Tangrowth
![]() Type: Grass Base Stats- 100 HP / 100 Atk / 125 Def / 50 Spd / 110 SAtk / 50 SDef Weaknesses: Fire, Ice, Flying, Poison, Bug. Resistances: Ground, Water, Electric. Immunities: None. Abilities- Chlorophyll: Tangrowth's speed doubles in the sun. Leaf Guard: Blocks status effects in the sun. Bulky Noodles Tangrowth @ Leftovers Ability: Leaf Guard EVs: 252 HP / 228 Def / 28 Spd Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk) - Knock Off - Leech Seed - Power Whip - Sleep Powder An extremely cool physical wall, capable of stopping the likes of Gyarados, Tyranitar, and Rhyperior dead in their tracks. Knock Off is a true pain to any Pokemon that tries to wall you. Salamence gets his Choice Specs/Band knocked right off, seriously hindering his sweeping ability. Taking away a cresselia's leftovers and then Leech Seeding it is truly evil, and will wear down the duck quickly, or any wall for that matter. Sleep Powder is another move that makes things fear switching into you, as nothing enjoys being put to sleep. Power Whip is just your standard, strong STAB move. Life Orb Sweeper Tangrowth (F) @ Life Orb Ability: Chlorophyll EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Naughty Nature (+Atk, -SDef) - Power Whip - Hidden Power [Fire / Ice] - Earthquake - Sunny Day If I remember correctly, Toy was the first to use this set. Ok, the first thing you'll want to do is set up Sunny Day. Not only will this double your speed, but it will also power up Hidden Power [Fire]. Then, proceed to sweep. Power Whip will OHKO the following: Garchomp, Tyranitar, Swampert, Manaphy, and probably some other water types. It will 2KO the following: Gyarados, Blissey, Slowbro and Rhyperior. HP [Fire] will 2KO Skarmory and Heracross. However, you can use HP [Ice] to get the hit on Dragons like Salamence. Earthquake OHKOs Magnezone, Raikou, and Electivire among others. So basically, this thing is a beast. Swords Dance Tangrowth @ Leftovers Ability: Leaf Guard EVs: 240 HP / 232 Atk / 36 Spe Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Swords Dance - Power Whip - Earthquake / Rock Slide - Stun Spore Eh, this set is novelty at best, because, even with great attack and stun spore, there are things that do this a lot better. Power Whip is your strong STAB move, and Earthquake gets the steel types that resist Grass. Rock Slide will kill flying types that also resist grass, so the choice is yours. Stun Spore makes up for Tangrowth's speed. Somewhat. Other Options: A Rest + Sleep Talk set has potential, but isn't a good choice for a Sleep Absorber, as most things that use sleeping moves poop on Tangrowth (think Gengar). Reflect increases Tangrowth's great defense even farther. Aerial Ace 2KOs Heracross. Morning Sun (XD move) is an OK recovery move. EVs / Nature: Max HP will really compliment his defensive capabilities. Counters: Salamence is an excellent counter, resisting Grass and being Immune to Earthquake. A good HP Ice would really surprise him though. Same goes for Skarmory, but he has to watch out for HP Fire. Heatran is a great counter is Earthquake is absent. Also most other fire types (Moltres and Charizard in particular). Cresselia has great defenses to take Power Whips and will Ice Beam you to hell. Weezing is immune to Earthquake, resists EQ, and will kill you with Sludge Bomb. Opinion: One of my favorite Pokemon, it is extremely useful. --------------------
