Denar continued to back away from the man. "now, hold on a minute." he said defensively. The man drew a sword and muttered something almost inaudible. Denar didn't like where this was going. "okay," he said ." first of all I did not call her that, And sec-" The other man said something else. " okay, I get your point." Denar said, as the manhad the sword tip pressed against his midsection. Then he noticed something about the man. His sword was much too expensive for an unsuccessfull merchant, as he claimed to be. Also, the hilt had the mark of a small, but very skilled assassin's guild who operated out of Aridhol. He had more than a few run-ins with them as a sniffer. He barley escaped most of those, and only actually beat two. All other ones were draws. He really could use some help right now.

Triste had taken a long afternoon walk through the gardens and gone as far as tp pull a few weeds and make a crown of flowers for each of the attendants that were wiht her and one of fine yellow flowers for herself. As she walked back into the palace and headed for her office the warm afternoon sunlight lit up the hallways so beautifully that she utterly forgot about the funny crown of flowers, representing all the simple pleasurs she no longer enjoyed.
She passed another main corridor and noticed the skirmish through the corner of her eye. She nearly walked along anyway, but decided to take on the responsibility of all in the land. If i can't know what is going on in my own palace, how could I be able to control the whole land. Her though was ment to encourage her current efforts in investigating the two figures she'd just spotted. As she turned back around and peeked down the corridor she could see one of the troubled merchants that had arrived at the palace with Denar. The man had his sword drawn and seemed to be threatening Denar with more than a scratch. Triste didn't know what was going on, but though it best to act, and act quickly. She opened up to the one power quickly and wove thick strands of air around the merchant and then bound them tightly. As she began moving closer to the men she could see some strain in Denar's eyes and quickly bound the man tighterin air, so that she was sure he could only move his eyes. Upon reaching the two men she stood a bit behind the merchant, so that he couldn't yet see her. She spoke clearly, not hiding the tones in her voice at all. "Denar, what is going on here? Need I bind you as well?" She wouldn't bind her general up like that, at least not until he tried to kill her or something, but never before. Though a few weaves to push him away were waiting to be formed as she looked on at the man. -------------------- |

Denar was suprised at first. The man was just about to run him through and he stopped. Then Triste spoke. He jumped, he had been too focused on the apparently frozen man in front of him.
"Nothing," he said"Just an old...aqaintance of mine." looking at the man, he did look vaguely familiar. "His friends don't like me too much." He could not let her know how he knew this man's friends or his reason for being on bad terms with them. She might learn too much. That would be bad, espescially for him, since he beleived his job may be in danger. -------------------- ![]() |
