I have a deep respect for japanese culture but some of their tradition just disgust me. I didn't knew they were doing this to dolphin, i knew about the sharks massacre but not about the dolphins -_-

I sign the petition, i hope they will stop this barbarian "feast" It's totally inhuman. I guess every culture has good and bad side, i wish this bad side of japanese culture will dissapear -_-

Yes ><;;.

Seriously...Just hacking off their heads while they are still alive...

It's so cruel.

They don't need to do it that way...or do it at all D:.

QUOTE (Ecthelon @ May 25 2007, 06:14 AM)
hey, at least Canadians USE the seals.. that's better than just killing them for the sake of killing them.

I find that interesting because the seals in Canada are being killed just for their pelts. The carcass is left behind and only the fur is sold.
I'm not trying to pick on you... but the dolphins are killed for a reason- their meat.

While I'm not trying to diminish these actions or make any excuses for what's happening in Japan and many other coastal countries. Quite honestly, it's not very different than how any other kind of meat is "processed." Cows, chicken, hogs.. etc.

I'm going a bit off topic. But if you're interested in what you're eating... (you might regret it) this site gives a brief background and glimpse into the atrocities. (There's a graphic video, so... proceed with caution)

Okay...well...

I won't be eating beef for awhile after that.

Seriously, hanging them upside - down? People don't seem to understand that animals have emotions too!

Shoot.

well, i didn't sign it. love it or hate it, but dolphins are no exception from other creatures, from the smallest fishes to the biggest whales. The Japs' way of catching and killing them was totally not humane, but i think it's a matter of size here (and also apperance). I mean, it would only be natural to do it to a 'simple' mackerel, because they're not cute and they're not big enough.

but also considering that the japanese is a nation based on fishing, this is tradition carried all along.

I don't mean to sound insensitive or anything.

But what's so tragic about it? I don't think that most of us think about the cows and pigs who go through slaughterhouses.

I mean. unless you're vegan/vegetarian, I don't think you have a right to say anything about killing animals o-o;

I probably came across as a insensitive person, but that's just my opinion ._.
although I must say it'd be nice if they could just kill the animals cleanly with one blow instead of poking at them till they die in agony :sneer:

I'm vegetarian...

In any case, I agree with you to a degree tjddo; most other animals are slaughtered in evil ways.

It's all wrong.

And it's terrible how they drag them and slice them slowly as they die in agony.

If humans were treated this way, there would be a huuugeee global outcry.

But animals? Noooo. Because lots of ignorant fools believe that animals are emotionless and can't feel, therefore are worth less than humans.

"So what? It's just a chicken!" - that line makes me extremely angry.

Signed as well. I didn't watch the clip though and would rather not ... working at an animal hospital gives me enough horrors; granted there are many joys in aiding the animals.

I don't think there's anything I can do to make them stop. Even countries have tried to make them stop diplomaticly and it doesn't work.

I hate GreenPeace's tactics, but I think this may be the only place I'd support them standing in front of the dolphins and using their boats and bodies to save them. I think it is the only way to make it work.

I have been a fan of anime and japanese culture for many years now.
This is the first time I knew that they do these things though. I feel sorry for the dolphins. :sorry:

And somehow, I'm glad that this terrible video is not known to my friends on another anime forum....
