.....Why?
Is my very simple question to you....WHY does it have to be Religion VS Science?

Religion and science should try to work together and not dissmiss each other!

Science has gotten us far, but they haven't been able to prove it all...

Religion has some quite smart ways of living and rules in them, but not all are smart.

Its not a fact that God does or doesn't exist!

And theres nothing wrong with bein gay!

And last of all....THE POPE IS A FUCKING FRAUD!

Well neither do I. I mean science is cool, so I'd believe more in that but I don't practice any religion so I don't get caught up in religious discrimination.

I'm religious, but in my own little way.
I believe in some parts of most religions, but I don't dismiss evolution and science for that.

I, being an artist that draw my own characters, know what its like to design a character. You draw one design, don't like it and change something.

Thats what I believe that evolution was.
God was the artist and our ancestors the art. ^^

I've never heard anyone state an oppinion like mine on this and I feel quite proud of it. And I do believe it too. =]

The most likely reason is that sciance and religion most oftenly collide when it comes to how things of the universe work (Catholic church didn't accept sun as the center of our galaxy and the planets revolving around it till the late 1900s) I think they also combat eachother because theres those that like to have things proven, or heavy facts for them, before they believe them.

Im one of those lol. Makes R.E difficult...

I myself lean towards science more because what's said is proven to me. Well, that and we discovered fire that way. =D

Oh boy... It seems no matter where I go, this will always seem to follow me. laugh.gif

Okay, this topic and I have a, like, history sorta thing. Pretty much documented volumes of it. It happens to be practically my bread and butter!

First of all, I am what you call an 'atheist'. For those who happen to not know what this word means (especially considering how long it took me to figure out dry.gif), it means that I don't believe in god. NO, it does NOT mean:

a) I hate god. I don't hate what I don't believe in!
cool.gif I'm not just an atheist towards the Christian god, it's any religion that happens to exist (and if this seems like common sense to you, you'd be surprised how many people beg to differ...)
c) I hate religious people. You wouldn't believe how many people think all athiests wish hateful things towards religious people. That's a pathetic stereotype.

Anyway, as I said before, I have a history... I belong (or belonged, I don't go to them anymore) to a couple of Theological forums, each of which I have debated several religious people on (and some of them are complete nutcases) and gotten into heated arguments on regular occasion, etc.

So, my stance on this, naturally, comes to a default "I believe in science." When something is proven, there is absolutely no amount of wishful thinking on the planet that can change it! This goes for a number of topics, for instance, the theory of Evolution, the generally accepted age of the Earth (for those who don't happen to know, the Bible is regarded as saying that the Earth is only 6-7 thousand years old...), and the existance of life on other planets, etc...

And, just so you know, (and I am SO not trying to pick a fight or start an argument, merely letting you in on something) Spike, the 'Monkey Evolution' thing is a misconception. You have to understand evolution from a different perspective than what is generally taught in school and propagated to say by the Church, etc... It's not like monkeys just slowly 'got better' until they started walking, talking, and eventually living the way we do today. And it's not even like we 'came from monkeys.' Any Christian who has ever tried to argue evolution with me says almost all of that, word for word, and I just have to let you know. I have no wish to debate it, discuss it, and I even came to this forum simply to escape from it. Just letting you know so you don't make the mistake of thinking of evolution in those terms. Real friendly-like. laugh.gif

Evolution is adaptation, which cannot be scoffed at, looking at birds over the last 10 years we can see it.
