The folks at the LA Times' Hero Complex has landed an exclusive on whose the latest to join Zack Snyder's much-anticipated Superman: Man Of Steel. Portraying none other than the lovely Lois Lane, The Fighter Academy-award nominated actress Amy Adams is set. Check out what Snyder had to say.

“There was a big, giant search for Lois,” Snyder said. “For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.”

“It goes back to what I’ve said about Superman and making him really understandable for today. What’s important to us is making him relebant and real and making him empathetic to today’s audience so that we understand the decisions he makes. That applies to Lois as well. She has to be in the same universe as him [in tone and substance].”

While keeping quite on the presence of Lois Lane, Snyder considered her “a linchpin” to the reboot and that it's prominent that she appear with contemporary appeal and spirit.

Anyhow, with Amy Adams joining Henry Cavill, Diane Lane and Kevin Costner, Superman: Man Of Steel is slated for release Mid-December, next year!

"Craving" Guest Star Is The Next Lois Lane

What a difference a decade makes.

Ten years ago, Amy Adams guest starred in what was then voted the Worst Episode of Smallville Season 1 in the first-ever KryptonSite Awards, as she played Jodi Melville in "Craving." Now, Adams has created a fantastic film career where she is one of the most sought-after actresses in Hollywood, already having several Oscar nominations.

Adams has now been cast in the role of Lois Lane for Zack Snyder's new Superman film, tentatively titled The Man Of Steel, due in theaters December 2012.

“There was a big, giant search for Lois,” director Zack Snyder told the L.A. Times' Hero Complex, which broke the news. “For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.”

Look for KryptonSite's Man of Steel sub-section to be live soon.

Guaranteed he picked her just because of her nomination, not sure if she won for her role in the Fighter.... I agree true fans & the smart ones will be upset as you are with the big ass age gap.

I know whomever he had in mind before her are sitting there pissed too being shunned just because she on a kinda hot streak movie wise

the top fan choices were Olivia Wilde and Rachael McAdams, my pick was Olivia Wilde cause she fits the character and age and (here's the big ones) body type and skin color.

Amy Adams had a kid and was always on the heavier side, there are times where she looks great, like in the fighter, a bit "over weight" but still hot, Lois Lane is NOT suppose to be like that, look at every other Lois and tell me she was "a big woman", muscular maybe, but small and tiny with a big attitude, thats just some of the ways Lois is described, Amy's frame is "BIG" this can be seen in the Fighter, she's hot but just does not have that Lois Lane look

now when she did Cruel Intentions 2.............thats a different story, here she looks in better shape and if she still looked like that it would help but not by much.

now about the skin color thing, Amy is............really really white...........like Shemus white.........Lois is white but has more of a whiteish tanish color.......Amy has tried to tan.........like Shemus she just turns red and then back to pasty white..........yea.........not helping either.

Amy is a good actress, I do like her and find her very attractive, but she is "WRONG" for Lois Lane, my thought to Zack Snyder.........you want Amy in the movie.........get her to look like she did in Cruel Intentions 2 and give her the character with the LL initials.................LANA LANG!!! cause that is who Amy Adams fits as playing NOT as Lois Lane.

March 28, 2011: Noel Neill Approves of Amy Adams

Noel Neill, the original Lois Lane, approves of Amy Adams, the latest Lois Lane.

user posted image

Noel Neill, who portrayed the character alongside Kirk Alyn in the original movie serials of 1948 and 1950, and who then went on to play the character for the majority of the 1950s "Adventures of Superman" TV series, contacted the Superman Homepage to let us know her thoughts on Amy Adams.

"Amy Adams as Lois Lane is a wonderful choice. She'll bring a lot to the role. She is a great actress with great acting depth. I have loved her work, so I have no doubt she will be an incredible Lois Lane. Welcome to the family, Amy!"

With a body of Superman related work spanning sixty years, including an appearance in the 1980s "Superboy" TV series, Noel Neill most recently appeared in the movie "Superman Returns", playing the role of Gertrude Vanderworth.

Known as the First Lady of Metropolis, with a bronze statue erected in her honor at the 2010 Superman Celebration in Metropolis, Illinois, the up-coming 2011 Superman Celebration in June will be the first time in 10 years that Noel will miss the annual event.
