Here are the first pics of Carl's forthcoming asphalt Thunderbird:
  It's a former Elliot Coors Light rear steer chassis, gotten for a song and a dance. And I sure can't dance!! We will be running a beefed up Rousch Racing 351, massaged out to 429 c.i.d.. Had hoped to take it out this weekend, but several setbacks are going to scrub this one for us. Some painter issues, coupled with problems at the graphics print shop, will most likely keep it off the track. Those, and the fact I am on duty Saturday. So maybe Carl will get to take my old Vega out to a dirt track somewhere, just to work on his driving some. Thanks for looking. Dave -------------------- |

 I have to say Dave, that's ONE GOOD LOOKIN' T-BIRD!!!!!!!! And, "you couldn't have chosen a BETTER color combination"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   FANTASTIC JOB!!!!!!!! TECHMAN ps------- and some of these "characters" were "wondering" why I would NOT "chunk out" a little wimpy 10 to 1 motor, to try to "run" with a STROKER ROUSH motored car!!!!!!!!!  -------------------- DJ's RULE FOR WINNING: OVER CAM IT, OVER CARB IT, OVER GEAR IT, THEN......... OK, after some issues this last weekend I had the boys tear back into it. The big 429 small block was just not gonna cut it, so it has been sent back to Rousch. The replaced it with a .060 over 351, which on the dyno has a much better power curve, and torque coming on a bit quicker. A rattle Carl said he heard coming off the track at the end ended up dictating the rear end getting rebuilt, and about the time it got all stripped down the sign shop called and said our permanent decals were ready! Me and the shop went toe to toe over it, but I finally made them come to our place and put them on! Here is a shot of it right after they finished, should have the car back together for this weekend. Anyway, here is the T-Bird as she sits now:

Thanks Dave! No, the 429 was for real. Ol Jack had called me and offered it up, and I thought why not! But, it still needs some developement. Lost some serious compression in #7 and #2, and while we didn't magnaflux them, the heads looked like they were starting to stress crack. We just bolted them back on and sent the whole package back to Rousch. Maybe when they get the bugs ironed out we will try it again. This time they have sent us a nice "standard" Cleveland for now. See yall at the track.
