We are not any one difficulty, but a board where brand new first-time roleplayers and old hats can come together and just have a good time writing. We offer all conceivable genres, time periods, and all manner of creatures and people. We have no applications, though we have a training section for extra help. Let's have some fun!

Q: What IS this place? A: This is a roleplay forum, of course! But, here at Roleplay Refuge, we do things just a liiiittle differently.
Q: Different how? A: Well, for one, we offer all genres, not just a smattering of plots or a couple genres. For another, each thread is its own world, and we rarely, if ever, use play-by's. We also don't have any formal applications or joining forms- we leave that up to the creators of the threads to decide what they want to ask you for.
Q: You said each thread is its own world. How does that work? A: Well, the thread creator generally puts up a brief summary of their plot or world, or else a long IC introduction, which serves to introduce both the world and their character. Sometimes, though, the thread starter (or GM) will require profiles for characters to be submitted in the thread before the rp actually begins.
Q: But... No Applications? I like applications/that's chaos! A: Hang on there! It's perfectly fine if you like applications! And it is by no means chaos! It just allows each thread to function differently in accordance with the creator's own style. If you feel like you want to fill out applications for your characters, we have a forum set aside specifically for character profiles, plot ideas, and other snippets- the Documentation Section! Take a look, if you'd like. Each member gets one thread there to organize however they'd like with whatever they'd like.
Q: I've never seen a place quite like this before- How long have you been here/where did you find your skin? A: We've been around for two and a half years- our birthday is in early January, and we're not going ANYWHERE, so make yourself comfortable! As to our skin, we always make our own skins, as we feel it ads more of a sense of originality to us. If the skin is linked anywhere on the credit- RPG-D, for example- you might well be able to find it there, because Anne likes to share her skins.
Q: This place seems really freeform- What's the catch? A: Catch? There is no catch! it's so un-catchy that it's a Catch-negative22! Ok, sorry, really lame joke. We really are entirely freeform- believe it, and don't stop believing! Of course, bear in mind that you have to stick to the site rules and the rules of whoever made the thread, if hey have others.
Q: Where do I start?! A: You can start anywhere you like! Post an introduction, maybe, but other than that, just make a thread or ask if you can hop into another, or ask for someone to thread with- someone will play with you!
