Title: Rules For Tgs Tv Drama(wip)

Cassus Kagal - March 8, 2006 05:46 PM (GMT)
Okay, Vader asked me to start this up, but technically it's Kyle's forum, and thus it's a WIP. If he doesn't like my ideas and wants to alter it, he most certainly may. Also, I don't want this to be called "TGS TV Drama". I want to have some spiffy name, like this was acctually some show, like "Firefly" or something neat like that. If you have a title suggestion, please submit it here.

Now, I'm thinking this should be a serious game, with humour thrown in the mix to keep it light, as if it was a real TV program.

As far as plot goes, it sounds like it should be somewhat "sci-fi", in that other planets are colonized, we fly around in a ship, etc. My idea is that we are a group of people out to fight communism and eventually restore the galaxy to democracy, a little like the television show "Andromeda". Our ship is fairly large, with a good sized crew. Basicly, it will be understood that there are several non-player characters(NPCs); that is, people in our made up universe not being used by any of us, aboard the ship. Technology levels though...how about if we say that personal technology(such as guns, armour, etc.) is not much better than what we have now, so you'll have bullets instead of lasers, and Kevlar instead of personal sheilds? Starships on the other hand will have better tech, using lasers and such. We'll just assume they havn't figured out how to make lasers on a smaller scale. The starship we're on will be called the Scythian, unless somone has a better name.

As for our basic rules, they'll remain mostly the same as the PvsN RPG:

1. No major character deaths! Maimings and such are allowed, characters can get injured, but may not be killed unless the character's 'owner' states otherwise.

2. NO SPAMMING! Pretty much self explanatory. We have a whole topic full of it already.

3. No more than one character per member. People tend to lose track of characters a lot, so we'll limit this RPG to one.

4. Time relevancy: Shown above.

5. Enjoy yourselves!

As for character creation, it should go something like this:

Name: Cassus "Cool-Cannon" Kagal
Rank: Cheif Gunner
Weapon(s): Kreig 550 Commando(sniper), Night Hawk .50C Pistol, P-90 Sub-Machine Gun.
Armour/Equipment: Kevlar vest, Night Vision.
History: Cassus Kagal, who is known to the rest of the crew as "Cool-Cannon Cassy" is the cheif gunner aboard the starship Scythian, and as such is required to make sure that all the ship's laser cannons and space torpedos are fully functional. Formerly a commando for the Democratic Galactic Union*(working title)*, he still carries some of his older weapons. He quite accurate in sniping, and even more deadly when controling Scythian's weapons systems.

I'll have a topic made for the characters to be posted. Now, let's wait a little while and see if people like this idea, and then we'll start.

Very good.

Punks Still Pray - March 8, 2006 05:55 PM (GMT)
Sounds good. But I'm a bit confused, do you want us to post our character creations here, or what? I can't rightly think of a name at the moment... I'd probably end up suggesting something that is the name of a cool song. :P

Cassus Kagal - March 8, 2006 05:57 PM (GMT)
No, for now this is basicly the "suggestions box". I'll have a topic open for RPing and for characters when Kyle give's the "OK"

-Cassus

Punks Still Pray - March 8, 2006 07:03 PM (GMT)
Aha. Now to pester Kyle... :P

I've got me bio ready. Huzzah.

Kamaku - March 8, 2006 08:33 PM (GMT)
PSP, if you pester me, I'll show you more freaky photos

As for what Cassus posted, I'm cool with most of it. The only thing is, I don't have any problems with communism.

All other things check out OK.

Well, if you don't want it to be communism, what else should we have it be?

-Cassus

Kamaku - March 8, 2006 08:53 PM (GMT)
I dunno...capitalism?

Punks Still Pray - March 8, 2006 10:08 PM (GMT)
:RF:

Not cool.

Hows abouts neo-nazis?

Vega - March 8, 2006 10:19 PM (GMT)
I think we should be fighting a powerful alien dictator.

Aeneas - March 8, 2006 10:20 PM (GMT)

What if there's no multi-planet group we are fighting against? What if there is a small galactic democracy growing up from a few planets, and we are an ambassador ship to other worlds?

