Sonic and Tails are chilling at South Island beach when an old owl man comes and tells them the president needs them. When they get there, it turns out Dr.Robotnik (Eggman) kidnapped the president and his daughter Sara. Robotnik told Sonic he had to go to the inner dimension of their planet, and stop something called the Robot Generator from blowing up and destroying Planet Freedom, which is what their planet is called. So he and Tails go off to Robotropolis, where the generator is, and along the way meet Knuckles. He helps them against something called Metal Robotnik, who i really a robot piloted by Robotnik himself, but they defeat it and shut down the generator. But then the machine copies Sonic's life data and creates Hyper Metal Sonic. Robotnik wants to use Metal to destroy Sonic's dimension, which is the land of the Sky, so he can then marry Sara and become ruler of Planet Freedom. But Sonic fights Metal, loses, and then goes after Robotnik. Robotnik wants to destroy the ice bridges holding the continents of Sonic's dimension together so they drift off into space, and disintegrate. But Sonic fights Metal again, this time winning and Sonic saves Sara from Robotnik, and Metal falls into a pit of lava. Sonic, being the hero, tries to save Metal, but Metal refuses, saying there is only one Sonic, and melts into the lava. That's pretty much it.
