Yaoi Vs. Yuri

I like yaoi over yuri because all the yuri available to me is cliched and boring. Everything seems to be placed in an all girls school called St. Marie or what not and a younger girl is usually mooning over the school idol. Yaoi seems to have a bit more plot variation (in my experience at least). There might be a bit of the sexual limitations taught to me at a young age (girls should be virgins so any type of sex seems extra bad, guys...who cares) mixed into that reasoning somewhere too.

I do prefer Yaoi over Yuri.
I think that the same kind of sex scenes happen in Yuri a lot.
Yaoi has a lot of different kinds of positons... Mmm.

I probably like squealing over how hot the characters in the Yaoi are, I guess.

I think Yaoi is more interesting than Yuri not to mention the guys on the yaoi were drawn really well :).

For some reason, two boys is so much cuter and more exciting than two girls. The play of domination, submission [or not] and such is.. also, as someone said earlier, a "thrill" :grin:

Yaoi or Yuri, it's still pervy :sweat: But for me I prefer yaoi. For some reason the thought of reading yuri just put me off, even though I have no problems with real girlxgirl couples. I guess it's the bishie factor. The guys are so cute.

I agree with the the topic starter's observation that there are more yaoi than yuri in existence. But it's not the case in point as to why these 2 genres are to be compared vis-a-vis to each other. Let's not forget the fact, as you guys said, that yaoi is primarily geared towards females and yuri is for males.

It's the same with shoujo and shonen for that matter. You'll see from looking at the mangaupdates database (though some genres they put in there are somewhat disputable) that for approximately 1500 shounen in existence, there are more or less 6200 shoujo.

Hmm.. I'd have to say that there are more female readers who are loyal and willing to read shoujo/yaoi at any point in their lives as compared to boys, who would be willing to read shounen at this specific stage of their lives but past it, may lose interest.

I also noticed that in every manga/anime forum/site I belong to, there are more female members than males.

Oh, it's yaoi for me. Never lifted a finger to peek at any yuri manga even out of curiosity not because I hate it, I just feel that I wouldn't get the same shrill with it that I get from yaoi.

well i don't like yuri , becoz i'm girl myself :sweat: , even yoai as long it remain in manga i like it it full of hot guys :crush: and it more intresting than 2 girls in love , well and yoai is well recived by girls mostly i don't know about boys though :lol:
