Hernandez did have a fantastic first half of 2011 with Manchester United and a great summer with Mexico at the Gold Cup, but he has pretty much been missing in action due to recurrent injuries in the 2nd half of the year. That is why I picked Clint Dempsey who was consistent throughout the year for Fulham and produced well for a club which is weaker than Hernandez' Manchester United. My top three for the year in CONCACAF would be:

1. Dempsey
2. Hernandez
3. DeRosario

Hernandez probably does deserve the award even with his quiet 2nd half of the year because his first half was so spectacular. But he is getting enough votes already so I will give mine to Luis Tejada whose goals led Panama to a semifinal place in the Gold Cup and helped his club Juan Aurich win the Peruvian championship for the first time.

My top three then would be:

1. Tejada
2. Hernandez
3. Dempsey

Another Dempsey vote based on consistency throughout the year, not just a great 1/2 season like Hernandez had.

My top three:

1. Dempsey
2. Hernandez
3. Donovan

I don't get this backlash against Chicharito Hernandez. He had a monster season in 2011 scoring goals like crazy for Manchester United, leading his club to English title and Champions League Final then was the dominant player in the Gold Cup. he has to be CONCACAF Player of the Year.

My top three:
1. Hernandez
2. Dempsey
3. Baloy

I garee with Tony, Hernandez should be a landslide winner of this prize. he has been by far the best player in the region in 2011 and in fact,as some others have said, no CONCACAF player since Hugo Sanchez' prime has had as much an effect as Hernandez did in 2011.

My top three:

1. Hernandez
2. Giovani Dos Santos
3. Clint Dempsey

Chicharito with my vote, his year was superb, others have already pointed out his achievements, something only Hugo Sanchez has matched in a single year from CONCACAF.

Runnerup would be Clint Dempsey for his achievements with Fulham and the US with Giovani Dos Santos 3rd, mainly for his first half of 2011 at Racing Santander and his fine Gold Cup.

1. Chicharito

The final results from the 2011 poll for CONCACAF Player of the year:

1. Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez
2. Clint Dempsey
3. Giovani Dos Santos

Hernandez won with 67% of the vote, a huge victory margin as 2nd place Dempsey won 10%.
