Dark match:

Matt Hardy defeated Chuck Palumbo. Yes, this match seriously happened. Palumbo came out wearing a top hat. I actually thought for quite a while that Palumbo could win, and I wouldn't have been surprised whatsoever. Matt Hardy, wrestling dark matches! On the plus side, it probably shows faith that he can get the crowd fired up before they started the ECW taping.

Not much to note that wasn't shown on TV during the ECW taping, except that Bobby Lashley is much, much worse in person, without the aid of quick camera cuts to help smooth out his matches. Also, Matt Striker had a great bit to get heat before his match. He started coming out, already to fairly decent heat, but then complained to the fans that the reaction that Elijah Burke and him were getting wasn't the appropriate reaction. Instead, he insisted on silent awe, and went back so they could do it again. His music hit again, and the fans did not give him silent awe. I believe he went back and did it a third time before giving up on the crowd and walking to the ring.

After the ECW taping, they came and changed the ropes and set for Smackdown.

Smackdown tapings:

(1) The Boogeyman defeated Finlay. The ref was distracted and Little Bastard ran in. He used the shillelagh, but Boogeyman no sold it. Little Bastard was wondering what to do next when Mini-Boogeyman invaded. Well, I don't know what they're calling him, but he was a perfect little mini version of the Boogeyman, with the makeup, mannerisms, and everything. He tackled the Little Bastard and went to work! The crowd loved Mini-Boogeyman. Boogeyman took advantage of Little Bastard being taken out and defeated Finlay.

(2) Deuce (with Domino & Cherry) defeated Brian Kendrick (with Paul London, without Ashley). No Ashley, because her talking about getting naked later in the show was far more important than helping the team that she manages. Kendrick was announced as coming from Olympia, Washington, and got the requisite hometown pop. Deuce and Domino's entrance is great live, and it really feels like a complete act. It also goes a long way toward covering up their shortcomings in the ring. Kendrick went up to the top rope to finish things off, but Domino shoved him off and Deuce hit his kick to the face finisher for the win.

- John Cena came up to Shawn Michaels in the locker room. Michaels told Cena that, as he proved at Raw in their main event match, until WrestleMania, he has Cena's back. There was some tension teased, but it wasn't really overt.

- Kennedy and MVP were shown walking to the ring through the hallways backstage.

(3) John Cena & Shawn Michaels defeated Mr. Kennedy & MVP. Good match, though I was disappointed that Kennedy didn't get to do his ring announcing. I was also amazed at all the work the production crew has to do to set up MVP's entrance set. There was some teasing of tension between Cena and Michaels, but nothing broke out between them. There was a nice moment where Cena was staying in the ring a bit longer than Michaels, soaking in the cheers, and Michaels looked a little annoyed while waiting for Cena on the entranceway. Cena joined him and they left together.

- Kristal was in Teddy Long's office, telling Long that she didn't know which of her talents she was going to show off at No Way Out in the diva talent show. Jillian Hall came in singing. She said that she wasn't sure what song she wanted to do, and was thinking that maybe she would rap. She started rapping. Teddy talked to her as if she was a small child and encouraged her to go practice some more. After she left, Kristal offered to show more of her talents to Teddy Long. She took off her clothes down to her bra, then we cut to a break.

- When they came back to Teddy Long, Kristal was topless and Teddy was happy. Teddy thanked her and sent her on her way. Bobby Lashley came by and made pleasantries with Teddy (He'd changed into a suit after being in his ring gear earlier in the night on the ECW taping). In walked Kennedy, complaining about what happened in his match against Cena and Michaels. He then looked at Lashley and said that he wanted to challenge Lashley for the ECW World Championship. Teddy Long said that he'd have to talk to ECW officials to see if it could be done. Kennedy left. Lashley got a stern look on his face and told Long to make it happen.

- Ashley came out to unveil her Playboy cover. She talked about her background, going to college for communications, etc. I couldn't hear much of it because the fans to my right were drunk and/or high and shouting "TAKE IT OFF!" in my ear for the whole thing.