Or we could be a peacemaker ship sent by this democracy to settle disputes on planets. Like, a planets government has a problem, they need help, they send in a request, we get sent to take care of the problems (Peacefully, but using force if neccessary) and get out and voila!

Or, we could do both. Be a peacemaker vessel and an ambassador ship.

C'mon Smally, peace doesn't make an RPG. :P

I said peacemaker...I didn't say pacifist. If there is retaliation, we sort the matter out a different way, say, eliminate the enemy? And besides, it wont always be us going into a situation and trying to make the best of it. Sometimes we'd get attacked.

So think of peacemaker to mean this: Negotiations first, Violence later.

I was kind of hoping we were going to be freelancers.

Punks Still Pray - March 8, 2006 11:06 PM (GMT)
Me too.

Cassus Kagal - March 8, 2006 11:14 PM (GMT)
We'll likely end up more freelance, but still with the goal of preserving the Union.

-Cassus

Punks Still Pray - March 8, 2006 11:18 PM (GMT)
Okay, that's cool.

Kamaku - March 9, 2006 01:04 AM (GMT)
Also:

In all seriousness, I don't think all that many people would completely align themselves with Neo-Nazism. What if, we had a whole bunch of deplorable groups that rallied under one banner (ala the Axis powers of WWII)?

-Kamaku

Martin - March 9, 2006 01:09 AM (GMT)
Banner idea, yes, good. Also, how about no aliens? No aliens is fun, sometimes. What do you losers think?

Well... my character is an alien.

Alright, well, go ahead and edit that first post then, k?

I have to say, I am inclined to agree with him. It'd be nice if you could change that, but, whatever works I guess. It's Kyle's forum, we should ask him.

-Cassus

Kamaku - March 9, 2006 01:37 AM (GMT)
*ponders*

Sorry, Vega. I gotta go with no aliens. But feel free to adapt your human character to be however you want (heck, make him Master Chief if you want to  )

-Kamaku

Vega - March 9, 2006 01:38 AM (GMT)
But... but... but I want to be an alien!

Kamaku - March 9, 2006 01:40 AM (GMT)
You could be an android with a human brain that looks like a Covenant Engineer...

-Kamaku

Vega - March 9, 2006 01:42 AM (GMT)
*EDIT* Forget that. Just please let me play as my updated character.

Martin - March 9, 2006 01:56 AM (GMT)
Question - does this ship have non-military passengers on it, like the Enterprise-D and Serenity, or is it strictly crew, like the Defiant or your standard Star Wars ship?

I'd say yes, diplomats and other people. It's not entirly a warship, it's also trying to bring people back to the Union.

-Cassus

Vega - March 9, 2006 02:02 AM (GMT)
Forget that. Could I be the ship AI?

Kamaku - March 9, 2006 04:03 PM (GMT)
I don't see why not.

Go for it.

-Kamaku

Cassus Kagal - March 9, 2006 05:33 PM (GMT)
The ship has AI? :P Ah, forget it, sounds fine.

Vega, you're such a Halo geek. :P

-Cassus

Punks Still Pray - March 9, 2006 05:48 PM (GMT)
AI = ...?

Artificial Intelligance? XD

Vega - March 9, 2006 06:54 PM (GMT)
I updated my post.

Punks Still Pray - March 9, 2006 07:07 PM (GMT)
Ugh. Vega, can't you be a human? This is rediculous. I'm not gonna fix you when you blow a fuse.

Vega - March 9, 2006 07:20 PM (GMT)
Kammy is fine with me being an AI.

Punks Still Pray - March 9, 2006 08:15 PM (GMT)
But I'm not. And I can shut you down. :P

Kamaku - March 9, 2006 08:42 PM (GMT)
Well I can edit your posts.

Vega can be the ship's AI, and that's final.

-Kamaku

Punks Still Pray - March 9, 2006 08:46 PM (GMT)
Meh, fine. <_<

What do you have against being a human, anyways, Veg?

Vega - March 9, 2006 09:07 PM (GMT)
I just wanted to be something differant.

Vega - March 11, 2006 03:04 AM (GMT)
Come on people! Post!

Kamaku - March 11, 2006 04:15 PM (GMT)
Everybody's already been using my character, and I just don't any drive to post.
