PDG - Planetary Defensive Grid Mk II

Newest planetary defensive grid built, currently phasing out the older systems.

Orbiting a planet or moon in massive rings (Smaller towards the poles, bigger towards the equator), these weapon emplacements are able to target enemies within a 6 LS radius (of the emplacements)

Consisting of Titan Mk IIs, Heavy Gauss Cannons, Heavy Particle Batteries, Heavy Ion Batteries, Heavy Laser Batteries, Yellow Jacket Launchers, Redeemer Missile Launchers, Vortex Missile Launchers, Raptor/Aurora Defense Hangars.

These system would orbit horizontally on the outside grid and vertically on the inner grid, making the defenses much harder to get through, in between the two grids, a massive mine field lays, just in case the enemy gets through the first grid

The main power source for the grids (exception is the Titans) is from a solar source (local star), while back up power is provided by a mini fusion reactor, planetary shields are located at the poles and envelope a dual layer shield around the planet to not allow full bombardment for a time, of course these themselves are powered by Kitrium Reactors, safely located underground (Except Vartas, where they are up above ground and protected somewhere else).

Mixed in the outer grid you would find the shipyards, allowing USCC and allied ships to make quick repairs while the grids covered fire and other ships covered the repairing ships.

To answer the questions:

1. The rings orbit freely, however, signals from rings travel to other rings to allow the separated rings to target a craft that another ring is targeting.

2. Micro Reactors are only on gun emplacements but are rechargeable by solar power, and stands as a backup just in-case the enemy attacks on the dark side, not the Titans (which have their own reactors), the orbits are powered by Solar energy themselves, keeping the orbits running

3. One ring will be at every ten degrees longitude (north to south orbits) and every 15 degrees latitude. (east to west orbits)

4. The Mines are dumb mines, and there are corridors allowing movement for trade and civilian freighters, not to mention USCC and friendly war ships.

The East to West Orbits are orbit as the planet orbits, while the north to south orbits are created artificially.