(4) Scotty Too Hotty versus WWE Cruisderweight Champion Gregory Helms may have ended in a no contest. It was unclear if this was a DQ or a no contest. Gregory Helms came out with new music that wasn't nearly as good as his old music. It ended when Daivari ran in and attacked Scotty, leading to the bell ringing. Afterwards, Funaki ran out for the save, attacking Daivari. Then Jamie Noble ran down to attack Funaki. Then Shannon Moore ran down and attacked Noble, so I guess he's not on ECW anymore. Gregory Helms then took out Noble. (My apologies if I got mixed up about the order of any of this.) Helms started to leave, but was stopped by Jimmy Wang Yang, who attacked Helms and sent him packing. Yang celebrated, doing his two step and getting the crowd behind him as his music played. I assume this will lead to some sort of cruiserweight battle royal/invitiational/etc. at the pay-per-view.

- They aired a clip with Maryse telling us to stay tuned to Smackdown. We then saw a clip that began in a similar fashion, but then saw that it was Big Dick Johnson naked in the tub, welcoming us back to Smackdown. Yikes.

They showed graphics running down the card for the pay-per-view, though the screen went black for a minute in the middle, so stuff may have been left out. They did show a graphic for Mr. Kennedy versus Lashley for the ECW World Championship at No Way Out.

- Edge & Orton were in the hallway backstage, discussing their eeeevil plan for the main event in front of the camera for all the world to hear. They planned to turn the Undertaker and Batista against one another. Uh, great plan, guys.

(5) The Undertaker & Batista defeated Rated RKO (Edge & Randy Orton). The plan did not work.

Biggest pops:

1) John Cena
2) Matt Hardy (Mixture of having a good connection with the fans and being the first star people knew to come out)
3) Shawn Michaels
4) Rob Van Dam
5) Batista
6) Mini-Boogeyman
7) Little Bastard

Biggest heat:

1) Rated RKO (Edge & Randy Orton)
2) Matt Striker
3) Kevin Thorn (for interrupting the ECW dancing girls)
4) Hardcore Holly

Other notes:

It was really obvious while watching this show why most of these guys are on the Smackdown roster, as there was a lot of stuff that definitely needed some serious editing. I don't know if this is due to them feeling like they were slumming it or something, but even most of the Raw stars who appeared seemed worse than they were at the Raw tapings.

King Booker, Chris Benoit, and Kane weren't on the show, even though Booker and Kane have a match on the pay-per-view on Sunday.

The fans here seemed to be more of the hardcore variety than at Raw. The arena was far from full, and apparently it's only the real hardcores who care to go to Smackdown/ECW tapings anymore.

The ECW heels seemed to get much more heat than the Smackdown or even Raw ones, but I think it had a lot to do with the fans just hating ECW and wrestlers they thought were untalented, not really legitimate heel heat.

QUOTE
I have never sent in a report so here goes. These are results from Smackdown in San Diego to air this Friday Feb. 23.

We got there right before ECW was on the air so I don't remember exactly who was in the dark match, but it was a 6 man tag and Jimmy Wang Yang was on one of the teams, and his team won the match.

Smackdown opened with footage of NWO, and then went immediately to the ring where Batista came out and talked about Undertaker, what happened at NWO and their match at WrestleMania.

6 Man Tag match was next with Matt Hardy & Paul London & Brian Kendrick beating the team of Joey Mercury & Deuce & Domino. Great action from all involved.

Next they show Kristal interviewing Vickie Guerrero. I didn't catch what she said but the segment was short and sweet, ending with Kristal hugging Vickie again. They didn't show Teddy Long at all during the show.

WWE Cruiserweight Champion Chavo Guerrero beat Scotty 2 Hotty. The end came with Chavo rolling up Scotty and hooking the ropes with his legs for the win.

Kristal interviews King Booker about his Money in the Bank qualifying match against Kane.

King Booker beats Kane in the Money in the Bank qualifying match. This match was no DQ and falls count anywhere. Match went kind of long. Great Khali comes out and beats up Kane, with Booker taking advantage of this and pinning Kane outside the ring for the victory.

They had a rematch from NWO with Little B, and Boogeyman vs. Finlay and Little Bastard. This match had some funny moments as Little B. beat up on Finlay for a bit, then Little Bastard got involved. Finlay and Little Bastard won when Finlay pinned Boogeyman.

They showed a HOF package, first announcing Dusty Rhodes, then announcing Curt "Mr. Perfect" Hennig as the latest inductee. Nice response from the crowd.

