THE RULESokay so i'm not going to insult your intelligence by listing things that you already know so why waste my time and yours? if you're new to this whole rping thing then you can pm an admin and we'll help you out but for those of you who are more experienced, you'll already know the ins and outs. as a little reminder though, we've composed a list of things you must know below so please take some time to read through them as they are important:
- it's a given but bears saying anyway: respect the admins and be nice to all other members. bullying of any kind will not be tolerated - if someone is causing you trouble, please PM one of the admins and we will deal with it. DO NOT bring OOC drama to the board or use the forums or c-box to publicly harass someone.
- we love originality and have a wide range of canons available, so please don't be afraid to have older characters or play someone a little different from what you're used to. the only thing we don't want is mary-sues and gary-stus - nobody's perfect at everything, even if they think they are.
- when you register for the site, register as your character's name, with a first middle and last name all in lower case (no pressing the shift or caps lock keys!). if you make a mistake, you can PM an admin on one of their character accounts (all are linked to in the sidebar) and they'll fix it for you.
- for face claims, you'll see from our canon list that we are accepting a wide range of celebrities from disney stars to the hollywood a-list. the only face claims we are disallowing are unknown models from myspace and those who have officially said that they do not want to be used such as lara jade and frieda rose. we don't want to get into any trouble and we're sure you don't either. as a rule of thumb, if the only thing people know them for is being on myspace/deviantart, we won't be accepting them as a face claim.
- if your character has a child who is too young to be a playable character but would like to have pictoral representation for them, we would ask that you choose child models or actors over celebrities' children - unless, of course, the children are famous in their own right. these kids haven't chosen to be in the public eye, after all, and they can't help who their parents are.
- we're a literate rp, which means no one-liners or short paragraph posts. generally we expect at least 500 words per post - not a difficult target to hit. of course, we understand people have off days where they can't post as much but don't let that become a habit! if you're stuck for what to say, try to describe feelings, surroundings, past events and your word count will soon shoot up.
- we like pretty avatars and signatures, so please make sure you have them for your character. if you can't make graphics yourself, you can request them here or try sites such as CAUTION. just remember if you are using someone else's graphics to make sure you host them yourself (either to a Photobucket account or somewhere like TinyPic) and give credit to the person who did make them. hotlinked and/or uncredited images WILL be removed. also, make sure your signature doesn't stretch the board.
- all big events including pregnancies, character deaths and anything that affects plot across the site must be cleared by the admins first. this, of course, does not include characters who are pregnant when they enter the game, but let's not have too many of these, okay? this rule also includes moving from one apartment to another (eg to live with their new lover or move away from their parents) and moving your character(s) to another floor. we reserve the right to ask you for IC justification for any change of address your character undergoes if it is not apparent from your roleplaying to date.
- right now we are not imposing a limit on the number of characters, but we would suggest no more than four and certainly no more than you can handle - if you have two characters you never play, we're not going to let you pick up a third because it's not fair to other players who might want the canon(s) and/or face claim(s) and would play them. in the interest of balance, if you have more than one character then we would prefer that they all be from different floors and we are imposing a maximum of two characters from a single floor, any further characters for the same floor will be rejected. Also, if you have two female characters and would like a third then that third must be male. you may, however, have all male characters if you wish, though this may change if we get too unbalanced.
- last but not least, have fun!
i think that's all, but you guys know the drill. there are general rules about role-playing that pretty much everyone knows and they still count here, even though they might not be listed. if you have any queries, feel free to give us a shout. we're pretty nice actually and we love helping people out. plus it's better to ask if you're not sure right? yup.
