Charlie stood arms folded across his chest, staring at giant cloud of smoke coming from the plane. At least most of the fire had gone out by now. He scratched the back on his head with one hand, and then heaved a great sigh while turning away from the scene. He noticed some people setting up camp already. He had no idea where his luggage had gone but at least he found his guitar before it bursted into flames. Charlie felt inside his pocket making sure his heroin was still with him. He felt a sharp pain of guilt in his chest.

He stood around for a few minutes wondering what to do. He didn't know anyone here, and he didn't plan on making friends with everyone right now. Besides, they weren't going to be stuck here forever, right? Charlie headed along the beach watching the waves crash while walking just close enough to the water so it wasn't touching his feet.

He drummed his fingers along with a beat in his head. It was an old song he had written before his band had broken up. Charlie started muttering the words to himself softly, just encase someone was close enough to hear him. He didn't want people's first impression of him to be a crazy man. The sun started to set and Charlie found a good spot in the sand, where it wasn't crowded or wet, so he could sit down. It was more of a fall than a careful set down. He let out a tired sigh, and then fell onto his back so he was facing the sky.

Claire sat in the sand, an Oceanic Airlines blanket wrapped around her. She stared blankly out at the blue waves, crashing against the sand like a cat and a dog. The col ocean breeze fluttered through her blonde, wavy hair. She swallowed hard, and since the crash has been wondering,

"Where are the rescue planes? The helicopters? Boats? Anything?"

but still nothing and no-one else has come. She didn't even know if there was civilaztion on this island, but hopefully she wouldn't be here long enough to find out.

A blink in her green blue eyes broke the trance of the waves and Claire's mind and she turned her head from her left to right. She saw manym people, but the closest person, a man with blondish brownish hair and a guitar, sat in the sand. He was about 50, 60 feet away, and he was moved into a lying position. Claire smiled and looked back at the water.

Charlie played with one of his rings around his index finger. Twirling it around, he sighed knowing that it was probably going to take a few more days for help to come. He pulled himself up and looked around once again. The same people were surrounding him except this time a pregnant lady caught his eye. From where he was sitting, he could only see the her beautiful blonde, wavy hair. It didn't take him long to make a decision on whether or not to go and talk to her.

Charlie was slowly making his way over there. He dusted the sand off his body and tried to flatten his hair out a little. Once he arrived next to her, he could see her face now. Her bright blue eyes were what stood out most to him. Quickly gathering himself, he cleared his throat softly letting her know he was there. "Er...hey" He said. "Mind if I sit?" He asked while motioning to the empty space beside her.

( I'm going on vacation for about a week. I'll be leaving tomorrow and I'll be back on the 10th. I won't get the chance to go on the computer, but I'll reply to your post once I get back =] )

((Okaayy! Dang, I am going on vacation on the ninth, so I will just miss you! I might be able to bring this laptop, though!))

Claire looked up at the sound of somebody's voice, and saw the man she had eyed earlier. The one with the blonde hair. SHe smiled and nodded,

"Sure, go ahead."

she replied, looking back at the waves, trying not to be rude. She loved staring deep into the waves, ever since she was young in Australia. She remembered one night, when she was about 8 years old...

Bang.
Bang.
Someone was knocking on the front door. Claire sat up quicky, well alert that someone was wanting to enter at...Claire looked at her clock. 4:45 AM. She sighed. wondering who it was. She didn't get out of bed until she heard her mother scamper down the hall in her bathrobe.
Bang.
Bang.
Claire heard the front door open and the banging deceased. But now there was yelling. She could hear rain pouring from the sky, and she turned toward her window on the left. Droplets of rain fell onto the glass as she looked outside. Darkness surroundede the house, but Claire was not afraid.

"She's my....I should...."

Claire couldn't make out every word, but she knew it was not coming from her mother. It was a man's voice, much deeper than her mother's.