The biggest pop of the night came when Rey Mysterio came out. It was very loud in the arena when Rey was announced then showed up. He said that his rehab is way ahead of schedule and that he'll be back in the ring sooner than expected. He was then interrupted by Mr. McMahon who came out, talked about his "match" with Trump at Wrestlemania, then asked Rey who he thought would win. Rey says "you're a loser Vince" then Vince brings out Umaga. Umaga goes on to beat up on Rey, ending with a splash from the top rope to Rey's legs. Rey gets carried out on a stretcher.

The bonus match saw Batista beat Mr. Kennedy. A lot of the fans left after Mysterio was taken out of the ring. Batista beats Kennedy with a Batista Bomb. As he is celebrating, more fans are leaving, then we hear the "bong" of the Undertaker, lights go out, then they come back and Taker is behind Batista. Batista turns around and Taker choke slams him, grabs the World title belt and raises it, then leaves. Batista gets up a few minutes later, then goes on to pose & celebrate for a few before leaving and ending the show.

Overall the crowd was pretty into the whole show. But like I said the biggest pop came

Goddamnit.

Ashley's still alive?

*sighs*

Jackyl - February 28, 2007 07:44 AM (GMT)
I hope Benoit's injured, cause that's the only reason I will accept for this sort of blatant screwing out the MitB match. And MH is in (after last years, I'm suprised he go near a ladder, but meh), so I'm content. Should be interesting to see how long him and Jeff team up.

josephcaw - March 4, 2007 12:39 AM (GMT)
after watching smackdown im starting to think that Batista vs. the Undertaker is not going to be a Hell in a Cell match, im starting to think it might just might be a buired alive one since when taker shows up on the screen hes at a grave with a pile of dirt and a shovl  but who knows yet

SMACKDOWN

King Booker d. Matt Hardy
A good, longish back and forth match between these two Money in the Bank competitors. Booker wins with the scissor kick after some interference from that JEZEBEL Sharmell.

Kristal interviews Batista backstage. When did Kristal stop being evil? They show a pretty good video package of each of Undertaker's WM wins. \It's pretty insensitive to show Bossman hanging like that.

John Cena is really popular whenever he's on the tron. Too bad he won't be here!

Maryse is on screen. Elle est chaude! She welcomes us back. We didn't go anywhere, Maryse! Silly Maryse.

MVP interrupts Teddy Long looking at a magazine of those divalicious Divas. He asks for a match with Benoit at WM. Barf.

Kristal catches up with Kane backstage. He's going to wrestle Batista, and he says that. But in a CREEPY way.

Batista d. Kane
This was a clash not only of titans, but two bona fide hosses. I did not expect a catch-as-catch can mat classic from these two. What better way for Batista to prepare for the Undertaker than wrestling someone that has lost to the Undertaker dozens of times? The crowd was behind both guys; apparently they have not taken note of Batista's decreased in-ring performance since returning from injury! Fools. Another long match. Batista wins cleanly with a powerbomb out of the corner.

I notice someone with a Hurricane, Rosey and Super Stacy t-shirt. I didn't know that they were together as an entity long enough to have a t-shirt made.

The Miz is out for the inaugural edition of MizTV. Think Piper's Pit, except, well. You know. His guest is Ashley - but wait! He has another guest! Melina! This has calamity written all over it, my friends. Ashley challenges Melina to a match for the women's championship. Soon they're fighting as if they were cats, with the tough Ashleyness getting the best of Melina.

Mr. Kennedy d. C.M. Punk
Kennedy cleverly subverted his intro, saying he'll soon be known as "Mr. Money in the Bank." That guy. A real silver tongue on him. Punk doesn't get as good of a pop as I, and presumably he, hoped. Mr. Kennedy won cleanly with a hanging neckbreaker. IS PUNK BACK IN THE DOGHOUSE?

Kristal talks to Finlay, who talks about his "Pure hot Irish blood." That's some good blood.

What kind of wuss would go for the "rated" version of The Marine?

The Great Khali attacks Kane backstage while Kristal is trying to ask him who is going to win Batista/UT. Kristal is the star of this show.

