Lily (Stockshill Floral Dance) has arrived!

She travelled up on Saturday and has been settling in well since. She is by far the most chilled out foal I have ever met, but then I guess I am comparing her to those norty Exies!

She was weaned last Sunday and haltered for the first time but she's not been handled as such, or led. On arrival we literally had to frog march her into the barn and then into her stable, but she accepted this without complaint. I couldn't really get near her on Sat and on Sun she tolerated a little scratch on the rump but wasn't keen. This morning she didn't walk away when I scratched her and tonight she was being very brave and being touched all over, including the back legs!

Here she is, I apologise for the pink but she is a girl!

I wub.gif her very much already, she is taking everything very much in her stride and is an instant hit on the yard - visitors very welcome.

NB she's going to be massive (I have not in fact bought a pony
rolleyes.gif ) - she's only 6 months and is already taller than Flare.

Flare met his little sister last night, it was love at first sight for her! He was more interested in the massive haynet, typical boy!

I've had such a good day so far!

Flare and I had another lesson this morning and he was so good, we are working on bending and the instructor just thinks he's great which is so nice.

And Lily was turned out with Flare when we got back! She was very good, especially when you think she's never been led really and we have to walk about 100 yards (some of it over quite an open grassy bit). We had one moment where she got a bit spooked and sort of took off but I held on and she was fine. She can move! Did a lovely floaty trot. My fellow livery and friend kindly led Flare in front and when she got in the field it was pretty much head down, eating! She looks pleased to be out in the fresh air at last.

I took some photos:

But the best bit was that I went back into the field about 20 mins after she went out and she let me go right up to her and take hold of the headcollar.

And she let me catch her to bring her back in tonight (despite Flare rather than him actually helping!)