"Get out of...! Go.....! No right to see.....!"

this voice was definetly her mother's. "Who is that..." Claire whispered to herself. She blinked her blue green eyes sleepily and pushed the covers off of her body. She slipped her little feed onto the wooden floor, trying not to make a sound. She tiptoed across her bedroom placed her hand on the golden knob. The door knob felt cold, freezing, on Claire's palm as she carefully yet quietly turned t, peeking out of the crack. She was looking straight through the living room and at her mother in a purple bath robe. Rain spilled in through the door. Now she could hear everything. Yelling and all.

"Get out of here! Don't you ever come back here! You hear! You need help!"

she repeated about twice as the man's voice disapeared into the night. She heard two slams. Car doors, and then an engine. She turned her eye toward her mother again and she had her face in her hands, shutting the door. Carole Littleton leaned against the front door of her hands as she cried for only a minute before looking up, rubbing her eyes. Claire quickly shut the door as quietly as possible and scurried to her bed, climbing under her covers and turning on her side before closing her eyes.
Footsteps.
The door knob turned and Carole stepped io, not closing the door. She had rain water on her face, and her bathrobe was slightly damp. She walked over to her 8 year old daughter and got onto her knees next to her bed. Claire slowly opened her eyes, pretending to have been asleep. Into her mother's eyes, Claire stared. They showed fear, but she was trying to act like nothing was wrong.

"Who was that?"

asked Claire in her Australian accent, looking into her mother's eyes questioningly.

"Nobody important..."

said her mother, hugging Claire close to her body.

Claire sighed, blinking her green blue eyes.

Charlie gave a quick smile at her reply. He rubbed his hands together while softly setting himself down next to her. He gave a soft sigh while following her gaze to the ocean. He was guessing that she probably wasn't in much of a mood to talk to a stranger after what all had happened so far. Some people were still in a little shock.

"I almost forgot to introduce myself" He muttered softly more to himself than her. "Anyway...I'm Charlie" He said with a grin on his face. "So..." He said softly while taking a glance at her stomach. He knew it was going to be a hard time for her while they were on the island. It would be even worse if she had to give birth here.

"Er...do you know when the baby is due?" He asked her softly. She seemed to be daydreaming or something like that, but he didn't feel like waving his hand in front of her face or anything like that. He stared at her face, studying the details until he told himself to look away. He picked up a handful of sand and then loosened his grip, letting the grains fall through his fingers.

The light from the sun reflected on his ring. The ring that had the initials D.S. on them. He remembered when his brother had given it to him. It was one of the last times he had seen his brother. It was one of the days were they actually had a conversation that didn't end with fighting or yelling.

Charlie blinked and shook his head softly. Soon enough he was staring out to the ocean as well.

Claire broke the trance and blinked, turning to CHarlie. "I'm Claire," she said, blinking her green blue eyes. Her blonde hair whippped passed her face as she spoke, and she nodded. "He's due in about a month. " she said, still rubbing her belly. She realized that she had said 'he'. "Or she..." she added. She pursed her lips, waiting for a reply.

The waves still crashed against the sand almost noiseless, and it's a wonder that it was possible. She saw out of the corner of her eye, Charlie pick up sand in his hand and let is drip through his fingers like water. She still stared at that noiseless water. Crashing against the beach without sound. It was truely amazing.

((Cheezy, yes. And I repeated a lot in the last paragraph...))

Once all the sand had fallen from his hand, he looked back at the person sitting next to him. "Claire...." He said to himself so softly it sounded almost like a whisper. "That's a beautiful name" Charlie added afterwards and smiled at her. He kept his grin on at the thought of a baby. Even though he had no kids of his own, he still enjoyed playing with them. "Oh...well that's soon" He pointed out although felt a little stupid after. Of course that's soon you idiot! He thought to himself. He then turned back and squinted at the ocean. For some reason he kept thinking there was something out there or Claire wouldn't have been staring at it so much.