Undertaker . Finlay
Dylan, I mean Little Bastard, I mean Hornswoggle (ugh) interfered, allowing Finlay to get the advantage, albeit surely an unfair one. A kid behind me says "C'mon 'Taker, you're a taker. So take it." I really never thought about it that way. The antics involving Hornswoggle (ugh) eventually backfire, leading to a chokeslam and tombstone. Finlay used to do the tombstone. It was his special move in WCW/nWo Revenge!

After the match, Batista comes out to give UT the double thumbs down. Oooh. UT gives him a throat slash AND a "I want the belt around my waist, yep, this waist right here." Batista responds with three snaps in Z formation. Haha just kidding."

.....ok who ever wrote that was a little to in the ending there.....

Billy Krotchsen called in the following spoilers from tonight's Smackdown taping in Trenton, NJ:

Dark Match:

*The Godwins (Cousin Ray aka Deep South Wrestling's Ray Gordy & Henry Godwin) defeated Deuce & Domino.

Smackdown:

*Mike the Miz opened with MizTV. His guest was WWE World champion Batista. The light went off at some point, as if Undertaker was playing mental games with Batista. Batista killed Miz with a BatistaBomb out of frustration.

*Matt Hardy defeated Ken Kennedy.

*They announced Undertaker vs. King Booker for later tonight.

*Ken Kennedy did a backstage promo saying that it didn't matter that he lost because he would win the Money in the Bank match at Wrestlemania 23.

*MVP pinned a masked wrestler. MVP gets on the mic and talks about how great he is. He challenges Chris Benoit to wrestle him at Wrestlemania 23. Teddy Long comes out and tells MVP to meet his opponent. Benoit hits the ring and they brawl.

*In a backstage segment, Finlay runs into King Booker and Sharmell while he's looking for Hornswoggle. They note that they are opponents at Wrestlemania 23. Booker asked for advice on fighting Undertaker tonight and Finlay said to run. Booker and Finlay leave but Sharmell hears a noise and it's Hornswoggle behind a door. He tells her to kiss him, he's Irish (remember this airs on St. Patrick's Day eve) and she runs off screaming. He drinks from a pitcher of beer.

*Undertaker defeated King Booker via DQ after Finlay interfered. Batista did commentary at ringside. Undertaker ends up tossing Finlay outside onto Batista. Taker chokeslams Booker in the ring.

*MNM & WWE Womens champion Melina defeated WWE Tag Team champions Paul London & Brian Kendrick & Ashley. Ashley and Melina got into a catfight after the bout.

*Kane vs. Daivari ended in a no contest when Kane dragged Daivari to the back with his "See No Evil" hook. He told Daivari to send this message to The Great Khali.

That appears to be it for Smackdown as they are changing the ring. Michael Cole and JBL argued as the change was taking place, mentioning JBL was wrestling Shawn Michaels on Monday.

"Dark Match
Miz vs. some guy billed from Jamaica named Koki Kingston or something close to that effect... Miz was booed big time even though he is from the Cleveland area. The Koki guy won it a match pretty much controlled by Miz.

WWE SmackDown Taping

The show opened with Vince coming out and wanted to get some revenge at Bobby Lashley. He announced his opponent with be Mr. Kennedy... and than announces he will also face... RANDY ORTON! Than he announced Lashley will face both of them in a Tables Match.

A promo for Batista and Undertaker versus Finlay and Booker for the main event shows.

Opening Match:

MNM vs. Kendrick & London
The crowd wasn't too much into it other than booing MNM... Kendrick & London win.

Chavo vs. Jimmy Wang Yang in a non-title contest.
Wang Yang wins with his moonsault.

MVP comes out and announces he will face the Heavyweight Champion of Lictenstein (who actually is a local wrestler named Johnny Gargano). MVP obviously wins in a squash.

Kennedy & Orton vs. Lashley in a Tables Match
Bobby controlled most of the match. He put Kennedy through a table in the corner, and tried to put Orton through a table doing a running powerslam but he just fell on top of the table. Lashley picked him up again, but this time the leg gave way and it barely broke. The ref rang the bell. And in an odd situation Lashley brought out another table, and did a better powerslam through the table as they rang the bell again. Looks like they will probably edit out the flub.

Benoit vs. Helms
Benoit wins in basically a squash.

