Merry Christmas to everyone

Having just received the round robin greetings from the board I'd just like to wish everyone here a great holiday (if you manage to have one!). And also to say that being in this place has been a fantastic breath of fresh air compared to the usual football sites which descend far too often into "my team's ace and yours is crap" sort of playground talk which doesn't get anyone anywhere. So far in my time here the debate has been vigorous but very rarely overstepping the limits of decency and politeness - and though football is a game which is one of great emotions, the ability of people here to exchange rather than shout their views and opinions has been very gratifying.

It's been great too hearing expert views from countries such as Argentina and the USA: I thought I knew more than most about football in these countries, but the knowledge I've found here has been astounding. I get the impression sometimes that a lot of you must be professional journalists in your respective countries!

Anyway, as I say: merry christmas, felices fiestas, have fun!

Like Sporting I became a new member of this message board in 2009 and I love it here. Sporting said it all, this is a passionate game and it is such a pleasure to be able to come here and discuss the sport without getting into the "my team is great, your team is not" type of discussion. The level of discussion makes this an enjoyable place to come and discuss the sport and with the knowledge of so many here, I have learned a lot about the game around the world.

Thank you to everyone here for making this such a fun place to visit. I look forward to our World Cup discussions. Happy holidays to you all.

Hey, it's December 1st, 2012. Guess it is not too early to wish the forum a Happy Holidays. Another year in the books with 2013 looking like a banger as WC qualifying will be in full swing. Hope to see some of you at the matches.

I have posted at other boards, some with some knowledgeable and intelligent posters like here but the difference is there they can resort to name calling, flame wars and/or just come off as being too smarmy. I do not get that impression from here and I am happy to call this place my home for football discussions. I am looking forward to a great 2013 here!
