Virtual Reality, Could It Be Dangerous?

I was thinking about the future of gaming and whatnot, and I thought of the possibility of it going VR, and what would the dangers of it. I mean, could it eventually become too real? To where you never leave it? I mean, yeah, people are bad about not leaving their rooms now, but what if with VR, they become too attached, adn think it's complete reality? Like a Matrix type thing. What do you guys think?

one time i was playing the eye thing on PS2 my fag friend punches me in my face it felt like a skeeter but its primaraly the same thing

lol Not quite what I meant man, I mean like what if someone becomes so into it they don't eat? Or it becomes so real to them that they get bruises when they get hit in the game, because like they said in the Matrix, your mind makes it real.

No, I wouldn't think that, I mean, just get bruises, I wouldn't imagine that they would be allowed to release something that physically injured a player though.

Yeah yeah, but my point still remains, it could possibly be too dangerous for the human mind for it to be properly successful.

There would be a lot of media hype about this sort of thing before it even got out to the public. I don't think that this country would even put out such a thing; a lot of the US is too conservative for that.

But people couldn't get too sucked into it that they forget to eat... somehow the basic functions of a human would have to kick in. Unless, I guess, somehow if you ate something in the game, the computer would stimulate the brain in a way to make the hunger pains go away. But then again, what kind of moronic game-company would do that to a person?

I don't think that it would be any more dangerous than MMORPG's that give a lot of extreme gamers another reason to stay locked in their room and not see the sunlight for another 5 months. :P

But this reminds me of something I saw on the news: sonic emissions or what-not in movie theatres to stimulate the brain so people like smell what's going on in the movie and stuff. That's almost sick... haha

i can see what you mean raziel, and yea i think virtual reality could be bad for the mind.....i mean when people work too hard they become ill.....when people relax too much they can become ill....whats to stop too much gaming making you ill too either mentally or physically...

well supposly back in the day, that virtual boy system that came out, cause a lot of problem to people something stupid about "people would get so into it that get stuck to the thing etc etc, and messes with their head" im not quite sure what the newspaper said backkk then but ya maybe it could be dangerous messing up ure mind etc.... but then again i would mind playing some virtual reality socom :-D

This Would All Depend On If The Game Was Someone Linked To The Brain. Otherwise, There's No Harm. In The Matrix, It Was The MIND. If The Game Is Not Linked To The Brain Or Brain Waves. Nothing Could Possbily Happen.


As For The " Not Eating " Thing. I Have Done it. I've Been So Into Something That I Didn't Eat. But At Some Point You'd Have To Eat Or Die. But What Does That Have To Do With VR itself? The " Not Eating " Is More Or Less The Person.