Jillian does the Kiss Cam and proceeds to sing... terribly.

Booker and Finlay attack Batista backstage, but the feed looked like it was lost. So they may reshoot.

Booker and Finlay vs. Batista and Undertaker
Only Taker came out as Batista was already attacked. Back and forth until Finlay decided to use the shileighlei and get them DQed. Booker and Finlay pound on Taker until Batista comes out to help. They decide to give Last Ride and Powerbomb together, but instead Batista throws Finlay at Taker and knocks him down.

Here's your Smackdown report from Grand Rapids, MI.

Dark Match:

Two local guys beat Deuce and Domino when the locals scored a roll up. I know D and D's push stopped, but I didn't expect this.

Smackdown:

The show opened with Edge, who was going to wrestle Matt Hardy. Since they are saving Edge for Sunday due to his injury, he had Great Khali wrestle for him. Khali chokeslammed Matt. Kane's pyro went off and he appeared on the big screen. Khali is his on Sunday.

Finlay beat Mr. Kennedy after LB came in when the ref's back was turned and took out Mr. K. Finlay then scored the pin.

MVP won a squash over a local guy. After the match, he said Chris Benoit is his on Sunday and he will be the new champ.

Jeff Hardy beat Randy Orton in a good, competitive match. The finish came when Orton was in control, Edge came down to ringside and distracted Orton. Jeff rolled him up for the win.

They did a ten diva tag match with the lumberjills joining in. Ashley, Maria, Candice, Torrie and Mickie James beat Melina, Victoria, Jillian, Kristal and Michelle McCool.

CM Punk beat King Booker in a really good match. It was very competitive.

JBL was set to do an interview in the ring when Steve Austin came out. Austin stunned JBL and the crowd went nuts. He drank beer and raised hell and then left.

After that Teddy Long came out with Undertaker and Batista. I think that was what JBL was there for before Austin laid him out. Batista said he lost respect for Taker. Taker just glared at him until they started brawling. Batista laid Taker out and left, but Taker popped back. It will make a cool visual when the show goes off the air.

Rob Conway and René Dupree lost to Jamie Knoble and Kofi Kingston in the dark match via Kingston pinning Conway.

Mr. Kennedy hit the ring to open the show. Quick promo hyping his mania win. Said forget the Austin era.. The Kennedy era just began. Afterwards.. Jeff Hardy hit the ring. Kennedy wins via neck breaker after a really good match. Kennedy argues with ref. Gets another three count.

Place is legit sold out.. Long makes a match for next week.. Kennedy versus Hornswoggle and Finlay (who attacked Kennedy). Backstage Timbaland and Ashley make fun of Jillian.

Chris Benoit loses to The Miz via MVP interference. Matt Hardy over King Booker via small package. SHARMELL turns on King Booker after the match.

KANE defeats Dave Taylor in a squash after a brawl outside the ring. Kane destroyed both Taylor and William Regal. Crowd is on fire.

In a backstage segment, Sharmell slapped Booker T.

Paul London and Brian Kendrick over Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Gregory Helms in a fantastic match. Lots of fast action. Deuce, Domino and Cherry watched from the ring.

Taker comes to the ring like at Mania, with druids. Biggest pop of the night by far. Batista hits the ring in a suit.. They go face to face. Batista congratulates Taker, and leaves. King Booker runs in from around the announce table and attacks Taker from behind. They battle outside the ring. Booker gets a tombstone on the table for his trouble. Table does not break! Taker leaves. Doctor Andrews runs out with paramedics. Stretcher job ensues as they go off the air.

Sorry, they're late but here's the SmackDown! Taping results from Providence, Rhode Island. First off, it was a phenomenal show. For the most part, the crowd was into the show. JBL came out to loud boos and "JBL sucks" chants for commentating.

First Match (Dark Match):
Paul Birchill def. Flash Funk
The fans cheered when Flash Funk came to the ring, and he got them going quite a bit. During the match, Flash Funk missed a Moonsault, which the fans really popped for. Throughout the match there was also "Boring" chants. Paul Birchill was in his "Ripper" gimmick from OVW and really looked dominant. In the end Paul Birchill got the win, but went back to some really horrible music that was like elevator music. It didn't fit him one bit.

