So...I'm back into the swing of PS2 recently.

Got quite a few games for it, both legit and i-legit. However the games I have arent always the mainstream or cult hits.

Anyway, as whatley has done on page 1 for PS1 games, I now declare this thread to be a running tally of good ps2 games worth playing.

I have no time to list the games I have, but don't list a GTA game as I have it or have played it to death, but just wondering what people consider to be some great ps2 games. I presume there will be a few I've not played but ought to.

For instance; Shadow of the Collosus, as that is meant to be a really cool adventure game.

Jak 3...meant to be a great action/ platformer/ vehicle-racer game.

What else owned in the PS2 era? Either mainstream good or cult hit

MGS3, fook yeah. There are an obscene amount of other awesome games, but I cannot be arsed to think of them atm.

As you've already said, Shadow of the Collosus. And ICO. Both brilliant games.
I didn't play that many PS2 games so I can't give you much advice.

C'mon Adadam, if this topic had a face, it would look right at you.

MGS3 I played a bit of, didn't take as quick a shine to it as I did MGS2, maybe I'll give it another shot soon.

Ico's similar to SotC right?

Yes and no. They share alot spiritually. But are very different games. Although both involve saving girls.

MGS3 is far better than MGS2, I was in awe the whole way through. Also Ico is indeed amazing.

A lot of people I know were raving about Okami but with it being out on the Wii, not sure what would be the better version to get. PES games were always classic with PES 5 probably being the best one that I have played (not played the 09 version yet so cant comment on it). The God Of War games were also games that everyone seemed to be shouting about but considering I don't have a PS2 (I played PES on the Xbox) again I comment on it other than that reviewers loved it.

Beyond Good & Evil has passed me by...thought it was a cube game, sure Yenrug or someone mentioned it in a gamecube thread way back when. Whats it about?

Also, how is MGS3 better than 2? 2 was fkn class!

Lookin back now, I'm wandering how I didnt go into MGS3 with more glee. I played 1 till either completion or very near (long game but awesome), I played MGS2 to the end, another long game...but awesome.

MGS3 though...I gave up on at the start. The game has a tendency to shiz me up though, the "!" and the music, it just makes me jump when I get seen (unless I was expecting it), although I can live with that...but the view in MGS3 seemed different in the jungle, I felt like the whole game was now going to be much harder because of that, and I guess at the time I just had other things to play rather than get more into it.

I've never said a bad thing about the game though, not played enough to say anything, just never really thought it could surpass MGS2 really.

PS2 was king for PES, I've been all over that series on the PS2, and to date my favourite ever football/ soccer sim is Winning Eleven 10 on PS2. Konami was at its peak with that imo. Still havent translated that game over (in terms of epic gameplay) to anything next gen.

Twas multiformat. Released about the same time as the first PoP.
Can't really remember a lot about the story. But it was a good game.

The 24 game was quite good - perfect for McQuiring.
