The breeze wafted in the Lehoux family living room as Kayel cranked the windows open wide to let the sea air flow in freely. It was the glorious weekend, and Kayel was l-o-n-e-l-y. He hadn't seen his girlfriend in a week, and he imagined that she was probably off shopping or doing some other girly thing that the Summers often did.

Kayel flopped onto the couch and took another deep sigh. The waves were dull...his skateboard was broken thanks to a little eight-year-old who had asked to borrow it last week...and his spare was somewhere in his car trunk, which he didn't feel like getting. To no one in particular, Kayel raised his voice and said loudly to the empty house, "I'm boooooorrrrrrrreeeeddddddd....."

And it was at that moment that Jacquin was unfortunate enough to step through the front door.

Windswept and slightly bedraggled from his hour and a half roaming the beach for nothing in particular, he tried – unsuccessfully – to tame his messy hair by running a hand through it. He seriously needed to buy himself a new pot of wax, just to keep it from poking his eyes out every time he went near the ocean. But meh. He had better things to be doing.

"Mind speaking a bit louder?" He rolled his eyes upon seeing Kayel all... sprawled-y over the couch. Taking up more space than he needed and just generally being there. As usual. Brilliant. "I think that deaf dog down by the arcade didn't quite hear you."

Trudging indoors a little, Jace slammed the front door closed before giving Kayel a light shove to move him some. As soon as his ass touched the couch, he sighed like it was the best thing in the world and began to pull off his white Converse and shake out the grains of sand.

"Go do assplants on your skateboard. You're good at that."

Kayel grinned as his brother commented on how loud he was speaking. "I'm BOOORRRREEEDD!" he shouted, raising his voice even more. He cast a cheeky grin at his older brother and said with triumph, "Betcha that deaf dog heard me now!" he said with a large grin on his face. Oh, how he loved messing around with his siblings, elder or younger.

As he was shoved, Kayel shoved him back and sat up straight, kicking his feet up onto the coffee table. At Jace's suggestion, he frowned. "Can't do assplants," he said simply. "Some kid broke my good skateboard and the spare's in my car. Too lazy to go fetch it..." he commented.

He wondered what his brother had been doing anyways... "Been chick huntin' out down at the beach then?" he asked as he watched the sand fall to the carpet. "You know mom's gonna throw a fit when she finds that 'I'm back!' gift you just left on the freshly vaccuumed carpet." He stated. Like Kayel cared anyhow, boys would be boys...that's just how the boat floated.

He jumped a little as Kayel decided to take things literally and scream his lungs out. Looking back at his brother, halting the sand-shaking for several seconds just to allow a completely incredulous look cross his face. Only Kayel would try to make a deaf dog understand his status of wellbeing, wouldn't he?

"Sure you can. Just go and fall over. It's what you do on the board anyway." Raising his eyebrows a little, he stuck one shoe back on and took the other off, although simply held it in his hands as he chewed over the prospect of his mom shrieking at the mess. Hmm... okay. Way around that. Sitting back in the couch, he simply emptied out the sand into Kayel's lap, grinning innocently.

"Chick huntin'. Yeah Gunned me down some real beauties, tonight." Obviously mocking the other, he wormed his foot back into the shoe and picked a magazine up off the coffee table. To get at it, though, he had to push his brother's feet out of the way. Not much, but he decided to try and push them right off anyway.

"I wanted to see if I the waves would pick up, actually. I know your teeny little brain can't think about much else, but life doesn't revolve around girls." No. It revolved around surfing and girls.

Kayel groaned as the sand fell into his lap. "Oh you little pothead!" he exclaimed and stood up, throwing the sand onto the floor. At least the carpet was the same color as the sand....and if he got blamed for anything, Kayel'd just turn the blame back on Jacquin. "And I skateboard better than you surf," he remarked with a grin, sticking his tongue out. Only Kayel would be able to get away with something as childish as that.

Kayel scowled as his feet were pushed out of the way, so instead he just put them right back up.

"And nooooo, my teeny little brain can think about way more than that thank you very much," he retorted and flung some sand at his older brother after picking it up from the carpet. "So there. And besides, my brain doesn't revolve around chicks that much now that I have a girlfriend."