Charlie then heard her add the last part about the baby's gender. "Alright here's a question for you..." He paused while leaning on the back on his hands. "Would you rather have a girl or a boy?" He asked and chuckled softly at the end. Most women who were pregnant just told him that they didn't care, or they were happy with whatever they got.

(ooc: lol, it's alright, we all get writers block some days)

Claire sighed. "Well, would I really be the one happy about it if I see the child once before I give him or her up?" Claire inquired. She already thought the child resented her for giving him or her up for adoption, but then saying she would rather have one gender, the oposite of the gender of the child, more than another would be bad. Like the child would want to kill her or something. She wished the child didn't know, and she wished, a small part of her wished, that she could keep the child. Richard Malkin had called her every night for several months, and wouldn't leave her alone because he was convinced she had to raise the child herself. Adoption was not an option. Then he tells her to go to LA and give to child up. What was he up to? How was she supposed to put the baby up for adoption if she was stuck on an island? Claire didn't understand. He couldn't have known that the plane would crash, could he?

(Yeah. I don't usually get it, though. That's why I was angry for not thinking of anything else. )

Charlie was a little shocked about her answer. Even though he was curious to why she wanted to put her child up for adoption, he held his tongue for now. He stared at the sand not really knowing what to say. After a few minutes of silence he looked back at Claire. "So...I'm guessing the a reason why you're giving your child up?" He asked wondering if it was to much of a personal question. He would understand if she didn't want to answer him. Charlie began thinking of idea's in his head. Maybe the father had ran away? Or maybe Claire had the baby on accident and didn't want to take care of it?

He wasn't sure if he was right, but he felt a little sorry for her. The person he had been talking to for the past 5 minutes, seemed like a fairly good person inside. "You don't have answer, it's personal question but it's up to you..." He added afterwards not wanting to get on the wrong foot with her.

Claire nodded, "Bingo. Number one." she said, staring down at her belly. She didn't know if she really wanted this child or not, or how she was going to feel once she gave it up. "But...We were going to take care of him...it just...didn't work." she said. She didn't want to confuse him with the whole Richard Malkin thing, though. He'd be...pretty lost, if she told him that whole bit.

What kind of mother did Charlie think Claire was if she was giving her child up for adoption? Though it's true, she's only known Charlie for five minutes or so, but he looked friendly. And I guess opinions matter some to Claire. Not like they were neccesary or anything.

A thought popped in Charlie's head at her comment. "When you say 'we' you're talking about the father, right?" He said knowing the answer was a bit obvious but you could never be too sure. "If you don't mind me asking, are you married?" He couldn't find a ring on her hand, but they had just been through a plan crash so it may have gotten lost or something.

Charlie bit his lower lip softly while sliding his own ring up and down his finger. He didn't know why, but a small part of him was hoping that she wasn't married. He shook his head and tried to clear his mind. Out of the five minutes they have known each other, Charlie was sure that he looked like a complete idiot right now, and a person who asked to many questions.

ooc: Ok well I'll be gone for a family reunion during the 1st of July through the 7th. I won't be able to go on a computer during that time either. Anyway this is probably going to be the last time I'll be gone for at least a week. So I'll see you soon c:

Claire nodded. "Yeah," she said. She yawned tiredly and blinked her eyes. She didn't want to be rude. "Excuse me, " she said softly. She bit her bottom lip. "No, I'm not,"

She had just met Charlie, and she wondered why he cared if she was or not. Couldn't he tell that she didn't have a ring? Maybe he thought she could've lost it in the crash or something. It wouldn't be strange.

[[Well...I'm leaving for three weeks tomorrow. I can be on the computer for the first week though...]]

"Oh" Charlie said rather quickly, and his voice had been high. He nodded softly while trying to think of something to talk to her about. He didn't know why, but he wanted to get to know her more.

He stared at the sand for a few minutes before speaking. "So, what do you feel like doing? It's about time someone had fun on this island." He stated knowing she was going to think he was crazy because they had just been in a plane crash. And now they were stranded on an island. But to Charlie, there were tons of stuff you could do on an island.
