Title: 63 Nova Wagon/flamed
Description: Hippity Hoppity

crazybob - November 24, 2009 07:55 PM (GMT)
I started messing around yesterday with junk from other projects laying scattered around my desk and this just sort of fell in place after years of trying to figure out what to do with the nova. The chassis is from the 66 nova that was tubbed, the 427motor I think was from the 66 flip nose malibu and the body is the boss nova funnycar ??????? redid the rear fender wells and scribed new door lines. As most of you known sometimes projects get put on the backburner for different reasons and then "IT HAPPENS" and everything falls into place. Anyway here I go hopping down another building trail.

I had so much fun doing the flames on the 56 that I thought I'd do some on the 63 wagon and try to improve as this is my 2nd set of multi- color flames
I should have tried this years ago, but oh well I trying it now. Maybe this will motavate me to finish it.

wnw jsm Heck of a job on those flames !!! Just as a hint... Pactra makes a very fine pintsripe tape that would be perfect for outlining those licks. It's not easy for me to use with my 10 thumbs, but would make a real killer job.

How u putting on the flames??

crazybob - January 21, 2010 02:55 PM (GMT)
Troy,

I use a flame template, Blue painters tape(for now) which is alright for flat surfaces and my "trusty" 20+ year old Badger airbrush. I use the airbrush for all my painting, except for clear coats and that is shot from a spray can. I got some side flames shot yesterday on this wagon thinking about add more. Thanks for looking.

.?. .?. .?.

BOB...........

I been meaning to ask........WHAT KIT did that body come out of???????? I "have a vague memory" of seeing one of those bodies before.........just CAN'T REMEMBER WHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!

DJ

ps----I have a PHOTO-GRAPHIC MEMORY.............but.......it RAN OUT OF FILM !!!!!!!!!!! rr21 rr21

DJ,

This is the kit it came from. I was really bummed when I opened this kit a couple of years ago and saw the lack of detail over all. The body looks like they took the original 4 doorbody and filled the door lines, cut a hole in the roof, and butchered the rear fender wells and called it a funnycar, that's the way they were doing things back in the late 60's & early 70's, but in the process they ruined a lot of good kits. Any how I babble the 31 altered has flame decals and that iwas what I was trying to copy. I think that the car looks a little different than if it had been built as the Funnycar ..//.. ..//.. as they called it.
