The threat of the summer rains have turned into the promise in the fall. It rains almost all the time nowadays, and slowly the rain turns from warm to cold to freezing, and at the last snow begins to sink lower from the heights of the mountains into the valleys.

Hold Surrounds
Sinthera Hold rests against the wall of a cliff and overlooks the only flat land in the mountains around the Weyr. On this land, a few herdbeast corrals and very small farm plots have been set up. Atop the cliffs are the drum heights and a couch for a watchdragon that has long gone unused. The Hold is concealed almost entirely within the walls of the cliff, but can be entered by several large metal doors constructed to be perfectly balanced.

Entrance Hall
When first entering the Hold, you shall come upon a huge vaulted room with at least five levels of balconies above it. Mounted glows keep it warmly lit, and archways on the main level lead off to kitchens, the dining hall, and hallways leading to storage halls and craft workshops. Wooden stairs along the outer wall lead up to the other levels.

Dining Hall
This long room is full of tables and lined with fireplaces that keep stew and klah and people warm all day. The end of the hall has a raised platform where the High Table is. This table is reserved for notable people that come to eat at the Hold. Doors lead off to various smaller kitchens that are kept busy all day preparing food.

There are a few small kitchens all next to the Dining Hall, to break the work up into manageable sections and to make it smarter for preparing small meals with just one kitchen. There is always some activity going on in one of these kitchens to keep the Hold fed.

Hold Quarters
The upper levels of the Hold are dedicated to housing the people that live there. The rooms range in size from one or two person apartments to rooms large enough for families, with the largest of these rooms belonging the Lord Holder and his family. All rooms have either a door into the Entrance Hall, or possess a window to the outside. On the cliff the grid of closed windows can be seen stretching halfway up the wall.

Storage Caverns
There are several storage rooms, the majority of them being dark, cold places filled with the smell of dry food or medical herbs. They are buried deep within the mountain, and the glows leading to them often go out without being replaced.
