Hi - I have joined your forum after coming across it when looking at all things exmoor1 My name is Kathryn and me and my husband have just moved to Scotland in december. I had an exxie on loan where i used to work in Lancashire but she had to stay there when we moved as she is a therapy pony and worth her weight in gold to the centre. I used to show her in hand at local riding club and we did well although we would have done better if she smiled!
i am hoping to get another exmoor (or two - don't tell my husband!) as we have 2 and a half acres of field just crying out for them - so if anyone is looking for a home for one that can live out and just wants playing with and looking after I can take one on.
look forward to meeting/chatting with you all

Hi Kathryn! Welcome to the forum (and to Scotland!) I'm about to do the opposite and move from Scotland to England. Good luck in your search for an exmoor up here, will we see you at Area show?

Hi Everyone - thanks for your welcome. I am not up to speed with what is going on yet so when I see the details for the area show I shall certainly get along - try keeping me away!!
We are at the top end of Dumfries and galloway - about 10 miles from the Ayrshire border. My biggest wish is that Bramble (Kynbrylie Bramble) will come to stay with us. She is working as a therapy pony in Lancashire and is ace at it and to give her a break we went to riding club shows were she finished 2nd overall on points in M&M (all sizes) - she's a gem, if a little moody (but who isn't!). I haven't yet started my search in earnest as there are things to do but look forward to when they do come. I have got a man putting up fences and gates in return for putting his 5 sheep on the field (I am sure 2 1/2 acres is more than enough for a couple of exxies and 5 sheep!).
Look forward to meeting up with you all! wink.gif

p.s that is her in my avatar at the UK showing champs where we were 4th behind 2 lovely exxies and a dartie stallion. I know she looks big but she is ace at showing and I only need to be at the end of the rein - she does the rest - so I am quite a way from her which I believe allows the pony to show her full paces without being manipulated. I used to show my highland I had before her the same way and he did well too. wacko.gif

Big is best!! I think I can safely say we all prefer our Exies on the larger side (with a few exceptions - such as the lovely Ezri Lisa! wink.gif )

Welcome to the forum Kathryn - I think I remember you from EPS POTM maybe? Bramble seems a lovely pony - I can see an Exmoor would be a great therapy beastie!

Dumfrieshire is lovely, I'm sure your future Exmoors will love it smile.gif

Looking forward to seeing you at Exmoory things soon!

PS - if you fancy a ride on an Exmoor and have time for a trip to Edinburgh (or Glendevon in the summer months) have a look at the Edinburgh Uni Exmoor Pony Trekking Section website (www.exmoorponytrekking.co.uk) and come out for a trek! It's great fun going out on a big group of Exmoors.

Just spotted area show details and I am now in pony heaven as I see the venue is being shared with the other loves of my life (no, not my husband) - Highland ponies!!! (husband is below exxies, highlands, anglo-nubian goats, Ryeland sheep etc ha ha ha! - good job he doesn't know about this site!!) So I'll see you there!

Kinbrylie Bramble is the half-sister of my previous (now sadly RIP) pony, Kinbrylie Aramis (kieran) who was also out of Subbhain. She's lovely. I missed out on her a few years ago when Kieran was on box rest as I didn't feel able to have two at the time, she's a cracking pony.

Here's a picture of Kieran for comparison with his little half-sister:

Thanks Miriam - I will certainly take you up on that! Can't think of anything better!
Hi Gill - Kieran is just like Bramble and yes, that was her on the POTM - the kids got such a buzz when Sue gave her that award!

Hi Kathryn - welcome to Scotland!

Miriam - "the lovely Ezri" has finally morphed into her paler summer colour, which is just as well, as she is doing Dalkeith (not that I have told her yet as it will only result in some mad exie galloping around!).

Thanks Lisa - good to be here.

As for the goats - Don't have one at the minute - again it was in my previous job (fab place) I used to have Omar the A-N G who thought he was my dog! and would wakl with me, had his own back pack to carry our drinks and was even quite good at agility although the weave was a bit hit and miss!! I believe he misses me and if he pines too much he will have to come up here and live with me too!!!!!! wacko.gif

Indeed it is THE Dalkeith Show. It's her contribution to the showing world this year. Poet is doing the Highland, Ez is going to Dalkeith and Venn will do either Border Union or the Scottish, then I'm off to HOYS (to watch at the very least - lol) and finally to the Scottish Masters with Poet. Venn will be backed in the autumn and Ez will do some dressage.

That - at the moment - is The Plan!