First Promo:
Theodore Long came to the ring and thanked us for coming. He then announced that Undertaker and Batista would fight again. The fans cheered thinking it was tonight. He then said in a Last Man Standing Match at Backlash. The fans then booed heavily. Theodore Long then left the ring.

First Match:
Finlay and Hornswoggle vs. Ken Kennedy (No Match)
This match didn't even start. Finlay came out first, and then Kennedy came out. Finlay got some cheers, while Kennedy got a really loud pop when he came out. There were also some "Kennedy!" chants in the audience. When Kennedy went for the microphone from the ceiling, Finlay punched it away. Ken Kennedy then grabbed the microphone and said sorry about what happened, and that it was just that both of them were in the biggest match of their careers at WrestleMania 23. Ken Kennedy then asked for his forgiveness, and for Finlay to just forget about it and call off the match. Finlay grabs the microphone and agrees to accept Kennedy's apology as long as Kennedy never touches Hornswoggle again. Both men shake hands. Theodore Long then comes out and says that if they're not going to fight eachother, then they're going to be teaming up tonight against....The World Heavyweight Champion, Undertaker and Batista! The fans cheered loudly. They showed the picture for this match throughout the night, and everytime the fans went crazy.

Second Promo:
Michelle McCool is backstage talking, and then all of a sudden there is loud banging in the Women's Lockeroom. Michelle McCool runs in and Jillian Hall had beat up Ashley. Jillian storms off as Ashley is laid out. Paul London and Brian Kendrick then ran into to check on Ashley as McCool yells for a doctor. The fans were basically silent when this happened.

Second Match (WWE Tag Team Championship Match):
Paul London and Brian Kendrick def. Deuce and Domino (w/ Cherry) via DQ
Deuce and Domino got hardly any reaction, but when Brian Kendrick and Paul London came out, they got a huge ovation from the crowd. The match was decent, and there were chants of "London" and "Spanky" throughout the match. In the end, Deuce continued to stay in the ring when he was not the legal man and did that kick to the face on I believe London. The referee then disqualified Deuce and Domino. Deuce and Domino were furious as Kendrick and London went backstage. The fans were booing loudly when the match ended in DQ as we all wanted a solid winner.

Third Promo:
Theodore Long is in his office sitting with Kristal. They talk about their plans of going to Italy next week. Deuce and Domino then storm in. Theodore Long tells them to lower their voice. Domino then says that they were DQ'ed for no reason in their big Tag Title match. Theodore Long then says next time they should follow the rules and listen to the official. Deuce looks as if he's about to knock out Teddy Long, but Domino and Cherry hold him back and take him out of the ring.

Third Match (Non-Title Match):
Montel Vontavious Porter def. Chris Benoit
This was a long match, and the fans were very much into it. Chris Benoit got one of the biggest pops of the night, and MVP got booed pretty heavily. MVP's entrance looks pretty awesome live. Nonetheless, this was a good and long match. In the match the fans cheer when MVP is about to do his "Ballin" move, so he doesn't do it. Also in the match, Benoit locks on the Crossface, but MVP's foot grabs the bottom rope. In the end, MVP rolls up Benoit and grabs the ropes for the win. The fans boo MVP as he leaves. Chris Benoit then gets up to his feet and his music plays as he gets cheered going backstage.

Fourth Promo:
A "Mark Henry Returns" video is played showing him beating up on Batista, Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio, and Paul Birchill. It also shows him lifting weights and things like that. It didn't give a date of when he returns. The video got hardly any reaction.

Fifth Promo:
MVP is interviewed backstage bragging of his win over Benoit and how he will get another title shot. In the promo he screams "Ballin!" which gets a pop from the crowd.

Fourth Match:
Kane def. Daivari
Daivari came out to loud boos. However, I think I may have been the only one clapping for him as I am a big fan of him. Kane's pyro then blasts, and Kane goes to the ring to a huge reaction of cheers from the crowd. Kane beats Daivari in a matter of minutes. At the end of the match, William Regal and Dave Taylor attack Kane. Kane begins to take control, so both of them leave the ring. Kane didn't do his normal rise up pyro taunt, which got some boos.

