Fabio Cannavaro is retiring, his knees no longer would enable him to play. But what an excellent career he has had, as pointe dout in this retrospective on his career:
Fabio CannavaroI enjoyed watching him win titles throughout his career but none more so than seeing him win the scudetto with Juventus and then the crowning achievement to his career not only winning the 2006 World Cup but doing so as Italy's captain and being voted the World Player of the Year that season.
Another in a long line of excellent defenders from Italy, Cannavaro will go down as one of better ones. The vacuum created by his departure from the national team has still not been replaced.
