Hey, guys, let's play the "can you spot the fault?" with Rob Liefeld art... He'd look like that from above: Beautiful eyes! 1- we know one of Rob's biggest weaknesses are feet. He usually hides them behind something to save the embarassment... but not here, and it's not really better. 2- Where's Cable's foot? 3- Bend your arm and touch your shoulder; do you think Cable here can do the same? 4 and 6 - Why so many lines? 7- This guy seems to have one arm longer than the other. 8- There's something wrong with the elbows... And did you notice the girl in green, the girl in yellow and the guy in white have the exact same posture? What creativity. 150-35-150, ouch. And the rest doesn't need comments...

Hey there there, now! There is one character he technically can't screw up anatomically. Namely Warlock... Okay, I have said that before, but you get me point?

I fucking love you.
Also, "best" is a very ill-chosen word to describe Liefeld's art...

Thats not too bad.
I know I'm the lone guy here, but I think some of his work can be ok. It's not great, its mearly "ok" but hes a better artist then some of the crap I've seen. And I've seen some crap.
My argument has always been
"If you cant do any better, dont judge those who can"
He's a better artist then me, so I wont judge him. If I ever get better then him, then yea, I'll critizise him. But at the moment, I accept his work.

That argument's a heap of shit - you don't have to be able to draw better than him, you just have to be able to see others who do (i.e. everyone)

Look at how his leg connects to his torso. Apparently, humans have some impressively mobile joint between the hip and the knee I was not aware of.

Oh, I agree. When Liefeld isn't screwing up anatomy and physical continuity, I don't have a problem with him. When you consider the percentage of his work where he DOES screw up, though, it rapidly becomes apparent that he needs to read some Loomis before he does more work as a professional artist. | QUOTE | My argument has always been

That argument would be fine if he was drawing for his own amusement. The problem is that he's not. He's selling his artistic capability to companies so that we can pay for his work, work that competes with everyone else who's willing to sell their talent. None of the people who criticize Liefeld are going to pick up some middle schooler's drawings and say that they blow, but Liefeld isn't a middle schooler - he's playing at being a professional comics artist, and if his work completely fails to live up to the standards set by other professionals, he deserves to be ruthlessly mocked for everything he peddles until he starts learning how to draw human beings from square one.

Heh heh! What about the way he covers lower extremities with smoke so he doesnt have to draw them? This isn't quite the best example but he used to do it a lot. If you ever read Lethargic comics they made fun of that all the time. I once saw a "How to make comics" Marvel film with Mcfarlane, Jim Lee and Liefeld that was really funny. When Jim Lee was drawing, Liefeld actually asked him what anatomy was and Todd said "that's why your anatomy sucks!" or something to that effect. The tape was recorded when Image first started out years ago. I wonder how much more arrogant Todd got afterwards.

Did'nt say others couldnt draw better then him. Just said "I" could'nt draw better then him, so I dont feel i have the right to critizise. I know tons of artists who are better, but I also know tons of artists worse (In MY opinion) but in the way I view life, I dont complain unless I can do something about it. If I could draw better then him, and wanted to draw comics, I'd be pissed. But I dont, so I wont complain.

Yep, pritty much agree with everything you said. When he actually draws well, he draws really well.
I dont like alot of his work, but I wont complain about all his work, becouse I do enjoy some of it.

That argument is stupid. Just because I might not be able to make a better movie than Uwe Boll doesn't mean that I shouldn't be critical of his movies. I don't need to be a game programmer to know that Drake of the 99 Dragons sucks.

I think it's a combination of the two that's really deadly. Not that he's terribly lacking in either.
He must have a fairly gender-specific fanbase. Most twelve-year-old boys can probably ignore glaring musculature errors as long as they have zomgwtf big guns to enjoy, but I can't even look at Liefeld's women without wanting to invest in a back brace. Yowch.

In McFarlane's case? Both.
