I was not sure where to put this but decided this thread was as good as any, Ulsan Hyundai's Lee Keun Ho, won the player of the year award in Asia, beating out Iranian midfielder Ali Karimi and Chinese defender Zheng Zhi. Lee Keun Ho became the first Korean to win this award (surprisingly.) That award is given to the best player playing in Asia. The new award for Asian International Player of the Year, the best Asian playing outside of the continent, was won by Manchester United and Japan's Shinji Kagawa, beating out his Japan teammate who is with Inter Milan, Yuto Nagatomo and Fulham's Australian goalie Mark Schwarzer.

Brazilian Rogerinho of Kuwait SC won the award as the top foreign player in Asia.

QUOTE
Alessandro Del Piero's Australian adventure is not going according to plan, with his adopted club Sydney FC in the doldrums and a hamstring injury compounding the Italian World Cup winner's woes.

The long-time Juventus stalwart joined Sydney to much fanfare in the off-season but despite the 38-year-old's best efforts, his side have nose-dived to the bottom of the 10-team league after 10 rounds.

Jong Tae Se, the Japanese born North Korean striker, (remember him from the 2010 World Cup, the People's Rooney?), is leaving Germany where he has been for several years, most recently with FC Cologne and will play in South Korea for Suwon. An interesting move as a North Korean international will play in South Korea.

Bruno Cesar the one time Corinthians attacking midfielder last with Benfica will now play for Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia. He takes the money but drops down in level of football. Not a good move in my view for a 24 year old.

A preview of the start of the new Chinese league season from John Duerden, the English language guru on Asian football.

Drogba and Anelka may have left but Conca, Yakubu, Keita and Utaka amongst other name players are still there.
