Oh boy... It seems no matter where I go, this will always seem to follow me.

Okay,
this topic and I have a, like, history sorta thing. Pretty much documented volumes of it. It happens to be practically my bread and butter!
First of all, I am what you call an 'atheist'. For those who happen to not know what this word means (especially considering how long it took me to figure out

), it means that I don't believe in god. NO, it does NOT mean:
a) I hate god. I don't hate what I don't believe in!

I'm not just an atheist towards the Christian god, it's any religion that happens to exist (and if this seems like common sense to you, you'd be surprised how many people beg to differ...)
c) I hate religious people. You wouldn't believe how many people think all athiests wish hateful things towards religious people. That's a pathetic stereotype.
Anyway, as I said before, I have a history... I belong (or belong
ed, I don't go to them anymore) to a couple of Theological forums, each of which I have debated several religious people on (and some of them are complete nutcases) and gotten into heated arguments on regular occasion, etc.
So, my stance on this, naturally, comes to a default "I believe in science." When something is proven, there is absolutely no amount of wishful thinking on the planet that can change it! This goes for a number of topics, for instance, the theory of Evolution, the generally accepted age of the Earth (for those who don't happen to know, the Bible is regarded as saying that the Earth is only 6-7 thousand years old...), and the existance of life on other planets, etc...
And, just so you know, (and I am SO not trying to pick a fight or start an argument, merely letting you in on something) Spike, the 'Monkey Evolution' thing is a misconception. You have to understand evolution from a different perspective than what is generally taught in school and propagated to say by the Church, etc... It's not like monkeys just slowly 'got better' until they started walking, talking, and eventually living the way we do today. And it's not even like we 'came from monkeys.' Any Christian who has ever tried to argue evolution with me says almost all of that, word for word, and I just have to let you know. I have no wish to debate it, discuss it, and I even came to this forum simply to escape from it. Just letting you know so you don't make the mistake of thinking of evolution in those terms. Real friendly-like.
