest thing the wizarding world will have seen. You allhave tremendous gifts and it is up to you to make the most of such things. When being sorted I would like for you all to answer this sinple question: What do you hope to gain from your studies here and also which aspect of a person's personality do you think is most important?"
Turning to the eldest man she sat as he had already started standing. He had a look of seriousness on his face to let the children know the importance of what was to be said. "My name is Salazar Slytherin and I will be the head of the noble house of Slytherin. These are dark times as my friend and co-founder has already stated and we have built this school to create safety to you all. We wish to teach you that which you would otherwise be made to feel ashamed about. It is a proud thing to be a witch or a wizard and you should all know such. In these walls you will learn the skills to become great and powerful wizards. You should not cower in the shadows afraid of being hunted but allowed to educate yourselves to realise your true potential. On this day know that this school is where you are safe and where you can feel as special as you truly are. Once seated on the stool in front of the four of us I wish for you to answer me this question: You have found yourself in grave danger along with 2 others; a friend and a stranger. You only have the capabilities to save one person would that one person be yourself, your friend or the stranger and please state your reasons. Do not assume that an answer is obvious as your reasoning could change it."
The man sat and nodded to the others. One by one each of the founders call out names to come forth and sit at the front of the hall on a small stool in front of the founders table. Each student giving their answers to the questions and each being told which house to make their way to. After a while the next founder looks down at their list and calls out a name.....