Fifth Match (Main Event):
Undertaker and Batista def. Ken Kennedy and Finlay
This was a great match. Finlay and Kennedy got some decent boos. Undertaker got by far the loudest pop of the night, and Batista got a very big pop as well. There were many blind tags throughout the match, especially by Batista who got booed for tagging himself in when 'Taker was about to do the Tombstone and the Old School. At the end of the match, Undertaker and Finlay fight outside the ring, and Batista nails a Batista Bomb on Kennedy (Who tries to fight out of the Batista Bomb). Batista then gets the pin on Kennedy. The show ends with Batista walking backstage signaling the title will be his at Backlash.

Dark Match (Main Event for World Heavyweight Championship):
Undertaker and Batista fought to a No Match
The fans were really into this match and cheered both men. Undertaker got the biggest pop once again. The match was really good and Undertaker got the Chokeslam on Batista and went for the pin. Batista kicked out. Batista then got a Spinebuster on Undertaker, and 'Taker kicked out. Right then, Deuce and Domino go and attack both men but get thrown out of the ring. Chavo Guerrero and Gregory Helms then attack them getting thrown out of the ring. Finally, Ken Kennedy and Finlay come out and attack them again and begin to beat down. Deuce, Domino, Chavo Guerrero, and Gregory Helms then get back into the ring and help them. Undertaker and Batista then take out all of them and have a staredown. Batista leaves the ring and Undertaker stays in the ring for about ten minutes while the fans cheer loudly.

*JBL and Michael Cole came to the ring. JBL made Cole hold an American flag in the ring and sang "God Bless America" for heel heat.

Ken Kennedy hits the ring, causing a DQ. They beat down Batista as the referees try to stop them. Finlay hits the Celtic Cross, leading to them teasing Batista is injured but he eventually walks out.

*Condemned Trailer.

*Jillian Hall comes to the ring and brags about putting Ashley Massaro out of action. She sings, badly. Michelle McCool stops it, telling Hall, in Italian, that she sucks. They have a catfight and McCool clears the ring.

WWE Tag Team champions The Hardys & WWE United States champion Chris Benoit vs. MVP & Chavo Guerrero & Gregory Helms

Although this will be edited, live they weren't ready for MVP's entrance and had to stall. Chris Benoit used the Sharpshooter on Helms for the win.

WWE Tag Team champions Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. Deuce & Domino

Deuce and Domino capture the belts. During the match, London did a moonsault to the floor but missed. Paramedics checked on him, so they did an injury deal to build to the finish. They hit the Crack 'Em In The Mouth on Kendrick for the win.

*They recap Backlash. No new matches.

- Smackdown opens with Batista, Mr. Kennedy and Finlay brawling backstage. Eventually the brawl takes them onto the stage. The lights go out, then return with Undertaker stood in the middle of the ring. They lights go back off and back on, with Undertaker nowhere to be seen.

- The Undertaker & Batista vs. Mr. Kennedy & Finlay in a no DQ match was announced as the main event.

- The Boogeyman & Kane beat William Regal & Dave Taylor after The Boogeyman hit Taylor with a sit-down version of Khali’s finisher. This one dragged.

- Deuce (w/Domino) beat Brian Kendrick (w/Paul London).

- MVP cut a quick promo, then won a quick squash match against ‘The Scottish Champion’ (Drew Galloway we think). MVP grabs the mic to announce a second opponent, but he’s interrupted by Chris Benoit. We get Benoit vs MVP right away, with Benoit winning via count out after MVP rolls out the ring to avoid the diving headbutt, and walks away. He teases returning to the ring at the count of nine, but walks away again.

- Teddy Long and Kristal were shown backstage talking.

- Jillian Hall vs Michelle McCool was up next. Jillian sang and dedicated her song to Prince William, since he’s single now. Somehow she sounds even worse live than on TV. Jillian then beat McCool, but got beat up after the match.

- The Undertaker & Batista vs. Mr. Kennedy & Finlay is up now. Batista is working with his right thigh taped up. Batista pinned Finlay after a spinebuster for the win. Post-match, Batista cut a promo, saying he’d take his World Title back from Undertaker this Sunday. Undertaker responded by saying he’ll take Batista’s soul.

josephcaw - May 3, 2007 04:59 AM (GMT)
The crowd was pretty good and stayed into the event all night long even though the arena was not even close to being full, a good third of the very top section was tarped off. The first match of the night was of course a dark match, this show had two dark matches, one done by a Smackdown ref and another by a ECW ref, so I guess both shows have their own.

