How do people view his performances in New Zealand? In my opinion, he has been terrific, taking his chances with both hands, with his 65 a highlight. He is very unlucky not to be selected for the Test squad, but is almost a shoe in for the Ashes in 2005.

Your thoughts?

Was the most unlucky player in Australian Cricket History until he got a ODI Cap in 2003/04 at Perth.

He has had a sensational domestic career. 162 First Class Matches, most to all of them for Domestic Teams. He has made 13,953 runs in those 162 runs at an average exceeding 50, and Highest Score of 331*. He has also had a very good List-A record, average in the mid 40's, coming in at around 5 or 6, despite earlier known as an opener.

Experienced Hussey turns 30 in May, so opportunities for the baggygreen are running out, but atleast he can have success as a late middle order batsman to help Australia out in the shorter version of the game.

His New Zealand tour has been impressive, after having a strong Australian Summer for WA, and as always, a valuable contributor to Northamptonshire over in England. His unbeaten 65 was superb to watch. He played like a vintage Mark Waugh with his strokes, and a head of Michael Bevan when forming a partnership when the side was in trouble. Hussey was looking great, pushing the singles until there was 5 overs remaining, and then he and Michael Clarke worked those singles into boundaries to take Australia to a score past 250.

A squad of around 16 is usually picked for the Ashes in both forms, and he will be in the ODI squad, and definately the next in line for test selection, so he should make way into the Test Squad.

Hussey and Hodge now have to be rewarded with the green caps.

Michael Hussey has been a regular standout for Western Australia for many years now.
