I dunno about you guys, but I think the forum is kind of a mess. I'm just going to put forth a few ideas, and if Bod ever wants to get around to doing them, then so much the better.

THE BLOODCIDER REVISION PLAN

1. Make It So Anyone Can Read The Board Again
I don't think the FBI's stalker mom division is watching Chaos anymore, and the having-to-register-to-see-the-forum thing is a real put off for most people. Face it, we're not a very popular forum, we don't need these kinds of security measures. Anyone who's going to start something can just register and start something. At the very least, make it so guests can read the "General" and "The Diary" areas, but not be able to post.

2. Delete The Unused Sections
There's too many unused sections hanging around.
--The War section, for one, hasn't been used in half a year, and I doubt it will be used again unless someone wants to go stir up shit to spite this post.
--The member interviews area is pretty pointless, given that a) the only interview in there worth a damn is the one about the 2nd RPG, b) that interview was well over a year ago, c) I don't plan on interviewing anyone else anytime soon, and d) it still refers to me as DUIguy (I haven't gone by that name since like, early 2005).
--The "Dear Guest" area, obviously, if you go by the first suggestion, becomes invalid.
--The two comic sections at the top. Now, I don't have anything against Dave or his comic (Although mine is a load of shit), but it hasn't been updated in over a year now. You could just move the threads to the artwork section. As for my comic, well, I don't think anyone would miss it if it were gone.
--Lastly, and this one is a maybe, the Question and Answers section. I dunno if you (Bod) are still planning on jumping onto the Derek account if anyone ever asks a question again, but at this rate it seems like they won't. Besides Tragic a few months ago, the section has gone about a year without being used. Although it still has potential to be useful in the future.

3. Reorganize
Put the Series 2 section directly underneath the Progress one (assuming you didn't delete the Q&A section, otherwise this is already done). Put the Artwork section inbetween General and RPG's, the Artwork section is more used than Suggestions and Polls, and this would make it more prominent. That's about it for this.

4. Put In A Birthday Section.
Every year we get like 50 new birthday threads. Maybe add a section for them to go in underneath the polls section. That way, the General section wouldn't be cluttered with "HAPPY BIRTHDAY! HAPPY GOOBERBLAT! HAPPY YOU! HAPPY HAPPY! HOLY SHIT!" and people would have a nice special place to go to on their special day to talk about how wasted they got.

That's about it. It'd make the forum look nice and spiffy, be much more optimized, and perhaps even attract new people to stay.

I agree with revealing the forum to all, it really annoys me (and motivates me not to sign up) on other forums when you have to register to view it.

I agree with revising everything, but seriously, this isn't going to make people more active.

Of course not. But it would make the place less of an eyesore.

Insert obligatory "We should get rid of X, their face is an eyesore" comment.

I actually met the mom a few weeks ago (read: Ambushed) so she's still around, she just somehow likes me somewhat all of the sudden.

As far as revisions are concerned, does it really matter? People have to have a reason to come to the boards before they come long enough to be annoyed by registration features. Let's face it, the community that cares about the Diary books is us, and with nothing really going on Mod Side, we don't really have any draw otherwise. This is basically a private social forum that's been kinda in its waning years as its members have aged. If we really want more people to post, we can do a few things collectively.

A.) If you see something on the net that you find interesting or funny, post it. Something we basically already do but could always serve to do more.
B.) Start RPG's even if they're unplanned and freeform.
C.) We could start a few new sections such as a debates/news section, offering opinions on controversial issues as a draw to post since by its very nature you have to piss off someone.
D.) Make a point of posting, even if it's not long posts wherever you even have a comment to yourself. I feel more compelled to post when I see others doing the same thing.
E.) Track down old members, members from these boards, members from other boards these boards were associated with, etc and say "Hey, what's up!"

I agree, I'm always checking on this board but no one is ever talking so I just don't post. I agree that with some cleaning up, and the opening of the registration this board could become more active. But it's up to us to draw more people back in and to get everyone active maybe we should all go to some of the other boards and try to advertise for Bodster to get more people interested in The Diary.

lol year old thread.

I don't think I could ever picture this forum completely dead. Like the ScruffingTeck forum, there'll always be one or two assholes who come back and keep posting until it's semi-active again. But, I don't know, Bod hasn't been here in almost two months, Series 2 Diary 2 hasn't been finished/posted, the mod's canceled, there's a lack of any input on the forum besides in the chat thread... things are looking grim.

I try and keep my two stories going, but no one really seems that interested.

Was thinking about starting a parody of RPG of children playing since that's what freeforms amount to anyway.

"I got you!"
"No you didn't!"
"Did so!"
"Nuh uh! I have special armor on that makes me immune to bullets!"
"Well I have special bullets that go through special armor!"

And so the battle ended in stalemate with both combatants fearing that they would be grounded for rough-housing.

I really liked Onroyo....Oyoror..... Oreo.... but uh, I figured you didn't need me jumping in after every update yelling at you to keep posting.

And yes, that is basically what happens to all freeforms, which is why we can't have nice things.

Yeah, I'm still writing both of them.

Onryu, I'm a little further in (about 2 more entries I'm still revising) but it's so hard to write it because the only time I have to write it is at night, and frankly the story scares me in the dark. The Akira Yamaoka music I play in the background probably doesn't help much either.

I'll probably try and get another entry or two finished off tonight. The next couple of days are kinda important so I have to make sure they're perfect. Though the story isn't as difficult to write since I don't have to review the Diary to make sure the source material matches up with the real life interpretation.

Also, Comments do help.
