Posts should be at least 250 words, though they may aim to be longer. As a general rule, you should use the first post in a thread as a guideline as to how long your posts should be.
You should try to post regularly, particularly if you are in an active roleplay with another member. Regardless, you should try to post at least once a week. You must write in third person past tense. If someone is speaking, use quotation "" marks. To indicate thought, use italics. Please double space all paragraphs. Posts marked OTA are open to anyone. However, if two or more people are already roleplaying in such a thread, you should PM whoever started the thread to ask if you can join (do not just ask permission at the top of your reply, as this is clearly contradictory). Posts not marked OTA should be assumed closed. If you want to join, you should likewise PM whoever started the thread. Posts should cover more than mere action and dialogue. The most important thing in a post is how your character is thinking and feeling, and this should make up the bulk of your post. Try to keep OOC discussions in IC posts to a minimum, and be sure to label any OOC remarks as such. All posts must include correct grammar and spelling. If you frequently make mistakes, use Word or another word processing program. Occasional typos will of course be tolerated, but if your grammar and spelling are too bad your post may be deleted. This includes OOC posts, to the point that they must be easily understandable to other readers. Godmoding is *not* allowed. I'm sure everybody has been guilty of it at some stage, to a greater or lesser degree. Try to pick out your character's strengths and weaknesses carefully, and rp them appropriately. Metagaming is an even bigger, and less recognised problem. While the post of the person you're rp-ing with will likely state both their actions and their intentions, your character will *only* be aware of their actions. Yes, even if they're super-observant. In other words, if a Domani Aes Sedai flirts with a male Asha'man, he *will* be tempted. He will not be able to say "she was obviously trying to flirt; he hated it when women did that," unless he has a very strong will, or he simply 'doesn't like women that way.' I have seen this done a million times, and, while it may be done subconsciously, it is simply not realistic. No-one wants their characters to be manipulated but, let's face it, it will happen. You should try to refrain from moving other peoples characters as much as possible. While this is generally acceptable to some extent, be aware that you may be asked to edit your post by the otehr player if you do this. The only time you should write in significant actions of another's character, such as speech, is either if you know the other player, and character, extremely well; if you have permission from the other player; or if the two of you have collaborated on the post. -------------------- The Age of Glory ~ Court of Nine Moons ~ Shining Towers |

However, I have a question.. I am a Norwegian, and even though English is what I'm best in at school, I have some mistakes and such in grammar and spelling... Is that okay? I can't use Word to correct my writing, because something is wrong with the Word I have, so it doesn't work properly.. -------------------- |

That's fine, hun. I've worked with a lot of people on these forum who native language is not English, and, while I tend to cut them extra slack, I often find they don't need it. Your roleplaying is fine, anyway, so no need to worry.

*cuddles* As I said to Stella, that's fine. As long as you do your best, that's all you need to worry about.