DARK MATCHES

Chuck Palumbo def. Daivari
(Palumbo has muscled up quite a bit since his WWE days, he also has a new gimmick, sorta American Bad Ass Undertaker type, he wears black pants, and rides a motorcycle out and around the ring. He went over with a big boot to the face but got the crowd really going when, after the match, he got on his back and did a burn out that filled the ring with smoke.)

Some Guy def. Funaki
(Sorry I didn't get the name, the guy was huge however, he went over Funaki pretty easily though, the crowd didn't care for this match at all)

Next It was Time For Smackdown!

WWE SMACKDOWN

JBL & Cole both came down to JBL's theme, and after that it was to the opening video package, no opening pyro or nothing (WHICH SUCKED!)

Boogeyman w/ Little Boogeyman def. William Regal w/ Dave Taylor (via / D.Q.)
(Kane came out to make the save after Taylor interrupted the match and chased both him and Regal threw the crowd.)

Teddy Long came on the screen talking about how it was an honor to be in the presence of a "Hall Of Famer" and then they showed Dusty Rhodes. Rhodes was there trying out for the GM's Assistant job but turned it down when he found out it was just as an assistant.

Brian Kendrick w/ Paul London def. Domino w/ Deuce & Cherry
(Kendrick hit the "Slice Bread" off of Deuce who was standing on the apron just after elbowing London in the injured ribs.)

Matt Hardy def. Mr. Kennedy
(Awesome match, this was one of the two best matches of the night, Hardy has really stepped up his game, several near falls by both men, Kennedy also busted his lip or nose, I couldn't tell which after spilling over the top rope. Hardy won with the "Twist Of Fate")

Batista came out and cut a promo, talking about how he thought about walking away from it all after loosing the belt but he just couldn't do it, and that he will get his revenge and his belt.

Teddy Long came back up on the screen, this time however it was with MVP, MVP was complaining about how he deserves another shot at the U.S. title, but instead Long booked for the nights main event, MVP vs. Kane! Winner gets a shot at Benoit for the U.S. Title.

Crew then set up a stage with candles that took about five minutes of work just for Maryse to do five seconds of talking and introduced the next match.

Gregory Helms def. Jimmy Wang Yang
(Decent match)

Undertaker came on the screen and cut a promo on Batista where he announced next week on Smackdown, Undertaker vs. Batista

The lights go out while a video package plays during which time a group of guys come running down to the ring and you can easily tell Hornswoggle is in between them and gets under the ring.

Finlay def. The Miz (via Count Out)
(Hornswoggle pulled Miz under the ring where he stayed for a moment, when he finally came back out he was wearing Hornswoggle's hat but instead of getting back in the ring he just walked out and got counted out.)

The announcer announced that the next match was the main event, and then we would be going live on Sci-Fi for ECW!, Followed by Finlay vs. Batista!

Crew set the candle stage back up for Maryse again, only for her to again do five seconds of talking to announce the main event next.

MVP def. Kane
(Regal & Taylor came out and got involved costing Kane the match, so MVP gets another shot at Benoit now)

Plus Huge Spoiler for next weeks Smackdown regarding the World Title match.

We reported here earlier that The Undertaker has suffered a badly torn biceps that will require surgery. He'll be on the shelf for 6-8 months and his World Heavyweight championship title run will have to be cut short.

There is now an update on this situation, but it contains *SPOILERS* from this week's SmackDown! television tapings. You've been warned.

At the tapings, they taped promo where the Undertaker challenged Batista to a steel cage match for the World Heavyweight title next week on Smackdown.

The plan is for Undertaker to drop the title at Tuesday's tapings and undergo surgery shortly thereafter.

While it seems obvious that Batista will defeat Undertaker and regain the WWE title, there is also the possibility that Undertaker retains the title and then Mr. Kennedy cashes in his Money in the Bank contract early. Kennedy is slated for a World Heavyweight title run this year and this unfortunate situation may have accelerated those plans.

Undertaker went for the Last Ride powerbomb but Barista countered and slammed Taker into the cage, busting him open. Batista nailed a spinebuster for a near fall.
