Back in the early 1970's if I wasn't mashing my fingers on someone's Hobby Car or Late Model, I would attend the races with the local welder that attended the races each week. Two reasons---Track management would let him and one helper in the pits free! Some nights were calm and on others, after a large pile-up, we would thrash and weld and grind on competitors racers welding parts back on. Whatever he made, he would take out for materials and split the rest with me. I would have done it for nothing.

The jeep was built out of the box from the old MPC Golden Hawk kit with some weathering. The trailer and welder is scratched from styrene bits and parts from the spares box. Today, most guys have some sort of welder in their trailer and I don't see the Track Welder much anymore. This was fun and it makes me remember some fun times.

Great subject, Great build! I remember the track welder, sometimes you needed him just to get the old heap up on the trailer! funny-emoticon5-%2528messhits_com%2529.gif