With that statement, Kayel crossed his arms defiantely across his chest with a smirk. It felt good to gloat. Dropping the topic, but still basking in his gloating glory, Kayel began to speak again, in a normal voice. "How are the waves anyways?"

"I cruise better than you board." He shot right back, not even taking his eyes off the glossy pages of the magazine as he began to flip through them. Although he did see some movement right in the corner of his vision, and rapidly drew the pages up to protect his head a Kayel threw a handful of sand at him. Jace wasn't quite quick enough, though, and had to double over and try to spit the grains off his tongue.

"You jackass." He managed to choke our the two words, running his top set of teeth over his tongue before finally straightening back up. Sand didn't taste good, surprisingly, and it had left his mouth dry. So, after throwing the magazine at Kayel's head, he picked himself up off the couch and headed into the kitchen.

"Girlfriend? Since when did you find yourself a girl?" Jace managed to continue on the conversation whilst finding himself two cans of soda and then returning back to the couch.

"Flat. Coast guard say they'd pick up later, but he doesn't know his ass from his elbow. Here." Jacquin jammed one of the soda cans into Kayel's chest, cracking open his own.

"You jackass." "Why thank you!" Kayel retorted happily and ducked as the magazine came at his head, though that didn't help, it clipped his ear and some of his hair and he scowled angrily, taking his hand and ruffling it.

"Girlfriend? Since when did you find yourself a girl?" "Since the Summers invaded Sara Point...and one just happened to have the hots for moi," Kayel bragged and poped the top on his can as it was pushed into his chest. Root Beer. Uck. Oh well, he'd deal....

Kayel took a sip of his own and looked at the magazine that Jace had thrown at him. The front cover read in big bold letters 'LEARN H0W T0 GET C0MPLETELY FLAT HAIR, WITH0UT A STRAIGHTENER!' He snorted and threw it back at Jacquin. "What are you doing reading Scarlett's goofy girly magazine?" he asked, a cheeky grin on his face.

As Jace told him about the waves, Kayel frowned. "Damn, I was planning to go surf after lunch this afternoon."

He was sipping at his own soda when Kayel announced that he was actually dating a Summer. At that, Jace looked up slowly, and then began to edge his way further down the couch as though his brother had just become grossly contagious, and one look in his direction would contaminate everybody in the room.

"Well, that proves it. You have absolutely no taste whatsoever." Oh well. This girlfriend was a Summer. That probably meant that, once her holiday ended, she'd never even think about Sara Point again. And then Kayel would be sad for like a week and then, by the time Jacquin had returned for next year's summer break, nobody would even remember.

Woo.

"Because it's a goofy girly magazine. Duh. Mom'd screw at me if I had a goofy guy magazine in the house." Jace took the magazine back and flipped to the centerfold, where several fashion pages lay. Apparently, when they were in magazines for teenage girls, scantily clad women were perfectly fine.

"Aw. Wanted to show off for your sweetheart? Adorable." He snickered a little and set his can down on the table. "Where'd you meet her, anyway? Put an advert out in the local paper? 'Desperately lonely geek looking for something with a pulse.'"

As Jace called Kayel tasteless, he frowned. "Do you want me to throw sand at you again?" he warned, picking up a handful off of carpet and inching closer down the couch. He wouldn't hesitate to throw it, and he happened to like his girlfriend. She was cute, and she was funny...and a blond...and a Kensington. Kayel liked her. Any male in their right state of mind would.

"Where'd you meet her, anyway? Put an advert out in the local paper? 'Desperately lonely geek looking for something with a pulse.'" Kayel raised an eyebrow. "Says the one who does art for his college life." In truth, Kayel didn't mean it. Jace was brilliant at his art and he appreciated that, to a certain extent. It was like Kayel and his writing...cept...not?

He took a sip of his rootbeer with an expression that clearly said he disliked it. "Sides, I haven't seen her for a while, I wanted to teach her how to surf, that's all. Bonding," Kayel explained with a smart grin.
